Rick"s All Wet
Hey Rick,
Nice picture of you dripping wet, trying to keep the rain drops off your FIA with a roll of paper towels. I can't believe that Bill would let it rain at Southern. Great hospitality, Parham! Rick, your car looks great, and gives me a little more juice, waiting for my arrival. Did you decide to go with the rear frame roll bar as a personal preference choice? In my opinion, this style bar looks more appealing, and I am considering the same. Does Unique interchange these bars at the same cost? Also, are your "sides" chromed? I don't mean to offend, but my eyes aren't as sharpe, and I wasn't sure if perhaps they were polished steel or chrome. Whatever they are, your car is beautiful! Are chrome sides an interchangeable option with the black powder coat as well, at Unique? The chrome bar and sides are such a beautiful choice, that I am leaning more that way every day. I suppose that I really should be asking Alan, et al, these questions. However, you are on the payroll with Unique and Southern Automotive, aren't you? Afterall, you are driving the finest billboard advertisement for them that anyone could ask for!! Jot me a note when time allows. Thanks!!
FIAFRED
PS I scribbled you a quick note of reply from yesterdays thread on the original meeting dates chain. See ya!

Fred,
If you think it looks good, just wait till you hear it! It sounds awesome.
I mean, when you consider that it's a small-block and all.
I have a very short video (with sound) of Rick pulling out of Bill's lot in the car. Email me and I'll send it to you. It's too big to post.
Keith

Bill had better know the secret on keeping it dry for our outting next April. Hell, I have already been to a rainy weekend Cobra outting. I hope our planners consider this fact of rain, when you try to get together with cars with no top.

FRED--
THANKS FOR THE KIND WORDS, BUT MY CAR IS MORE LIKE A "THIRTY-FOOTER". THAT IS, IT LOOKS GREAT FROM A BIT OF A DISTANCE BUT WHEN YOU GET UP CLOSE, THE MILES AND HARD DRIVING ARE STARTING TO SHOW ON THE PAINT AND INTERIOR. I BOUGHT THE CAR COMPLETED FROM A GUY IN MY TOWN WHO RE-MARRIED AND FOUND THAT HIS WIFE WANTED A HOME RATHER THAN A COBRA--GO FIGURE. PERSONALLY, I WOULD HAVE PREFERRED A FORWARD BRACED ROLLBAR FOR AUTHENTICITY, BUT THAT WILL HAVE TO COME WHEN I DO SOME BODY WORK AND A RE-PAINT. THE SIDE PIPES WERE JUST CERAMIC COATED THROUGH ONE OF BILL'S SUPPLIERS. THEY LOOK A LOT LIKE CHROME.
IF YOU LOOK AT THE PICTURES KEITH HAS POSTED, YOU WILL SEE SOME AUTHENTIC FIA STYLE VALVE COVERS MADE UP BY ONE OF UNIQUES SUPPLIERS. THEY WERE COSTLY, BUT I LOVE THE LOOK AND I WILL TRY TO BTRING MY CAR TO FULL AUTHENTICITY OVER THE NEXT FEW YEARS. KEITH IS RIGHT ABOUT THE MOTOR, IT SOUNDS AS CLOSE TO NASTY AS ANYTHING YOU WILL HEAR ON THE STREET--EVEN IF IT IS A SMALL BLOCK.
THE CAR HAS BEEN WASHED WAXED AND DRIED AND IS NONE THE WORSE FOR WEAR. WHAT GOOD IS A CAR THAT CAN'T TAKE A LITTLE WATER?

RICK FOLLOWUP
Rick,
Thanks for follow-up. I'm sure that you have more to do than baby sit me, but whenever you can reply, I'll be greatful. Is your crate engine modified from what I should expect from my 351w, from Bill? Is it even the same kind of animal? The reality is, I really am going to drive my car regularly for pleasure, and I need to have a reasonable DB level. I kind of got the impression that your engine has a "competition DNA strand", that gives it that nasty, "sounds so good", attitude. I am willing to sacrifice some degree of nasty for something my "sweet petunia" will accept for "our" riding pleasure. I hope this isn't an oxymoron( come to think of it, maybe I'm just a moron!). Anyway, I'll ask your patient indulgence to help me sort these things out sowly, over a resonable period of time.
Continued appreciation,
"Freaky" FIAFRED
