I'm not a DSCC member, but a little food for thought(pun intended )....the best BBQ in the Atlanta area is at the Old Hickory House at Northlake Pkwy and I-285. It's about 2 miles east of I-85 on the North side. if you like thick, sweet, smokey sauce and the ONLY good Brunswick stew on the planet, this is your place. If you like Sonnys(the McDonalds of BBQ), it ain't.
Just an opinion, carry on.

Sounds like a plan, Keith---I'm in--you will be driving that new RED machine, right?. I always enjoy the Po Boys event up at Riverstone Parkway (Canton). The last time I was there I had to park in the isle, due to a late arrival. We should get there no later than 4:00PM to get spots together.

You name the meeting place--I'm in NW Atlanta burbs, as is Toy Collector, so anywhere in this area or Perimeter is fine by me.

Let's get the local group together, and take a fleet up to Canton.

Thumbs up

Food, Cobras...I'm there.

Dreamland BBQ in Alpharetta is good...and portions are large! It's on Hwy 9 and could easily be the first leg of a drive up to Canton from the Perimeter if we time it right...or just take lots of detours....

Last time I was in Atlanta I got lost after somebody told me to turn on peach street. Damn, how can anybody get around in that city when every other street name is peach. There is a lesson to be learned here.

Has anybody considered passing a law banning the name Peach as a steet name. You guys should think hard about this. Sorry I won't be making the lunching. It's a little fer.

Chip - Are you saying that can't make it because you have a meeting all day? Or maybe you're saying that we should make the Cobra gathering an all-day meeting.

southernfriedcj - Will you be able to join us?

BigEasy - I added you to the list. I do plan to drive the Cobra (fingers crossed). Yea, you really have to show up early to get a good spot at the Po Boys show. That show is getting huge.

chill - I added you to the list. I'll bring all those notes that I emailed you about.

cobrap51d - Atlanta has 47 streets with the name "Peachtree" in the title, if memory serves. What's even more fun is to tell a visitor to take I-285 until it dead-ends, then turn left.

Keep the input coming, guys.

As an update on my progress... I'm completing the final wiring today. I have to install the radiator hoses today or tomorrow and I plan to crank the car Saturday, if not sooner! I most likely will not make the 9th which is actually fine because (a) I picked that date out of thin air 4 months ago and (b) I don't really have to have it completed until the 19th or 20th anyway, so why rush it? I need to update my sig line...

Chipper, there is a whole seperate thread I started on the Historics. I am tentatively able to do this lunch gig, and definitely the Po boys car show part of it.

Keith,
I hope to make it out for the lunch, sounds like it will be a good time. Keep the updates coming as things get finalized, and good luck with finishing up your car. Looking forward to seeing you in the drivers seat!!

Keith, I would like to atleast meet you guys for lunch(I've gotta deer hunt in the AM), but I just found out today that an associate has set up a meeting in Anderson, SC to look at a 200+ lot undeveloped subdivision, on 9-21. If the meeting does not go ahead as planned, I'll be at the lunch(my daughters are with their "real" dad that weekend, and my wife is going to get her hair done, so I've gotta free pass).

There is a car show down in McDonough tomorrow from 1-4 right off exit 218 of I75. Southern Automotive will be there with four Cobras. Anyone interested?

If it stays around 90 or so tomorrow (for the driver, not the car ), the HAMMER may come back to Henry County for some chaos!!

Count me in for the lunch, I'll be the incredibly handsome redneck in the red F350 DRW truck. Pardon the camo, but I have a date with the whitetail that morning, in McDonough of all places(about 5 minutes from Southern Automotive).

Guys;

My vote for lunch is Dreamland, or something else along Hwy 9---in fact, just north of Dreamland is the Andretti Speed Lab, which has a BIG parking lot, and a Fudruckers hamburger joint, as another option . That puts us close to Rt 140, travel up through Woodstock, and on to Canton. Just a suggestion, I will be at the designated spot with Cobra. Consensus rules.....

A cool, clear fall evening with temps around 65-70 degrees would also be nice.

I don't ask for much.
