Spyderman, you can pressure wash your suit when you are over here, since it won't fit in the machine ..if you help wax my legs My wife made me wash my own...I tried squeezing an extra weekend out of it...plus I had it sitting in the race trailer for a few weeks. But I must say Spyderman, it's better than cologne to get a "pit crew" going. Irish Spring is not the only "Manly man deodorant" now is it?

Spydee,
Hey, I'll wear anything as long as it doesn't involve snaps or pumps See you at the races if not before. We are going to try to make it for the whole weekend. Let me know if I can do anything.

I took posession of my Unique car last Easter and though I've attended a dozen local cruise-ins, I haven't had the opportunity to attend any local Cobra get togethers. I live in the Dacula area and I'd like to join if I'm in town.

TC - I added this Road Atlanta gathering to the "calendar" on Club Cobra for September the 14th. Please take a look at it and let me know if I need to correct anything or if everything looks okay.

Atlanta area shows
Toy Collector,
Where is the Po Boy's cruise-in you were referring to?
Also, do you know of in others coming up in N. Atlanta?
By the way, I drove your car when it was on the showroom floor down at Southern Automotive. It was the first Cobra I had ever driven....kind of a skued referrence point, hu!
Thanks for the info.

September Historic Races Plan
Would someone please post the proposed schedule for this get together? I'm planning on trying to attend, but I need to put together my plan, based on what your plans might be for this event. I'll be towing my SPF from Memphis to Atlanta area....right now planning on staying with a buddy in Dacula. But all this could change based upon everyone's understanding of the proposed event.
Things to include....days we're planning on attending the qualifying/racing/enduros/etc, dinner plans, tickets, parking arrangements, who's planning on attending, and so on. I'd love to come down for this, and I know it would be a blast, but I need to know if I should leave on Thursday so we can go to the races Fri/Sat/Sun, or just plan on leave Fri to attend Sat/Sun racing only. Need to put all this together to schedule time off, etc. etc. I also have twin 3-years olds, so I need to know when to schedule Mamaw to come sit with them, and so on.
Your assistance in this would be appreciated, guys. Thanks....and looking forward to this, folks!

Freddie,
I am definitely planning on saturday, and probably Friday if work allows (it hasn't allowed much lately).
Spyderman,
Please go see your doctor(s). Your prescription needs to be adjusted and please read the labels and do not mix with other drugs you may also be taking--you are still having delusions.

The race on Saturday starts at 11:00am and lasts 10 hours or 1000 miles and the Saturday-Only ticket with Paddock access is $45 in advance.
Being there by 9:30 allows for some roaming before the start and getting in a good spot for the start.
It would be great to meet on the way and drive in together if we can. It looks like we have people on this thread from Alpharetta, Marietta and Roswell...plus anyone else staying in 'Chateau TC'... Why don't we meet for breakfast at the McFarland Road Waffle House on 400 (exit 12) then we can go up to 20 or across to McGinnis Ferry to Satellite then up 85.
Any takers for an 8:00am Steak, Egg, & Snake?
For anyone joining us at the track, we can pick a spot to gather...

Hi,
There seems to be some confusion here. This is not the Petite leMans race (that is in october).
The Atlanta Historic races(the event that we ARE talking about) is compiled of 9 groups of cars running in 9 different sessions. The schedule is posted at
www.hsrrace.com
Group 6 ( gtp cars-lemans racers) is where i got stuck. Please wish me luck. I am putting hay bales on the back of my car.
Saturday is probably the best day to go. You can not park in the pits unless you are racing. Turn seven is a great spot to see a lot of action from, just ask toy collector, as that is where he always spins.
As I write this , spiderman is on his way here for the races at roebling this weekend. He says he is staying here, but my house is full. Please if some body knows how to get in touch with him tell him to make other arrangements.

JW, your post reads like Spyderman wrote it, but I am hoping he is at the doctors. Anyway, remember to paint those hay bales bright orange as well Hear they go regroup the cars to make things safer, and they put you at risk---must have had Congress vote on it!! I read that book on Porsche 935s I bought last time you, me, and Mike were at the track wile flying to/from LAX. Great stuff.
Heyyyy, I haven't spun at RA yet...I save that for AMS. Got new tires on the 944 so the 180s should be contained and I will be running RA this weekend....have fun at Roebling.

Looks like right now, I'll be staying at a friend's home up in Dacula...about 18 miles from the track. Any chance we can meet somewhere along 85 for breakfast closer to Dacula on Saturday AM?
Also, it looks like advanced tickets aren't being sold, you gotta buy them at the track. And the schedule doesn't say anything about a 10 hour race...but a lot of smaller races for different classes...am I reading this wrong?
TC, I can be there for Friday's sessions, but it sounds like it'll be a little slow. I'm up for it, but want to maximize the funometer while I'm there. Pit passes and drooling on expensive vintage racing machinery sounds fun...throw in a few brews, and I'm all over it like a cheap suit!

FF:... I'm responsible for the 10-hour race misunderstanding (see above), I got the historics and Petit Lemans trips screwed up...trying to set up 2 events at once ..
I see you're from Germantown... I bought a house in Cordova, TN a few years back, nice area, but my relo was cancelled 2 weeks prior to closing...and we ended up in Alpharetta...
I plan to be there Saturday and if we can meet up before the race, great, let me know.
Hey TC: The nice folks at Unique said they planned to be around Saturday August 31st....pilgrimage? Its a long weekend so it may make a good trip, it not Sept/Oct works too.

Well, I ran 1:53s in traffic at Road Atlanta today. Found 5 seconds a lap, and that pace would put me mid-pack at a national PCA club race at Road Atlanta for my class, so I am making progress. Unfortunately our good pal, ex-cobra owner "Aging Racefully" Brownyard had the exact same thing happen to him, as happened to me at Roebling. Spun rod bearing in first session of the day. I CAN RELATE all too well. He took as well as anyone I have seen, and is a true gentleman.
Chill, the labor day pilgrimmage may or may not work since my Porsche pal may be doing Rennfest south of the city which is all Labor Day weekend. I will inquire however on if those plans are final. I think later Sept.Oct may be better however.
FF, see posts above. Saturday you would essentially see a zillion qualifying sessions and cars. Best day to go probably.

Hello all,
I would like to tag along and meet with you guys for breakfast if it's alright? But I can't figure out when the heck you are talking about. I have to be in Lousyanna next weekend but the rest of Sept. is open. What Weekend is it?
Chip,
How the heck have ya been? Didn't get my house bought in Brunswick but I'll tell you all about it if I get to see you at Road Atlanta. You mentioned getting to drive on the track? How much? Will they let my bud take his Viper out? It may be the only way I can talk him into taking it to Road Atlanta(I still can't afford my Cobra yet so I gotta bum rides from friend with fast cars )
Thanks,
Chad

Regarding the date, I have added this event to the Club Cobra calendar. Just click on the blue "calendar" button near the top of the page and take a look at September. It should be listed on the 14th. (If I have posted it on the wrong date, someone please email or call me and I'll change it immediately.)
I have also posted a separate event on the calendar for the following weekend (21st).
