Question Dog type, Jerico Toploader

Hey David, I remember hearing some where that Jerico bought the rights to the old toploader design as a basis for their tranny and someone is putting Jerico guts in a toploader case or some how converting them to Dog type engagement.

Fact or fiction? Any experience with these boxes?

Thanks
Rick

I checked Jerico's site but did not see the answers to my questions.

Thanks
Rick

Rick, I don't necessarily think it's Jerico guts in a Toploader case.....but I think it's actual dog gears made for a Toploader. Did you talk to David Kee? Call him up and ask him. I don't think he posts on here much anymore.

You wanting to go to synchro-less shifting?

From what I heard is that Jerico started with the toploader design and went from there.

As far as going synchro-less........... I suppose I do long for the sweet shifts I experienced in a Hewland.

Someone IS putting Jerico guts in a toploader case..........Cobra Automotive advertises these trans......toploader case has to have some modifications to make it work......It all started with the Vintage Road Race guys looking for an edge, rule book says you have to use a toploader trans, they brought it one step further with the Jerico guts, they do not tear down trans. at the track to see whats in them.........

I have heard some of these all out guys are shifting at 9000 rpms without the clutch with these trans.......speed=money,how fast do you want to go???????
these converted trans. are expen$ive,$$$$$$$$$$..

http://cobraautomotive.com/cobra_cat.pdf

look on page 15 of their online catalog.....

Hey David,

The phrase i've heard is:

Speed is money, how fast do you want to spend? ''

What'saCobra;

I've heard a few varaitions myself, that's the one I remembered........

How about this one I heard from a drag racer about building engines,,,,,,,,,,,there are winning not with cubic inches, but cubic dollars.............

Would love to have one of those toploader/jerico hybrids, but they probably cost more than my race engine will cost...........

David
