Default September Atlanta area get together

Have we set a date yet for a September get together? I cannot do the weekend of the 14th I think it is, unless you guys want to go to Road Atlanta and watch the Historic Races there. I also will go to the Wings over Dixie air show one of those two days with the family. Maybe we should do a back roads drive to Road Atlanta and then hang out there? Any takers?

Excellent idea!!

I try to go to the Historics each year, it would be good to have a group there.

Maybe meet at a Waffle House in Roswell or Alpharetta....maybe McFarland Rd(?) then take the backroads to RA?

Sounds like a deal then--we now have 2 going. We can always have more than one Cobra get together in September as well

<http://www.hsrrace.com/background.htm>

Some really really cool stuff shows up. Stuff that even JW thinks is cool!

Count me in unless I can't get my new radiator in by then. What the heck, I'll go anyway. I told myself I wouldn't miss both races this year.

Gents;
Date looks good for me at this point, and I would love to get up to Road Atlanta. As long as the weather forecast is OK--I have no top or even tonneau cover, although I do carry one of those big blue plastic tarps in the trunk, just in case.

Toy Collector--I think I passed you this past Sunday late morning on Ranchette Rd, heading toward Rt. 140. I was not in the Cobra, but the one I passed was a black car with silver stripes?
Could that have been you?

I'll be in Chicago from the 12th to the 14th as the best man in a friend's wedding.

But like you said, there's no rule against more than one Cobra gathering in a month! Would you guys be interested in doing something the following weekend, also? Or maybe the weekend after that?

Smile Hey....when is this scheduled?

I'm unable to attend the Second Strike event at Charlotte on the third weekend of September, but the second weekend is open for me. Is this when this little get together is scheduled...?

If someone can let me park a trailer at their palacial estate.....(hmmmmmmm, who could do that?....Let me see here....could it beeeeee.....TeeCee? Hmmmmmmmm?) ...I'd drive down for the festivities and maybe a few brewskis....

But, I don't want to just 'invite' myself....
What say ye, boys....?

TC - Y'all have fun this weekend at the cruise!

FF - Come on down!

Say, there's an idea... whaddya say we meet at the Po Boy's cruise in September? I don't have a calendar in front of me, but it should be the 20th or 21st or whatever. That should be the weekend after the Historics Races (third Saturday). Of course, we could also do something earlier in the day, since the PBC doesn't start up till around 4:00-ish (if you wanna good parking place).

Freddie,

You are welcome here anytime. As a matter of fact, the extra guest bedroom in the "carriage house" may be furnished by then--if not I have a spare in the normal house. There is a "stocked" fridge that is full of beers in the garage and pretty much nothing else in it other than some water for those "mornings after

I can back a 24 foot enclosed trailer down my driveway and kind of put it into the turn out near my front door so cars can still get by from the home garage, so that IS an option, and I do it whenever I load the race car.

Let us know if you are up for the road trip!! Schedule for the races will be at the website I posted above.

Thumbs up Hmmmmmmm.....this is soundin' too good......

Well, since I can't make our Second Strike event at Charlotte on 9/21-22, I just may be able to talk the better half into letting me go to ATL on 9/13-15... The Historics would be a fun weekend, wouldn't it...provided the weather cooperated. One of my best buddies lives in Dacula....hmmmmmm...this is a distinct possibility.

Lemme do some checkin' with the aircraft commander, and I'll get back with you.

TeeCee....you sure about all this?

Hey TC, can I stay at your house for a while and do some mech work ? Sounds like just what I have been looking for. I asked JW (confronted him in his driveway ! ) if he were going to the Atlanta Historics, and he said he was, but as a result of the Bob Akin accident the race groups are all being reshuffeled and there is not currently a group for the Can Am car. I say let's all use JW's trailerr as a base camp. There is a party for drivers and crew at 5:00 too that we could go to FOR FREE. Look for either the Budweiser Can Am car or the #94 Macdonalds car, Hey TC are you gonna be a spectater or a participant ? I bet I can get you out on the track if we act now ! Just lemmeuseyourgarage. Get used to that word.

Spyderman,

I would be doing the Historics as a spectator, since I don't have anything historic that I could run (yet), and I don't have a HSRA/SVRA license. Already talked to JW about what it takes to get one, and that is my goal. I am running RA weekend after this one with the PCA DE. Did AMS Worldcarz a few weekends ago so tracktime has not been lacking. I need new tires on the race car as well so I am going broke slowly with this race car stuff as it is.

If you and/or JW need to come over, let me know. I will be out of town next week, around this weekend, at RA next weekend.

Talking This is lookin' good.....real goooooood...

Talked to the boss last night and got an 'A-OK' for Historic Races in Sept. Talked to one of my best buds in Dacula, and he said he'd like to ride along with us. Looks like I may wind up staying with him, Mike....still haven't wigged it all out yet.

Need particulars on what everyone's plans are for these races. Where to meet? Tickets? Parking at Road Atlanta? and so on....

Can anyone supply more details...?

Looks like I may get a fall Cobra trip out of all this afterall....!

Probably, but cross dressing and shaving our legs may be needed so we can blend in

Dave, whassup
If there are 2 cars entered there are 8 pit passes, but it just looks like there will be one entered, so 4 pit passes, which are taken by the actual pit crew, bless their little bosoms, boosums how do you spell that word ?. Check for sure though, as I know a name to use to get in free. TC does it all the time. Are you willing to wear the uniform ? TC obviously has his own ideas about what to wear and what to nair.
As far as the party goes, anybody in the pits can go if they know the password.
Thursday is test, actually the most track time of all
Friday is practice, differs from test as now the car runs right on
Saturday is qualifying races, and the day for us to show up
Sunday is the dash and enduro races ,and alot of quiet time.
I'll be staying at toy collector's house next week making some last minute attempts to get the thing running good enough to land me near the podium .
You'll smell me before you see me cause I have not washed my driving suit since I got it, and it's a bit too stiff now to get in the machine.
