I just got off the phone with John Woerheide. In addition to his A/C Cobra, he's planning to bring his GT-40 and his GT-350!
He also gave me the lead on a few more Cobra owners in the Atlanta area. I'll be twisting their arms soon.

I don't want to spread any rumors, BUT, I think a few Bow Tie blocks have been known to be seen around McDonough from time-to-time. If you really have to go that way and want a great engine, I think it MAY be possible!

ONLY 13 MORE DAYS!
Freddie it's only thirteen more days to having all thoise those great cars gathered in McDonough. I'm going to be there with bells on myself. I can't wait for the whole weekend! I only hope I can get enough sleep to do it all. We definitely will have well over a hundred people and at least 50 or more cars including at least one GT40. See you there.

Leaving April 11,2002 for Mc Dough
Keith,
I just got your itinerary for our April weekend in todays mail. April is here and I'm almost ready to go. I'll be there one way or the other. I've been keeping a close eye on that Georgia weather.

Glad you got the info package! Sometimes I worry about the Camden & Bishopville post offices. Not much longer now!
I think the secret to good weather is for everyone to bring an umbrella. If we're all prepared for rain, it won't rain. But if just one person leaves their umbrella at home...

I'm bringing a trailer also but mine is an open one, I had to buy mine myself, so I got a tonneau cover made and it fits like a drum. How fast can I go if I have the wife hold up an umbrella?

I heard if you give the umbrella some Viagra, it will hold up better and for a longer period of time.
I'm going to guess and say 55 mph.

Question concerning the trailers.
The paperwork we received in the mail has us leaving our trailers at the hotel since we are staying at the hotel.
Will there be enough room at the hotel for all the trailers or would you prefer us to leave them at the elementary school / courthouse?
Will there be any security at the school/courthouse for the trailers?
What is best?

Apparently, the hotel has a very large parking lot in back and accomodates trailers all the time because of the local race tracks. I have spoken with the hotel about this in the past and that's the response I got. It is also my understanding that there are currently no plans to provide security officers for the school and courthouse lots.

Thanks, Keith...
Got your info packet Saturday. Nice job of laying everything out....now, the question becomes "How accurate are you?"...
We're coming in Friday afternoon, but we're planning on using our trailers for storage both overnite, and in the event the odd raindrop may descend from the heavens. Will there be any problems leaving the trailers at the hotel? We're not too worried about security as long as the cars are locked in the trailers, and our locks secured, etc.
I just feel more secure knowing my baby's 'inside'. If Southern Automotive had space inside for all of us, then obviously that's what we're looking for. But, I suspect Bill can't accomodate all of us inside, and I won't leave my car out all night.

Fred,
Are you bringing your BABY or your COBRA
I'll bring along my .44 Magnum if you like, and I have a chair so we can sit you in the parking lot as our offical guard of the Deep South Cobra Club I have never been at Southern Automotive but Bill would need a hellava place to put up 60 or more Cobras in side.
Dan
Do you want to be our guard or our photographer?

But, Dan....my 'Baby' IS my 'Cobra'...
They're actually one in the same!
Dan, it's not the 'security' I'm so much worried about. I'm guessing these cars are the least stolen and messed with cars in the world. Who would steal one - where would the thief hide it? What's he gonna do....re-paint it? I know they've been stolen before - look at Randy Klein's "Mariah", but it was some crazy....and NO ONE can protect from the crazies! A secured lot really only stops curiosity seekers who want to jump in and see what it's like to sit in one, or wonders what's under your hood, and so on.
No, I'm more worried about the weather, and I don't care WHAT you're packin', you can't shoot the raindrops fast enough.... I've been to enough soirees with Porsche Club and had to watch 40+ hours of concours prep time go to hell in 15 minutes because of thunderstorming downpour in Atlanta. Needless to say, it served to 'level the playing field', and definitely favored those who didn't do a lot of prep work. But, those of us who did took it in the shorts - BIG TIME! I'd rather know my car's safe and secure in it's mobile garage, thanks just the same.
Hey! so I'm anal retentive....I don't have a problem with it, okay?
...and I'd be more than willing to take my turn as 'guard'., if need be.

Freddie,
I am in the same boat.
I plan on parking my trailer at the hotel and removing my car in the morning for festivities.
If we happen to come across a shower, the hotel is not far from Southern Automotive for safe storage.
I dont forsee a problem with leaving a locked trailer at the hotel parking lot.
I'd rather leave my car in the safety of the locked (dry) trailer then leaving her amongst the elements at Southern Automotive for the night.
Why all of a sudden are we talking about rain, it is going to be a beautiful dry weekend
I'm sure there will be others who feel the same way.
Ed

YESSSSSSSS....NO RAIN!
I'm wit'ya, bro...! NO RAIN! I said No RAIN! Are you listening...?
NO FREAKIN' RAIN!
I'm glad someone else is as bad as I am, Ed. I don't mind being the 'odd man out' even if I'm the only one who doesn't like to leave his 'baby' out all night. I'm fully aware of my wierdness...okay, like I said, it doesn't bother me. I sleep well, don't have any real hang-ups...(well, there is this spider thing....but that's another story for another time), and am fairly well adjusted to my wierdness. I'm an anal retentive, obessive, compulsive COBRA FANATIC.
But, somehow, I sense I'm at home with this band of crazies, car bums, and wackos...these are my people!
We WILL be having cocktails together, soon.

It better not RAIN, I haven't seen Rain in months down here in Cape Coral. I'm bringing my umbrella to make sure it will not RAIN. We already had a meeting with RAIN, last year.
