Cobra Bash
COBRA BASH
With our club growing as fast as it has, and with about 115 people in the state of Florida alone, I thought it was time that more of us met each other. I'm setting aside Saturday August 10th 2002 for a Cobra Bash, and gathering of club members. I know that it will likely be hot and rain in the after noon. It has already been way above normal and summer hot for over a month but with no after noon rains(Hell, you know all about it you also live in Florida). It's already months away and I didn't want to make it any later in the year. I thought we could start out early and if you make it by 8am I'll throw on the coffee pot and buy a box of donuts. If it gets to hot we can jump into my 10X40 lap pool and cool off. I will have plenty to drink and eat because I know theres not much room to bring things in a Cobra. I'll plan a cruise out to the islands and we could buy lunch at a resturant, what ever. Right now we need input as to how many people we can get to come, maps to follow. I'm in Cape Coral across the river from Fort Myers. I'm about 3 hours away from Orlando and when I drove to John Phillips house for the Cobra build it was also 3 hours away. Make a post and tell me if you can make it. I'm hoping for all 115 people living in Florida, but everyone in the Deep South Cobra Club is welcome from any of the 8 states. Let's set this up to make it a success, so give me your input.

Hello. The gathering sounds great. Can you tell me if I am already a DSCC member. Thanks. P.S. My Hunter Cobra is only weeks away from completion.

vphil,
I don't think I have you down as a member but I only have vphil to go by and I can't find you on our list. I will email you. Sarasota is not that far from my home and it would be a nice drive. Maybe we can find more to make the trip down with you. Ed Kamptner (Engineer Ed) is coming from Valrico same coast. I'm going to make a post on how to get to my home with phone numbers so you can print it out and find your way to our bash.

Frank,
You don't have to be a member to come but as you can see I'm working on signing up anyone with a Cobra interest, especially in Florida. Bring your son and come on over, bring the kids swim suit. See you in August.

Jim,
Since it's a few months away bring what ever you will be driving on that date. My buddy in the Cape is a Cobra enthusiast but will be driving a Corvette.

Dan -
The event sounds like a winner. I plan on being there, and available to help out however I can.
I doubt that the Coupe will be ready then, so I'll probably have to just fondle all the other cars!
The only thing that could possibly keep me from attending was if the Coupe was being brought down that day - and with all the time it has taken I seriously doubt that is a likely outcome.

Jim,
If the Coupe comes in on that day have Mike deliver it to my house then you can drive it home after we all get a ride.
I have never been in an air-conditioned race car. We're going to try and have a lot of get togethers in our area. If you ever do get the Coupe maybe you can take a turn.

Hey Dan, Sign me up as well. I don't think my FFR will be done by then though.

Joe,
You are exactly the type of person we are looking for, you are building a Cobra and know that you might use it if you find enough people that become friends to run with. Like Frank I will try and sign you to our club, hell it doesn't cost anything. Welcome on Board. If you are in the driving state bring you car completed or not, there were lots of Cobras at John Phillips build not finished.

Joe,
I just sent the wife off to Jamaica with her girl friend today. I'm already invited to my brothers house here in the Cape for dinner. See you in August with or without your ride. Have a good time.

I'm there...
Dan,
As a fello "Cobra Bash" planner, I'll be there early.
Plan on getting those doughnuts and lots of coffee.
Renee and I already have matching bathing suits, well, at least hers is a bikini, not mine
FYI:
The second "Cobra Bash" will be held in the Tampa area.
Dan and I are still working on the date.
It will be held later in the year, or possibly early next year before the DSCC meeting.
I am still trying to buy a new house, so the location is yet to be determined.
I am trying to get a Dyno for the day or at the least a location to do some auto-Xing or skidpad.
Looking forward to meeting as many of the Florida owners as possible. It will be great to get together as a group and do SOMETHING !!!
Calendar is marked.

Ed,
Don't get Renee mad when looking for your new home. I know you are out looking to see if it has a 3 or 4 car garage, while the wife is inside the house counting bedrooms. Tell her 4 bedrooms and 4 garages would just about be right, maybe then she could actually park her car in a garage. I wish you luck on your new garage, I mean home Think Cobra Bash when picking out that new home See you in August, by then you can bring pictures of your new house.

I hope so!
I've cancelled all Cobra events (except Gainesville) due to a possible move.
You have it right, I'm looking at the garage, she is looking at the house.
My other option is room on the property for a work shop!
I need room to build the GT40.
What are our options for a hotel near you for that weekend?
Lobster season? Do you think we need to make reservations early?
