Shell Valley Coupe
Scott
I ran across this thread on your Coupe build. Thanks for the pictures and info. Coach Mike bought a SV Coupe and will be building it in my shop. Of course I will get to help a little. Where are you on your build? Have you installed the rear glass? How did you mount it? Screws or glue or both? Dwight |
As of now I am planning to glue it to the frame, I think I will add some button head screws later for simulation.
I have been told by my painter that it will be done next week so I will try to get more photos up while I am reassembling the coupe. Scott S |
more questions
Are you going to glue it yourself? Where do you buy the glue? Will it stick to powder coat? Are you going to paint an edge around the window to cover the frame?
Dwight |
I will probably use the same glue as the windshield, that stuff sticks to most anything. I painted a edge around the plastic first.
I would advise to get the bodywork done before final fitting of the hatch cover, have you fitted the spoiler yet? Mine was a bit of a pain. Scott S |
Spoiler
We are reworking the rear window frame to fit the center of the grove on the body. Just look forward to the mounting of the glass. Mike has an appointment to get it paint in Jan.
Spoiler My next question. How did you mount it? We are talking about pop rivets and fiberglass it in. Add button heads after paint for looks. Dwight |
head light len
How did you mount the glass on the headlites? Did you make tabs out of metal? Or did you install screws into the body? Mike's lens where cut to fit inside the hole for the headlite. I think we should make stainless "L" brackets and mount them to the body inside the headlite area.
I'm glad your 18 months ahead of Mike. Dwight Pictures please:) |
I am going to use L brackets, I was thinking about cutting some out of alum.
We worked the spoiler over a bit so it would fit well and will attach it with button head screws after paint, I have seen some glassed in and they tend to crack away at the seams. Scott S |
I talked to Mike tonight about the spoiler. He said the painter is going to fit the spoiler to the rear of the car and then attach it with button head screws.

All is as it should be in my shop again.
After 4 1/2 months in the paint shop the Coupe is back home for final assembly, now that the summer weather is gone it looks as if I will have plenty of time to finish. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/DSC00183.JPG http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/DSC00184.JPG http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/DSC00185.JPG The colors are Ford Torch Red and Performance White. SCOTT!!!! Looking awesome! You'll definately be seen in that thing! :) Love it!
|
Thanks Brent, it was painted entirely white and then shot the red over after masking the stripes. The red almost glows.

Nice looking coupe! I'm really getting a daytona itch!!! How has the SV kit been so far? Any problems?
|
Scott do you have a close pic of the wing? It looks like it molded to the body but I can see screws?
Dwight |
The screws are holding the spoiler on, the painter reworked the fit of it to match the contours very well.

Were the inner fenderwells part of the front clip or did you have to add them?
The car looks great. |
The inner fender wells came from SV attached to the hood. I didn't have to trim them at all.

It pretty much Done!
A few little odds and ends but I drove it about 20 miles and it awesome! http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d.../DSC002431.JPG http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d.../DSC002422.JPG I will post more photos later as I plan to drive it even more today! Scott S |
Congratulation Scott, 20 miles is a great first jump test. Now you have to open some bottles to celebrate this day with your familly and your friends ;)
|
I am kicking around the idea of selling the coupe, any offers?
