Ruble,
Have you sent a letter off to Dennis Olthoff asking if he could make it to Gainsville? Tell him to bring a long enough guys to fill the remaining slots.

Hey guys, the AC trailer sounds awful good to me! I can't stand heat anymore in direct sun light, so w/o the trailer I might succumb to the heat! Ed, good deal, and I vote we pay you for the gas for the AC.
We still don't know about our favorite Vette friend & gal friend,Geoff and Roberta. We were with them today at a Vette Club brunch and they are still not sure if they can come. Very interesting, though, I was talking to Geoff and he said Roberta wants a convertable. I said, well, you know I have a Cobra convertable for sale. He asked a lot of detail questions and is somewhat interested in my red car! We may have a convert here! I told him everyone should have one of each, as it's the only way to have the best of BOTH worlds, and he agreed.

Dino,
I'll see if I can rig up a governor on the 347 stroker to tune it down.
That way you have a shot at keeping up with me
Hope you can make it!

Important / New Updated Gainesville June 8th Information...Please Read!!!!
I have spoken with the track. We are going to try to start running at 6 or 7

I'll announce the details as we get them.
Dinner convoy will leave the Hampton at 7:15 pm on Friday night June 7th,
resturant T.B.A. (probably Outback Steakhouse again)
Tech will occur after dinner, Hampton Lobby, 9pm on Friday.
Drivers MUST attend this meeting. (Please bring checkbook)
Dinner convoy Saturday night will leave at 7:15pm on June 8th.
for Napolatano's, 606 N.W. 75th Street. One exit north of the Hampton

Gary Matthew and his wife will provide catered lunches for us at the track,

us last time, and the food was excellent!
You might want to bring a small awning or tent....and lots of water. It
will be hot!

Joe,
Thanks for setting things up.
I'll have the trailer ready for the heat!
If we are able to get on the track at 6:00 to set things up, that will be great. We can start to run after the light breaks and we feel it is safe enough.
We have to perform parade lap and set up course worker assignment, but most of that can be dealt with at the drivers meeting.
I'll be at the hotel around 3~4:00 Friday.
Let me know if you need me to help with anything.

Thanks, Ed !
You're going to be the most popular guy at the raceway. You'll be the
only cool spot for miles!
I just spoke with Gary Matthew, he says his GT-40 will be at our event.
Sounds like a blast.......YeeHaw!

Ed,
Gary's a really cool guy. He was one of my professors when I was getting my engineering degree at UF . Very smart man. Always a pleasure to talk with. Since I often finished my assignments early, we would sit in his office and talk about his GT-40 and my cobra--ah the good days . When you guys see him ask him about the original cobra he used to race...
Oh and his GT-40? BEAUTIFUL ERA with a Boss 302 block and Dart heads. Did I mention how beautiful it is ? Everytime I see his car I just kind of stop and gigle. AWESOME! Just awesome. I think he's even installed a totally custom A/C system in it, too.
Ed, you better not show up in Gainesville, as I guarantee you will want to place your order after just seeing his car .
As for our EM, it doesn't look like it's going to make it this time. We've got too many items left to finish and there just wouldn't be enough time to test the car properly before the event. Sorry guys. I'll come out to watch and help out as a track worker though. And tech support . I'd love to see you all again, since I was out in CA during the last event. Also, we have a pretty well equipped shop in Gainesville, so if anyone needs anything during the event, just let us know.
Mike

Thanks Mike,
I just hope to get a ride for a few laps in that GT40.
I know I'll have a hard time beating his times, but that is why I want one so badly!
Now if I could only find a house with a three car garage and a work shop in the back yard complete with a lift....
In my price range that is....
My goal is to beat Jim Pomroy by at least 5 seconds... now that would be a good outing!
FFR1997K is sitting in the garage just waiting...
Only a few more weeks left before the big showdown!
I've got to change over my brake pads in the next few weeks and add the synthetic fluid.
What fun that is.....
Cant wait to see you again, it's been too long!
So, will Dino be there or is he enlisting a substitute driver?
I brought extra gaskets and fluids just in case.
Oh, did I mention the Cobra diaper too?
ROTFLMAO !
Ed

Mike, good to hear you are coming out to help, we need it! BTW, Joe just phoned me and said we can start at 7 AM this time. The EMTs will come early for us to try to beat the heat a bit. We need to leave the hotel at 0630 sharp. We may miss breakfest as they start at 6 AM.
15 drivers is a good number for this one. That's the cost break at the track. $1500/15 = 100/each. Gary is bringing lunch as well as his GT40. We need to know ahead of time how many lunches we need. Please post orders for lunches. I'm ordering 2 and Joe 1, so that's three so far.
As far as car prep Ed, I'm getting all new heavy springs and changing the shock settings plus I bought new 17" wheels and Kuhmo V700 racing tires. I was second big block at Talladega, expect to be first at Gainesville!

You'll be lucky if you can beat Lorrie driving the Blue Monster.

This is what it's all about boys!
The Blue Monster, I like it.
It's not going to be as much fun beating you in a FORD!
Can't wait!

Sombody needs to capture this "grudge Match" on tape so I can watch and see what I missed. Maybe we could get Speedvision to cover the event if we slap some big sponsor logos on the Cobras.
Dino could be sponsored by Zerex
Engineer Ed could be sponsored by Radio Shack
Jim Pomroy could be sponsored by Rheem
Jerry Rowley could be sponsored by Detroit Diesel
Robert Lightsey by GM pefomance products
Chris Allen by rustoleum

I can't beleave Ruble is missing the June race all because of a cruise with the wife. I could have gotten my wife to go with his wife on the cruise I also got a ride in the beast at John Phillips put have no idea if it can get out of it's own way Hell, they sent the cops down the rode to make sure we never got on it I'm glad I didn't actually drive the beast because I didn't see the cop and I would still be in jail Even if you don't get a movie made it would be nice to hear the results as to who comes out on top. I haven't seen Jim's blue monster but everytime I get to see Jim he has a differant toy. I have no idea what he will bring to my house in August, since I'm sure he is looking at something new I will enjoy what ever he brings because I like all big boy toys. Have a great and safe time, Ruble and I will be thinking about your little race.
