Default HOD at Daytona in December

Hey guys, Hooked on Driving is hosting a track event at Daytona in December. There will be several guys coming from the South Fl, and Orlando areas. HOD just added a beginner's groupt to their roster as well.

Hope to see some of you there. This is a copy of their newsletter.

" A reminder that our event date for the Thanksgiving weekend at Homestead has changed to SUNDAY the 29th. We will be running a two group format for maximum track time, and for this event many of you have requested not using NASCAR 3&4 so we will not be using the banking. If you plan to attend please register early so we can get a count for our catered Thanksgiving type lunch.

Our DAYTONA event December 4-6 has had a change for the better: Registration will open today for Beginner's and Coaches. Coaches will have to call for special pricing, and a few spots remain open. You must have experience at Daytona to be eligible to coach.

Garages will be available on the yellow garage area where we will all be parked at. Remember that registration will close on November 30th as we will be heading to Daytona December 1st to set up for this BIG event.

Track support will be available for those of you needing service or parts, contact Henry Gilbert at 954 258-6613 for more information or reservations. Only a few spots remain open as 15 cars is our limit. Corvette rentals are also available for this event."

Call Aviad in California (http://www.aviaid.com/pdfs/cat05.pdf) they have the small block pans in stock on the shelf. You do not need a dry sump system but a good oil pan is worth its' weight in gold. I think the cost is about $500. You won't be sorry even if you only ocassionally track your car.

Tell Richard, Reg, any of the other Backdraft team I said hello.

Hi Clois, good to see you lurking down here where the weather is warm. I'm finally getting the car de Run and Gunned, and cleaned up. Looking forward to next year. I need to figure out a way to chill my brother's ego a little. That lap time got him pretty excited, cheers, Rich

CBreez, If you are running street tyres, you should be fine. Clois' advice is solid though, don't take my word for it.
HOD hosted a great event at Sebring last week, I'll be runnig with them in the future for sure.

I guess I didn't phase my question correctly...I know that a special performance pan would be best...my question was has anyone run this kind of track event (long sweeping corners) with a stock Ford oiling set up successfully.

For those of you who didn't make it, you missed a good one. Awesome track, huge pucker factor. I have no negative comments, which is pretty unusual for me. The driver's on track were very aware, and I didn't see anything that made me think twice about that driver.
Good stuff all the way around. I was fortunate to borrow a GoPro camera from Dana Morrison, so as soon as I figure out how to post the video, I will.
Cheers,
Richard
