Default Bellhousing

Thank you David!!

Installed parts I ordered from you without any problems. Seems that old Lakewood bellhousing will not work with new flywheel. Took a clay impression of starter and flywheel and it appears that the starter is out of position. Attemped to prove this out by trying starter prior to installing tranny. . . . I hear a grinding noise and stopped immediately. . . theory proved! (no damage)

Anyway, I am prepared to purchase the required parts and looked them up on the McLeod online catalogue. . . please varify if I have selected the correct ones:

Please note that my engine is a '71 429/460 and I have an aftermarket Mcleod mini starter for a Ford 429/460.

Mcleod #8747 motor plate
Mcleod #8743 housing
Mcleod #87202-2 cap

Please advise if these are all the parts I will need, and if you are able to get them for me.

Also, I hate to be a PITA, but your prompt attention to this is grately appreciated in that I must get these parts and have them installed by August 20th for Woodward Dream Cruise.

Any/all help or suggestions are welcomed!

Thanks again David,

Kim

Just a quick update . . . I welded the upper starter nut to the inside of the bellhousing . . . potential for disaster if nut or socket were dropped/fell inside the housing.

Also, the #87202-2 cap was too thick @ approx. .500 inches. McLeod provides a thin one @ approx .125/.1875 for other (my) applications. If you happen to order the wrong one, the possibility of input shaft to pilot bearing, drive shaft engagement, tranny mount brkt, and/or drive shaft engagement/length issues may occur. Check with Red at Mcleod and make sure you tell him your application . . . I wasted $80 some dollars in overnight freight costs only to find out parts work right.

Also, be sure to check tranny to cap/cap to bellhousing mounting hole commonality, you may have some drilling/tapping to do.

Good Luck!

Oh yeah . . . DON'T FORGET THE PEDAL STOP!

Hey Kim, How's it going???

Have you been out and about??

I can't get out of the sub until the roads dry a little.

Just itching to get out on 75 and tool for a bit.

Sounds like you are doing clutch things again.

Tru,
Yup, had her out yesterday for a quick spin. All clutch/bellhousing/TO bearing issues are behind me. Finished it up last fall. Ready to cruise now!

However, still need to finalize shifter boot issue and gas collecting on intake after driving. May have to install new carb gaskets. Not real happy with Holley 750 #4010. Has plastic parts that break . . . choke cable clamp. Anyway, any suggestions for carb replacement?

Talk at you soon,

Kimba

I'm using a 3310. You can get one at Ramchargers for about $250.00 Chromed.

I had her out and broke all kinds of stuff. I am trying to get my platform finished so I can begin repairs.

This weekend is supposed to be great. Thinking of Saturday...hhmmm.
