With Chuck's quick time it sounds like the top five slots were not dominated by big blocks. Maybe a stock FFR with only 225hp was pretty high up on the list.
Does anyone have a complete list of drivers and times?
That would be nice to see.

Glad to see that everyone had a great time even though it was shortened by rain. Next time wait a while and it might just quit.
I want to thank Dennis Olthoff for gracing this event as it is great to see someone with his creditentials playing with mere mortals. It looks like some of the Gainesville regulars are getting rather good at this road racing.
I hate that I had to miss this event because of a Cruise but I did have a great time. I was looking forward to seeing Dennis sling his cobra around a track, seeing Jim and Ed try to beet each other's times and Dino water the track.
Dino hope you get this belt slinging figured out as I am sure you have a Cobra that is second to none on the track. Are you just reving past the belts limits???
Joe I say we try to make the event more than one day next time so the two days of driving are worth it to some. Maybe we can have a poker run at noon on friday followed by a early supper and if the track has a test and tune session at the drags friday night some of us could have a few grudge runs before we hit the track Saturday. If no test and tune we could just go to a well lit prking lot or Sonic Drive in(with permission) and have a Cobra/Car show.
Has anyone found out about the cost of a timing system for the Club? Maybe we could buy the system then pay the club back with a $20 fee added to each drivers track time. We are saving almost that much because Jerry Rowley has purchased a tent that saves $150 per event.
I would like to see a longer event with some things for non racers to do. We could even have a car show during the event with a few ribbons for best paint, worst paint, best engine, big block, small block etc.

Chuck, sorry, I've been busy and haven't posted the top times for each driver yet. I will when I can. Some of the times require a little math and close scrutiny (some are mulitple lap added times). Everybody did well, some better than others.
Ruble, I can't believe you said "WAX EVENT"! My God, we can do that anytime When I race, I race, when I wax, I wax! A rally would be OK, but, how about two days on the track instead?
Now that's my idea of a two day event! Don't you agree?
I found I blew the grease seals in my Jag rear end, that's why I was smoking a bit. I fixed the bent gas pedal and found a pivot loose on the firewall! Track time really puts the strain on the cars!
I get my four wheel alignment next week at the frame shop, then my Kuhmos will start to work! Oh well, details, details.

John,
Please send me any info you have on Roebling Road....
I'm still looking for a house but I may get lucky this weekend.
Let me know what ever you have on the event, lodging, etc...
Can we run the course on street tires?
I have yet to pick up race tires... hopefully soon!
Thanks,
Ed

I have talked to him about this and tire type is open for the street group.slicks, semi race, dot, non dot, whatever..so long as speed rated like z50/15's or something.but there is some equipment required perhaps, better check worldcarz website for street group. you have to sign a waiver and if you blow a tire and wreck it is your fault/problem. There will be some informal instructing going on for free, . He has some of his racing buddies coming, and when they are not driving, they might ride with you if they do not think you are a goof.I think that there must be the same protection for the passenger as the driver. There is no passing in the corners in the street group. I don't think anybody on this forum is going to be in the race group. Some of the cars in the race group are very fast, running times that are 20-30 seconds faster than the street group.I think passengers are allowed .you have to email him your address for an invitation, cause there is catered food and stuff. There is a cookout at the track the night of the second, then the fun begins at 7 am the 3rd, with a street group and a race group running 30 minute (20 lap )sessions . Then a lunch cook out, and then go th Hilton head Island for the fourth of july and another cook out, and beer and the beach and a pool. in the afternoonof the 3rd is the 100 mile race (1 hour) and I am in J.W. pit crew for this about which I am excited. There is more info at the event organizer
www.worldcarz.com
or the track
www.roeblingroad.com
I missed Gainsville and I am not going to miss this.....Come on Ed, lets go... Picture yourself on Dinos ass through the corners, and then as you come on to the straightaway, you flip him a bird and pass, what could be better. ?

Well,
I already have hotel reservations in St Pete for the week of the 4th. This is our yearly beach retreat for a few days and I have already payed for the hotel. Cant change unfortunately.
I'm wanting to know if this is an annual event at the track, cost, etc...
I'd like to see if it is something new my wife and I could plan for every year.

Spyderman,
I saw your movie a couple of weeks ago not bad Ed my buddy John had the same party last year but had to leave early to be with his wife as she delivered. John will probally be at this years event. I would love to come up and just watch but it's sooo far. I will be just returning from Ohio, just to much to do and I'm not looking for a new home, thats until the wife tells me it's time for the Alzheimers Ward.

I think that's what Willis had in mind, a beach trip with racing, a cookout, and car show. I hope it is every year. Lets see, would I rather sit on the beach or race my car or both ? I say both. I did not know it was last year too, and I don't know if it next year, and I hope it does not rain on the third of July. By the way these guys are racing for 5 days, not 1 day, but the third is the only day open to street cars. Ed, do not even ask me to share my room.

Well, I will tag onto the end and add about 2cents worth. Gainesville was lots of fun, glad I went. I like the idea of timing equipment, this would remove all doubt, and as previously stated be an accurate indicator of changes made. I personally did not do as well as I had hoped, will need to get into the old bag of excuses and pull out one I haven't used before. I think we would all have done better had we got to run more. Mother nature done us bad, or we read her wrong maybe. Anybody out there going to the SCCA (Central Florida Region Drivers School), being held at Daytona International Speedway on July 20-21? I am hoping to attend, have sent in my application. If interested call me at 321-720-1985, I will share what I know about it.

By the way, that last post was my Cell phone, my home phone is 321-777-0457 if it is by evening, or this weekend. I am reasonably sure you must be a member of SCCA to attend They are a good organization, and the information is in their latest monthly magazine called the Checker, Central Florida Region, Solo II.
