Gainesville againe June 8th
The Hampton is booked for 18 rooms. June 7 and 8.
Room Code "scc" for "South Cobra Club" rate is
69.00 per night, like last time.
We have the track on June 8th, from 8am to 5pm,
with permission to lock the gates.
I'll set up dinner RSVPs for both nights.
If you guys want to write this up on Club Cobra,
DSCC section, I'll be out of town for a few days
working. If not, I'll do it when I get back.
Thanks, Joe
I am writing this to let everyone know that Joe Smith has reserved the track again for June 8th. Hopefully this time we will not have any uninvited guests setting up fake bears and dear. Same rules as last time deposits sent to:
DSCC
3668 Misty Woods Circle
Pace, FL 32571
We only had 16 drivers show up and only 14 got to run last wekend so I would expect some of you to put down the Turtle Wax and actually drive you plastic play toys. This would be much more fun if more COBRAS show up to try and beet back the Vettes and Station Wagons. We have done this twice and the only casualities so far have been Dinos Serpentine belt, Joes hydraulic clutch line and a couple of tires with dirt in the sidewalls. I garantee that you will have fun even if you just come to pit crew or work the corners.
If more of these non-cobras keep comming while the rest of you COBRA owners stay home I will rename this Club the Deep South Cobra Waxers Club Just kidding.

Dino I'll have my gas leak fixed tomorrow night and be reay to roll. June 8th it is! I'm even ordering 17" wheels and Kuhmo tires for the occassion. Got to beat those Vettes! Ken Collet came real close last time, so let's get with it guys!
Ruble is right, waxing time is over, be a real cobra driver and come on down to Gainesville.
BTW, Joe has permission to place two locks belonging to us on the gates. This time we truely will be "locked in" during the runs.
We will give the ambulance crew a key, however!

Great job Joe, Ruble & Jerry!!!!
You guys know you can count on me to be there....I can see I have many mods to perform on my car before June if I want to run with the BIG DOGS!!!
Jerry, I'm sorry I forgot to give you back that rubber ball you lent to me to keep the fuel from sloshing out of the filler cap. I think that ball was causing a vacuum in my fuel system, which was why I kept on bogging out on every first lap I ran and then seemed to operate at less than full power (maybe Jerry C's problem also?). When I got home and remembered that I still had the ball installed under the cap, I went to pull it out and it was about 1/3 drawn into the fuel inlet pipe, wedged in very tight. I've got to figure out a way to prevent the sloshing without causing the system to lean out due to vacuum.
Joe, how did you make out with your car? Have you identified the hydraulic problem yet?
Ruble, I forgot to tell you, I watched you quite a bit on Saturday and I thought you were driving really well. Very smooth and consistent through the toughest sections of the track.
Dino, are you planning on installing a speedy-dry dispenser on the back of your car for G'ville #3???

Smooth and Consistant is ok but I really want to go faster. Ithink I need better rear gears than those 2.73's I ran in 2nd 90% of the time. Oh well If I had not spent so much on the track time I could afford gears. I guess I will have to get smoother and more consistant

Mike...speedy dry??? That's just cruel man!!!!! Sorry I screwed up the track...even sorrier I didn't get to run!!!! That's OK...I had a GREAT time anyway...and even the "speedy dry" comments won't deter me from being there...in full force NEXT TIME!!!! I may bring a "sleeper" with me....since Engineer Ed is so proud of himself....and I drive so dern bad!!!! I have a few "drivers" who have already contacted me to drive THE BEAST in the next meet....just don't know if they want money....beer...food...or something else I can't really afford!!!! hahhhhhhahaha dino

Dino, I couldn't resist......
Sorry buddy, but I couldn't pass up a prime opportunity to take a cheap shot at your misfortune, what can I say, it's a nasty flaw in my character.... I know you're a good sport, so I figured I could get away with it.
The BEAST looked like it was running real strong too until it threw the belt and puked all over the track!!
The heck with bribing someone else to drive for you, driving it yourself is the best part of the whole gig!!!
You're a good guy and I'll look forward to seeing you and the BEAST at the next club event.
Ruble,
no question about needing better gears, especially for the G'ville track with its short straights and tight turns. I've got 3.08's in my car and I couldn't even use 3rd gear. I told you I've got an extra set of 3.08s that I'll donate to you if you think you can use them. BTW, better gears & more power = faster lap times only if you are smooth and consistant to begin with. See, you're already half way there....
Jerry,
So you're going for the big rubber ala Ken Collet and his beautiful SPF. This is like a nuclear arms race

Mike thanks for the offer I will keep it in mind. Something tells me that the carriers on a Dana 36 are different for the <2.87 and the >2.87??
I really think I need some 3.55 gears so I can actually shift the car at a track like this

Well, I see your racing has become a thing of the man with the latest toys. Tires, gears, MORE HorsePower, and even someone that knows how to drive. I guess this means I will see you all in April so you can get some pointers from Dennis Olthoff and possibly his father Bob at our Sunday sessions.

Pointers? We need parts!!! Big bad expensive parts. Gears, superchargers, sticky tires etc. Next we will be expecting beautiful girls in skimpy swimsuits to greet us at the podium to give us the Gainesville throphy and help us spray Champaign. Someone stop me

We use to have a car show here in the Cape that had the Hooters girls show up as part of the car show. They useally didn't have enough girls to work Hooters let alone send them off to the car show. Maybe I can get one of our bikini clad hotdog girls to come to your next race in June, hotdogs and girls. I told you to put a BIG BLOCK in your car instead of that puny little Ford.

You tell him, Dan!!!
what the heck am I talking about, I've got a small block too....
Dan, by all means, you should entice the hotdog girls to attend our next event, maybe then we'll get a reasonable turnout of DSCC members....
Ruble, I agree with the 3.55s as a minumum, but the 3.08s are a good compromise gear for a street driven car. I want to step up to better gearing, but then I'll also have to switch to a 5 or 6 speed OD to maintain driveability.
Since I'll be driving my car up to Atlanta in April, the 3.08s are going to stay in my car until then....
Mike

Small Block? Dan bring that big old Chevy Boat anchor to our next event and you migh be suprised how a "small" block runs. That twin turbo 2.8 Liter small block Audi ran real good.
Forget the chevy bring the girl, a soap box and some champaign(maybe we should drink milk).

OK, my check was cashed so Im in!
Jim Pomroy mentioned he would be there in yellow...
He will be leaving "In the Red" after I beat him down for the second time.
I'll be sure to stay in front of "The Beast" to keep from getting a radiator fluid shower
I cant wait. Its going to be hot so be sure to bring fluids, and not only those designed for your car!
