Caravan to Atlanta?
Anyone interested in forming a caravan to travel together up to Atlanta from points south? I'm in St. Augustine, FL and plan on leaving sometime around 11AM on Friday (12th). I'm driving my car, not trailering it, and figure it's got to be more fun travelling in a pack of Cobras.....
I'll probably take I-10 West to I-75 North, so I'd be happy to meet up with anyone along that route....

We'll be headed up from Tampa. I think we are leaving earlier though. Ed's gonna play trailer trash so we'll be making slow headway.

Jim, any idea on how much earlier you'll be leaving? Can you project an approximate time you'll be at say, Lake city or Valdosta?
Dan, I'm looking forward to seeing you and Jean again, have a safe and enjoyable trip.

Mike C,
I would have gotten back to you sooner but was out of town(Las Vegas). I'm on the Gulf Coast (Cape Coral)and I never use the Turn Pike. I will get on 75 before Punta Gorda, and I figure I have about a 570 mile trip before me, trailering my car. I usually get going early in the morning like maybe 4am. This is one of the reasons I'm leaving on Thursday and not Friday. I would love to get together with others to make the trip up north. I never really trailered my car before and I'm sure it will be much slower than normal.

Hey Dan,
I was in Punta Gorda last weekend with some friends, real nice area. Went to see Jim Morris (Jimmy Buffet wannabe) perform Friday night at the Burnt Store Marina and also on Saturday at an outdoor festival at Fisherman's Village. Also spent early half of the day Saturday at a public beach in Port Charlotte. How far are you from PG?

Mike I,
I'm about 30 miles further south of PG, I like to be south to keep warm. The wife and I almost froze our a$$es off in Las Vegas. If you ever come down this way again stop in and I will show you around Cape Coral.

We're planning on leaving Tampa around 10:00 am. Probably be south of Ocala between 11:00 and 12:00.

Trailer trash, Damn Jim that hurt.
Jim has offered the useage of his FORD truck, so the Chevy van gets a break for the weekend.
We should make better time with Jim's truck.
FIA Fred is convoying with us (tentatively).
We have plans on leaving the Tampa area at 10:00 but I'm rethinking those plans.
I'm going to try and talk Jim into a possible 9:00 departure.
Looking at 1 1/2 hours to Ocala.
For those who want to caravan with us, my cell # is: (813) 765-3769.
Give us a call and we will let you know where we are at.
I live in Valrico, so if anyone want to rally at my place Friday morning, e-mail me for directions.

Jim Pomroy and I are going to leave my house at 8:45 ~ 9:00 Friday morning.
If anyone wants to link up with us that morning along our route, please contact me for a rally point.
We will be travelling North on I-75 from the Tampa area.
My home number is (813) 661-2649.
I'll have my cell phone during the trip (813) 765-3769
So far we are leaving Valrico at 8:45.
Fredrick Savill will hopefully arrive at my house before then and will be following with his trailer.
We are meeting up with Jim Broome in the Ocala area around 10:00 ~ 10:30.
Please contact me if you are interested in linking up with us.

Ed,
I don't seem to have a Jim Broome on my membership list. Tell your friend Jim to go to our web site and join our club, or contact Keith. He will be missing out if he is not on our list.

Ed, if you "southern" guys leave the Tampa area NLT 9 AM, do you think you'll be able to reach the Lake City area around noon? Joe Smith and I are planning to meet at the I-75/I-10 interchange at about that time (I think). Let me know if that sounds do-able for you or if you'll need more time since you're towing that trailer queen....

Trailer queen.....
et tu mike?
I would expect to be in the area at that time.
Here is my cell # (813) 765-3769.
Give me a call when you get close to the I-10 / I-75 interchange and maybe we can hook up.
We will average 70 MPH, so I think we can make it.
Talk you you later.
Ed

Ed, sorry about the cheap shot "trailer queen" comment, but you and Flyin_Freddie have been taking way too many liberties with the Chevy bashing thing on the other thread....
I might have been too hasty to call your car a TQ, I'm starting to have second thoughts about spending six hours on the road in the Cobra with no radio, no A/C & no cooler. I did a three hour drive last weekend and my a$$ was killing me....
Either way, I can't wait to hit the road next week. I'll get in touch with you next Friday AM. See ya'

Mike,
I would bring along a pillow for you but I'm going up the day before, unless I leave one on the roadside. Maybe you can get Ed to give you a message when you get in to McDough. See both of you guys next weekend. Have a safe trip.
