Engine Manufacturer
Gang,
This is just a heads up to anyone still looking for an engine builder. I had Southern Automotive build my 351W, with some mild goodies, and a top loader tranny. The owner, Bill Parham, and his wife Susan, are just about as good as it gets, when it comes to customer service and quality of product. You may have read on other threads, that Bill will give you his home phone, and encourage you to call him if you have a question or problem. Folks, he's the "real deal". He will build whatever you want, large or small block, mild to wild, and do it for the price he quotes you, and get it delivered when you need it! No, this isn't a paid advertisement for Southern Automotive. This is a testament from a service business owner of over twenty years, who knows and appreciates good service, and quality products. My sincere thanks to Bill and Susan, and all at Southern Automotive.

I agree completely and couldn't resist chiming in myself.
What does a potential customer look for in a business?
Honesty - Everyone I met was flat-out honest. Period.
Quality - I spoke with several of Bill and Susan's customers before visiting Southern Automotive. Saying that they were "satisfied" with the quality that they recieved would be a gross understatement.
Service - One person I know had a very simple problem with a motor (nothing serious). How did Bill handle it? Well, he and Lewis packed up some tools and drove about two hours to the customer's house to fix the car right there in the garage. The cost: nothing (covered under warranty). When's the last time the Ford dealer down the road sent someone to your home? Yea, that's what I thought.
Knowledge - The guy's been building and/or racing these engines for more than 30 years. The company has been in business for more than 18 years. That pretty much says enough.
I could go on and on, but I think you get the point. I don't get paid for any of this. I'm just a guy who's happy with the engine builder he chose. Anyone who would like to speak with me at length about my experiences with Southern Automotive can feel free to email me and I will provide them with a number to reach me.

I think you guys are trying for a bigger plate of BBQ come April,
2002. Now when I see the three of you at the head of the line I will no why. Since I have never met any of you I will walk to the front of the food line to meet you.

DAN'S Gray Matter
Dan,
Are you just kidding when you say you haven't met any of us? Or should I be REALLY concerned about your memory, rather should YOU be REALLY concerned about your gray matter? Remember me helping you load your engine stand into your truck at Ed's, when you guys were installing his "stroker" a couple of weeks ago? Or is it me?

Fred,
Can't a guy have a senior moment? I have not met Keith or Mike and I still think you three will be at the head of the line. Oh, by the way thanks for the help loading. Do you need the crew to install that new engine? Have hoist will travel.

Dan,
For a small fee, I'll let you cut in front of me in the BB-Q line.

I just want to chime in to say that I had Bill build a 302 stroker motor that I am very pleased with. I wanted the nastiest sounding, highest output motor reasonably streetable. What i got was exactly that. On the dyno at 6200 rpms it was putting out 338 horses at the wheels and the power curve was still climbing rapidly when the limiter cut in. I have not tried a pull with the 6800 chip in place, but more power is inevitable.
The motor is rough for the street, but that is just fine with me. In its first outing at Gainesville with the 6200 rpm limiter the lap times were very imptressive. Overall, great service and value from folks that I am happy to deal with.
You can't go wrong with Southern Automotive--everyone there was as helpful as can be. Its nice to have a small block that can spank the big boys.

That's a Big Ten Four Good Buddy!
I just want to say, "me too", when exalting the fabulous dealings that await you at Southern Automotive! Susan, Bill & Lewis are the best to deal with. You definitely get what you wanted in the first place, good value for your buck, with a smile and a handshake from an old time Southern Gentleman!
Translated for you Yankees, that means you get what you paid for and then some!

My Cobra is sitting in Bill's shop right now, and may even be his current project ! He is fixing something somebody else did wrong. He is also building me a small block race motor. Southern Automotive is like the "Mayberry hot rod shop ", and everytime I go there I feel like Floyd the barber. O.K., maybe I am Barney...

John,
Did you loose your bullet again? I hope you have one of those large car haulers because come April I want to see all those cars you have posted even if they are not all Cobras.

April 1, or April 12 Dan ? Yes, I have a big hauler. Are you giving me permission to bring more than the Cobra ? The Cobra is there now and may still be there for the event, so I don't mind bringing other stuff if somebody wants to see it. Some of it is Chevy powered, but that is O.K., it sort of acts like a speed governer.

Bring them on down
John,
APRIL 12-14 I would like to see that GT40. As far as what powers them my Cobra has a Chevy engine. I like any cars period, that like to tear up the pavement.
