Hey guys, just got this email from the DSCC, it looks like they are going to start running at Gainesville again.
Many of us cut our teeth on this track, There are no obstacles, just wide open grass if you happen to venture off track.
Hopefully we'll get to meet some new folks there.
Cheers, Richard Bailey
"Many of our members have asked about when the DSCC would be returning to drive the Gainesville track. For those who have not been to this technical track, it is a safe one where off course obstacles are located far from the track. If one goes off track, the overrun is grass and is forgiving. Due to the track layout, the course does not allow one to reach very high speeds before coming up on the next turn. This road course has been used by many of our members to learn about their cobra and learn the basics of driving at speed. Due to Gainesville insurance restrictions, only one person may be in the car while on track; so this precludes offering in-car driving instruction. However, watching and talking to the more experienced drivers offer a unique opportunity to learn the basics, and gradually ramp up your driving skills on a safe track.
So, are you ready to go have some fun at Gainesville?
February 6th and March 27th, the DSCC will be presenting track days at the Gainesville Road Course put on by the Gainesville Road Race Club (GRRC). To register go to
www.gvilleroadrace.com A few days before the event, GRRC will send you an invoice ($100). Track rules and regulations are on the website. The track is scheduled for a half day 9am-1pm. GRRC runs 5 cars on the track at the same time and the event is limited to 20 cars, so you will have a lot of track time. The DSCC host hotel will be the Cabot Lodge in Gainesville. This is a map to the Road Track If you have any questions, please reply to this email."
