Cool Here's the scoop on Florida

Dickie, FL emissions testing is county specific. The larger the population
density of the county (and size of its' core cities) the more likely that emissions
testing is required.
For example, Dade county (Miami, FL) used to require emissions testing
(Not sure if they still do) My county, Lake county, does not. Most of the rural
counties in FL do not require emissions testing.
Transferring a Cobra title from Maryland to Florida was a snap for me, and
literally took less than 5 minutes here in Lake County. No safety inspection was required either. Central Florida is "Cobra friendly" to be sure!

Thumbs up

I believe there are only six counties in all of Florida that have emissions tests, Duval county in Jacksonville is one of them. I would guess that all six of these "emissions" counties are major metropolitan areas. As Joe said, transferring a cobra title should be no problem.

Cool Normally...

Normally, in Florida the tag office is listed as just that. Some counties co-locate
the tag office with the tax collector's office. Just look in the telephone book
under the local government section. Good luck.

Dickie,

The emissions thing is no longer true. The two area's inFlorida that used to have it due to EPA clean air standards eliminated them in January of last year.

I registered in Miami - previously the most stringent - there was no emissions test, and they didn't even ask what year the motor is.

I did go through a process which is described on ERA's site (that I posted there) which worked very well.
