Default Toploader

David- I bought a toploader with big input shaft (1 3/8) and big output that was for a 70/429 car. While everything looks new and rebuilt my question is this. Have you heard of torque-lock gears ? It sussposed to have them . This tranny has new gear clusters w/shinny new brass syncro's(no syncros chiped) and a long tailshaft.
Second-Have you ever put together a overdrive truck tranny using
big input/output(s) I would prefer it to be a close ratio gearset if possible, for the first 4 gears. This will go into a supercharged 500+ cu/in 2700 lbs cobra that has a 456 locker rear. I know such a tranny was never built but can it be pieced together by you? How much punch could such a tranny take? The cost? Thanks for any info/replys in advance.

The synchronizer assemblies could be a torque lock design. I am familiar with them but can't say anything one way or the other about their performance. The overdrive transmission gears will not work in conjunction with the 4 speed toploader gears. The diameter and size of the gears is different.

Default Thanks

Thanks for the info. Looks like I am going to try the hot dog I have now. If this thing breaks I will be seeing you. I will give you a update on torque lock gears mid spring of next year if they work. My motor has about 800hp so they will get the acid test.
Later
