Ruble can you add two more to the dinner list on Saturday please.
I won't be able to make Friday, but I'll be at the drivers meeting for sure.
I also have a friend with a Mustang Cobra SVT that would like to race, so if someone drops out he would be interested. Otherwise he will settle for being ballast for me.
25 cars, this is going to be exciting.
As always and before, if anyone needs some help, I live in Gainesville and will be glad to help out in any capacity that I can.

Chuck,
Just to let you know, the drivers meeting will be held at the hotel at 9:00 Friday night.
All drivers for Saturday need to be present at the meeting and have your vehicle inspected.
Be sure to be at the meeting at 9:00.

wow looks like there will be plenty of roadsters to see....
so is anyone interested in two "pit crew" members?? my buddy jimmy and I are both University of Florida students. we're from the tampa area (missed the Land o Lakes gathering--homecoming up here), and are dying to go/help out at the gainesville track. maybe jimmy's dad will let us bring his cobra, but i doubt it.
anyways, if anyone wants to put up with us on their pit crew, let me know.
thanks,
Evan

Dan,
When did we add the fire extinguisher rule? I didn't have that the last time we ran. I'd really prefer not to permanently mount it into my car.

David,
The fire extinguisher ruling is for your safety.
If you have one in the car, it must be permanently installed.
This way it wont fall out or become a missle in case of an accident.
The lack of an extinguisher will not keep you from racing.
We just make sure that if one is present, it is securely mounted.
I hope that clears it up for you.
Ed

I was just on the weather channel sight and the extended forecast calls for a 60% chance of rain on Saturday. What do we do if it rains?

Thanks Ed, my buddy Jimmy (from carrollwood) and I, would love to meet you and be on your pit team. About the Tampa convoy, we are already in Gainesville (UF students) so that won't be necessary.
Aumore...I will be willing and able to attend the meeting on Friday if necessary. Will have to ask Jimmy if his schedule is free as well. Just let me know if you want me to attend.
Ed, aumore...my gainesville phone # is (352) 846-8241, in case you need to get ahold of me, or, of course, you can email me or post.
Thanks a lot guys, looking foward to it.
Evan

I'll give you a call on Friday.
You must make the drivers meeting.
We will not allow anyone to enter the facility who has not attended the meeting.
My cell # is (813) 765-3769.
Give me a call if you havent heard from me by Friday evening.
I may forget....
Jim and I will be at the track Friday afternoon setting things up.
The meeting will be held in the lobby of the hampton at 9:00 pm.
I look forward to meeting you there.
Having a pit crew is always a good thing.
Someone to help with the work assignments also!
I'm looking forward to a fun weekend.

stand around and get wet.
The fire extinguisher rule has been there since the begining. You put a lot more stress on you car when you run it at the track. There is a much higher chance of a problem. We had 1 car drive the car to the track and not be able to make a complete lap without throwing a belt. The chance of fire is high. It's your car, if you want to stand there and watch it burn.... I want as many fire extinguishers at the track as possible. Screw that bracket to something that is carpeted. Remove after the race.

The weather will be perfect for making horsepower.
Highs in the low 50's! Brrrrr
It's going to be cold so bring appropriate gear for standing outside all day...
My thoughts on the fire extinguisher mirror those of Jim's.
We run our cars very hard at this track and things can break.
Accidents happen and we cannot prevent that. We can only prepare for the worst and try and protect ourselves.
I now wear a flame retardant fire suit, gloves, shoes and neck brace for this track. Yeah I hope I never need it but I'll be glad if I did.
Last time out one of the guys brake fluid leaked out onto his headers...
Fire had started and luckily for the driver there was an extinguisher close by. Things could have been much worse than they were. Thankfully the only damage was a dirty engine compartment and embarrasment. We'd hate to see any cars burn up. Guy's, you are responsible for protecting your own cars.
Again, accidents happen and it's better to be safe than sorry.
It's your car and we recommend you have a fire extinguisher installed for your safety.
It is not required but highly recommended you have appropriate safety equipment to protect yourself and your car.
This track is not an auto-x. It is a test track and speeds can get in excess of 100mph. We do not want to get anyone injured or damage any of our cars.
Lets have fun!
Ed
