Mufflers? Well NASCAR cars have mufflers but they don't muffle real well. As for tires are they round and hold air?
We are looking for a safe event so no tires that are not road worthy so leave the Firestones at home

Jerry, Update/FIAFRED
Jerry,
It is definitely my intention to attend G'ville. I am going to pay the full track fee, however, I'm just going to infield my car, pit crew whoever, and work my shift on corner or wherever needed. I will be in L.A., and not return until January 31. If I have the energy, then I will drive up Feb 1. Otherwise, I will come up on the 2nd. I fully realize that the gates will be locked upon initial entry of the participants. If I arrive late, then I will try to catch the lunch break re-entry, if that is possible. If not, I sincerely understand the rules, and I will adhere to whatever transpires. I mostly want to see all the gang and cars, and help wherever. My $100., track fee may be used by anyone that you designate whether I can gain entry or not. I will send my check before the deadline. If my situation is too complicated, just let me know and I will make a final decision on whether I can accomodate the rules and guidelines.
Happy Holidays,
Fred Savill aka/FIAFRED

Awesome
Wow, I can't believe I didn't know about this until now. I'll be sending in my deposit soon as soon as I make sure I can get off of work. I hated that I had to miss the last event, but I won't miss this one.
Whats the deal with non-member sign ups? TIA

Bandit non-member signups start next week. The Vettes already have at least three wanting to come.

What about that GT-40 you list in you signature? I bet we won't mind if you run that car. I do not think it qualifies as a "Race" car if it is street legal. The track does ask that we have no all out race cars.
Heck we have a few Vettes comming. I talked to Jerry Rowley and he is havin some cam problems with his Cobra so he might drive his Vette if he can not get the Cobra running by then.

Well, it has slicks, no mufflers, runs race gas, has numbers on it, and I would hate to bring it all the way down there and have them say no way. ....

Do you have something a little more tame like say a Ferrarri or a VW...err... Porsche
This car looks street legal to me other than the slicks(are they DOT rated?) and the lack of mufflers( sounds like bad glass packs to me. Does it have a tag or is it registered for the street? Heck just bring your wifes toyota. With my driving style you could beat me in a rented taurus.
Ok Joe and Jerry do we have a ruling on a topless GT-40 with worn tires and bad mufflers?

I know a Ford Taurus that might keep up with those vettes, and I am happy to bring that, but the track folks would frown on it too. The rules are as they are due to the insurance policy that was written for the event. I've been told to go home before from track time events because I brought a race car to a street car event. It's just the rules.Tires, mufflers, tag, those are the sticking points. I have a tag....and the rest would probably be o.k., but i was really only coming to meet you guys and heck, I'll see you in April anyway. I've spent the last two weekends at the track (both of which would have been perfect Cobra events), and I need a breather. At least am not worried about my paint job...
regards,
J.W.

Your Taurus
I just looked at your STOCK car TAURUS which I know for fact will not qualify for our event. Something about it being an ex-cup car would make the insurance company squirm. I bet that car would even run down the Z06 Vette that we are all gunning for. Wish us luck and see you in April

Supper on Saturday Night
We have dinner all set up for Saturday night, Feb. 2nd after the track event.
We will be eating at Napolatano's , located on 606 N.W. 75th Street in
Gainesville at 7:30 pm. Their phone number is 352-332-6671, and they've
set aside a private room for the DSCC. (Ask for Ginger or Dean)
(Napolatano's is a family owned Italian resturant and is highly rated by
Gainesville locals I've talked to. )
We will caravan from the Hampton Inn promptly at 7:15pm. To get to the
resturant, exit the Hamton, enter I-75 at exit 75. Head north and exit at the
very next exit (76) and head west. Turn left at the first light then get in the right lane. Look for the large sign...if you pass Home Depot you've gone too
far.
Several of us will probably go out to eat close to the hotel on Friday night,
we'll call that one on the "fly".
See you in Gainesville!

Joe,
What time are you and the others planning to get to the Hampton Inn? Can you tell me the directions from the track to the hotel? I'm not sure if I should follow the directions I followed last time directly to the track and then find my way to the hotel or if I should just get directions straight to the hotel. I guess I could just call the hotel, huh.
See ya' Friday.
Mike

The track
Mike, I will be meeting Jerry Rowley at the Hampton, Friday at 1pm. We'll be
out at the track setting up the cones. If you wish to meet us, call my room and
leave a message and we'll track any and all for Friday supper. Tech,
driver's brief and registration is Friday night in the lobby at 9pm.
We'll all convoy Sat. morning from the Hampton to the raceway. If you need
directions to the track, go to www.gainesvilleraceway.com
I probably won't be checked in till around 6pm on friday
See everybody there!
