Race Day at Gainesville Raceway Oct 13th
We have 20 entries at the currently signed up. I have made reservations for dinner both nights. I am cutting off the rooms as of today at the Hampton Inn. If your reservation is not in by Monday, Oct. 8th, your on your own. Only 8 reservations have been made at the Motel under our code group (some may not have mentioned DSC).
Hampton Inn 4225 S.W. 40th Blvd Gainesville, FL
1-352-371-4171
I made dinner Saturday night for up to 36 people at
Steak & Ale, 3544 S.W. Archer Road Gainesville, FL
Friday night amount is open to eat at
Outback Steakhouse (up to 24 people OK).
If you want to join us for dinner and are NOT at the Hampton INN, please let me know before Friday the 12th.
Special Notice: Bring Your Own Food & Water to The track!
There is no food or drink at the track site. Bring plenty of water.
Joe Smith and I are meeting at the track on Friday to layout the course and pit area. The track will be open at 7:30AM on Saturday to start signing waivers and paying the rest of the entry fee of $50/driver/car. We will tech each car to make sure they meet our track safety rules (check our web site at ( http://www.teamfour.com/dscc). If all 20 show up, this will be the cost a total of $100 ($50 deposit plus $50 at track).
We will have the drivers meeting promptly at 8AM. All drivers WILL be required to be corner marshalls when not running. We will seperate into at least four groups to rotate track time vs work time for everyone. At 5 laps per car, two cars per lap, we should get about 30 laps of track time each. That is 6 -5 lap runs.
This way, the cars won't be pushed too hard and noone should get tired out.
We will run on the track until 4:30PM, clean up by 5PM and back to hotel.
Dinner Saturday will be served at 8:30PM. No Host Cocktails before hand sarting at 7:30PM. I arranged for each person to order off the regular menu and each to pay their own bill. A gratuity will be added of 15% automatically to each check.
Thanks,

Jerry--
Thanks for all your hard work, I'm really looking forward to getting together once again. I'm assuming that Bill Parham will not treat this weekend as a warrantee cancelling event, since I have only about 300-400 miles on the new motor and don't want the warrantee voided just yet. Last pulls on the dyno show 422 hp at the flywheel, and while not up to your monster motor, its still pretty respectable for a 302 block!
If Bill says that my warrantee will be voided, I'll show up with my porsche.
I'll be watching the weather, don't want any more of those "Ricks all wet" threads going around.
Rick

Gainesville
Jerry and Rick,
I will be trying to get up there early Sat. to watch the track activities. I am going to play it by ear as to whether I stay overnight or not. I've got my fingers crossed that Alan and Maurice will have my car ready (rolling deluxe pallet), for delivery to Gainesville. It does not look like either Alan or Maurice will be able to make it, but they are going to let "poorboy" (Don), deliver it to me if they finish by Friday. I finally made it up to Unique last Friday(week ago), and finalled out the details with Alan. Don has been very gracious in sending me daily pictures of the piece by piece build out. It's going to be a horse race to get it finished by the weekend, but I'm definitely keeping the faith! I'll be monitoring this thread for activity updates, and check in when I know something further.

Jerry,
Ditto on the "thanks for all your hard work!"
My plan is to drive to Gainesville early Saturday morning since I only have about 75 miles to travel, and I'll be heading back home shortly after we're done at the track, so I won't be able to join you for dinner. Hope this helps you. Next time I do this, I'll try to allot more time for socializing!
Looking forward to getting together and having some fun.

Which Outback?
Jerry,
My wife and I are really looking forward to it. If we switch the cobra's tires to the street ones, where is the Outback for Friday night? We are staying in our motorhome Friday night at a campground which is why you do not see us registered at the hotel.
Also, we are going to Disney Sat after the event so will not be able to attend the dinner. Thanks for providing all the details - see you Friday night or Sat AM!

OK guys on not staying at the hotel. The Outback is at
3634 S.W. Archer Road, Gainesville, FL 352-373-9499.
Call me at the hotel 352-371-4171and ask for my room on Friday evening about 5PM. We need to call them before 6PM and tell them how many are coming. I'll take a nose count at the track as to how many are going to the Steak & Ale on Saturday night.
For all those running cars, be sure your car has the proper safety equipment and will pass tech inspection. Open cars must have roll bars, be in proper condition, have no fluid leaks and be street legal (no race cars only). All drivers must wear an approved helmet, full clothes (long shirt & pants) and shoes. Al;l cars must have a fire exstinguisher, etc. See the rules on the club site at
http://www.teamfour.com/dscc
See you there,
Jerry

Is there an entrance fee for people without a Cobra? I won't have mine until Nov at the Turkey Rod Run.
I have not heard much of the event even being a member of
DSCC. I am a resident of Gainesville and offer that anyone can call me 352-379-1691, if you need any directions or information while in the Gainesville area.
I'll bring my helmet and see if anyone is willing to give me a
ride around the track. I'll also offer up my services to be
a corner marshall to keep the lucky ones with cars on the
track or if there isn't enough people.
I will also offer this advice, Gainesville is further north than many people realize. We have been having some pretty cold weather (for Florida) lately. Our highs are around 80's depending on the night before. The lows are easily in the low 70's and has been lower. So you might want a light jacket.
FiaFred, I am also getting a Unique and hope to see your car
on Saturday. I too am getting the delux palet kit. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you out. (This way I can figure out what NOT to do before I get mine

Non Participants on Track Day
I am sorry to say we are not allowed to have any spectators at this event. If you are coming, you will be a pit crew member for an entrant or an entrant or you can not get into the track. This is in accordance with our contract with the track. Call me at the hotel and give me your name to enter as my pit crew, otherwise you can not get in. All wives, girl friends, etc., are classed as "pit crew" and MUST sign the waivers of liability to get in.

I should also add that heed Jerry's comment about bringing food and water. Where the track is located there really isn't much of anything to eat nearby. There is a convience store around, and the only resteraunt is about a 10 minute drive (or possibly 2-3 by Cobra speed.)

Jerry Pit Crews
Jerry,
Is there a limit to how many pit crew personnel there is per participant? That is to say, if my son and I come up will we be able to sign waivers, and pit crew for a willing participant, in order to see the goings on?

David/Unique
David,
Just picked up your note on getting a Unique. You are going to be very, very, pleased. Don aka: "poorboy" has literally provided me with a digital picture bio of my car's birthing process. From individual components, through assembly, to the rolling pallet. It's blow away!! The neat thing is that he is delivering my car by way of Gainesville, and Don can show you and tell you more than you could ever imagine about Unique's cars. I have a great deal of respect for him, and we just met very briefly when I was at Unique two weeks ago. I'll either see you in Gainesville, or you Must run down Don. I'll stay in touch. By the way, I have butterflies in my stomach after printing the pictures that Don sent me today. As a fifty year old guy, it's a little kid thrill!!

I regret to announce that I will not be able to make it to the track this weekend due to uncontrollable circumstances. I hope you guys have a great time, and be carefull.
Maybe I'll see you guys in Dec at CMS. Take care.
