Question Georgia Registration

Thanks for the feedback on my first post. Now on a more local note, how have you Georgia guys registered your cars? I have seen a few with Historic Tags, how hard is that to achieve? I plan to go with a 351 carburator motor. Thanks in advance. I'm starting to get pumped up knowing that my life long dream is soon to become reality.

Snake,

Your car can usually be titled as a 1965 (at least I know the Uniques can be). In that case, you can elect to get the vintage plate which is actually cheaper, to my understanding, than a normal plate. It's a nice little loophole to save money and it gives a nice finishing touch to the car, in my opinion.

I know the Weavers can point you in the right direction on that one.

You do realize that one of the DSCC members (Jerry Rowley) has a 427-powered Unique for sale right now, don't you? It's on display at Southern Automotive down in McDonough. Email me if you're interested and I'll send you his phone number.

If you can't wait Jerry's Unique Cobra is red/white and if you like we have another member with a blue Unique. Fred Savill's is for sale, and you can see it in the link above.

Default Antique plate

When I purchased my Johnex Cobra I simply filled out a "Bill of Sale" with the owner who hadn't finished the kit.

I went to the local Tag office (Fayetteville) and gave them the Bill of Sale. They said $25.00 and handed me an antique plate without ever seeing the car. Couldn't have been easier.

I then took the car home yanked the 302 out of it and installed the Buick. No emission testing or any other problems except an annual plate renewal charge.

Hope that helps,

PS: I highly recommend Unique. If I hadn't found the Johnex I would have gone with them.

If you don't have an out of state tag receipt though and car was not previously titled in GA, you will need a one page "inspection form" signed by a cop that validates serial numbers. That with a bill of sale showing it as a 65 or whatever, works!! the closer you are to Atlanta, you more scutiny you will likely get.

Say it was a restoration car and was in a dusty barn in Alabama or whatever. I can discuss some of the nuances with you more when we hook up tomorrow.
