I don't think our club could afford Atlanta Motor Speedway, unless you know the owner and I can sign him up as a new member to our club. I'm always looking for new members because I sure like the crowd that has signed on so far. If every member sent me one new member we would be over 500 tomorrow. I don't know if I can make your July 4th outing yet, still thinking about it. I would help you with the pig, but at my pig roast the pig fell off the spit into the fire he was so well done. Is your wife with child or can I expect to see you and your wife at your event?

Dan, Club Cobra does not have to rent the track....that's one of the beautiful aspects of "tagging on" to the CARS event. They rent the track for their event, and Club Cobra members pay something like 25.00 bucks per car or less to eat the lunch, watch the action, the use of one of the 60'X300' pit garages, and if anybody wants to do the track , there is always the street class if they pay for that (yes Dan,the 25.00 would be credited towards track time).
Dan, my wife does not like cars. She packs her suitcase at the first hint of engine noise. Maybe I can talk her into coming. All girlfriends and wives are welcome to come,as my wife does not want to be the only girl there.

JW, how could you, of all people, marry a woman that doesn't like cars?
My ex was the same way, that's one of the reasons why she's my ex....
Remember, girlfriends never say no....!!

My cousins from the panhandle of Florida were going to meet me and my wife in McDonough so the women could do their thing, but had to cancel because of a wedding. I think it would be nice to also plan a thing for the ladies on Saturday. I like keeping every body happy. John could you get us a date for Atlanta and some one I could get in touch with to make something like this fly for next year? Of course if you want to volunteer your time I could use all the help I can get. Freddie already turned me down but I excused him, as long as he comes next year to our event RAIN or SHINE. You can bring the same toys as this year because they are a crowd pleaser with this group. Thanks John and Freddie, it was nice meeting both of you and all the others that braved the weather.

Dan, for the ladies activities next year, a wet T-shirt contest.....
I have no interest in planning next years event, as I do not want my work to be compared to the great job the Parhams, McFarlands, etc. did with Wet n' Wild II. Besides, I have talked about this track deal for 3 days and there are a total of two interested parties. I am just not the salesman needed to throw one of these gigs.

John,
You don't have to plan anything I have the best guy for the job and he is now the Vice President of our club. All I need is a person to contact and a possible date about one year from now. Even if we can't get a lot of people to run the track if they could ad our group to the roster I would yell just as loud for a Corvette or a Cobra or what ever is on the track. We are only at the planning stages I have lots of ideas, it's just a little harder with plan A: DRY weather or plan B: WET weather All I need from you is your commetment to come to our party.

Roebling Road
John-
I'm in for the 3rd. I sold my FIA to a fellow down in New Orleans, but since the event in Kershaw last November I have built a 944 N/A Porsche for track events. I just got back from 3 days at roebling where I got signed off by PCA. Its a great track and I had a super time. the new car doesn't get out of its own way on the straights, but it is hell in the corners. my best in this car was a 1:29. I miss the Cobra a bunch, and I am trying to decide on my next Ford-powered machine, but in the meantime I'll have fun with the Porsche. My son and I are doing a 2 day PCA DE at Kershaw this coming weekend--
I won't be able to come for the July 4 party, prior commitment, but I will be there to see the rear view of the Cobras on the Straights.

Johan,
I'm here--finally. I have been travelling a bit for work and have been busy, so my CC check-ins have only been about once or twice a week. I could probably talk the wife and kids into it. BTW, found out the vibration problem I had at AMS last time--$1,000 later, it's fixed. Bearing on counterbalancer shaft froze, ripped all the teeth off the belt, etc. Gotta love this racing stuff.
See my other fun story about my cobra elsewhere on this site.

John--
Spoke with Steve at Carz today--I'm in for the 100. Sounds like real low-key fun day. I was back at Roebling week before last and I;m down in the 1:27's so I think I'm getting the hang of it. Now, if I just had some v-8 (small block) power...
See you the 3rd of July.

GUYS--
ARE SOME OF YOU COBRA GUYS GOING TO MAKE IT TO JOHN'S BASH?? I SURE HOPE SO.
ROEBLING ROAD IS A PERFECT TRACK TO SEE WHAT YOUR CARS CAN DO IN A CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT. GAINESVILLE AND TALLEDEGA ARE GREAT, BUT SO SHORT THAT ITS MORE LIKE A BIG AUTOCROSS. THE CARZ PEOPLE WHO PUT ON THE JULY 3RD EVENT ARE EXPERT IN HAVING SAFE LAID-BACK LAPPING DAYS. WHILE THERE WILL BE A RACE THAT DAY, THERE WILL BE LOTS OF OPEN TRACK TIME FOR NON RACERS. IF YOU HAVE A BIG BLOCK AND ARE TIRED OF HAVING YOUR BUTTS HANDED TO YOU BY SMALL AND MEDIUM BLOCKS, ROEBLING HAS A COUPLE OF NICE STRAIGHTS THAT WILL HELP YOU TAKE BACK WHAT YOU LOSE IN THE TURNS JUST KIDDING (OR NOT).
LETS SEE A BUNCH OF YOU ON THE 3RD--I MISS THE SOUND OF V-8'S MY LITTLE FOUR-BANGER IS SO QUIET THAT I CAN'T TELL ITS ON WITHOUT LOOKING AT THE TACH-BUMMER.

July 3rd huh? Since the wife made me go on this cruise and miss the Gainesville track day I migt try and go to this event.
A few question though
1. cost for street class is $195???
2. I do not have a professional race license so can I participate in the street class.
3. what is th safety equipment requirement? Helment class etc.

Ruble-
You will be fine for street class, single roll hoop and helmet are required. No passengers allowed if you only have a single hoop, though if you talk to them they may allow an exception. I was allowed to take excelguru around for a few laps at CMP with the Carz guys--nice folks. You will get a bunch of track time, well worth the $$$

John,
Will you be on Hilton Head Friday this week? I am flying the Bonanza there tomorrow for a business trip and will depart from business function around 1PM or so on Friday for return to ATL.

I haven't bid my July Schedule yet but I don't think it will be a problem. Do you know if they let a Motorhome park at the track? We did that at Run & Gun and it was great. Also I'd like to do the track time as I need to practice for R & G in September.
But you guys have to promise not to laugh at my 6 cylinder Cobra...
Looking forward to the 3rd.
Regards,

They have my money, who else is going to make it?? I sure hope to see a bunch of Cobras and their owners for this fun event at a truly great (and safe) track.
Fasttech has an event at Roebling Road the weekend before with about 8 hours of track time for each class. I'll be there getting "dialed-in" Fasttech can be reached by calling 865-457-6532. This event is being run under the auspices of the POC but is open to all types of cars. Call to discuss safety/tech issues. I will be bringing both a 996 c-4 and my 944 racer to that event.

sounds good, I called the number and I am in. This will give us a chance to practice, for the willis. JW is coming too and bringing a cooler of beer, and the chances of it raining becomes less important spread out over three days. The comfort in has a special rate of 40 something dollars if you mention the race event . The hotel is at U.S. 80 and I-95.
