southernfried,

You put a chip in that beast yet (F350)?? Curious minds want to know. I assume you are using a Bow (real hunting) due to the time of season?

southernfiredcj - I'll remove the "tentative" from your name.

chill - Not driving yet, but close... so close. What really sucks is that I have to fly to Chicago tomorrow for four days, so that's four more days I can't work on the car.

John - I know where the old fairgrounds are (down in the hole, next to the river, behind Coppermine Hill). We may have to meander over there.

I will update the leading post immediately. Then it's back to the garage!

And I have to be in a meeting all day learning to "be my own best friend"!! (Not really; required continuing ed for my state license, same thing.) Hope to see many of you this weekend at Road AtlantaSAt. Bringing one new Atlanta area Cobra owner along plus one hopeful GT40 future owner. cb

ToyCollector, I haven't put a chip in the F350 yet. I want to purchase a reprogrammer(we've got 3 SD Fords) and do all our trucks. I am concerned about exhaust gas temperature. I haven't done much research, but I saw test results on a website, and all the chips(I think they actually use a hand held reprogrammer now) caused the EGT to exceed recommended limits.
I have some friends that have reprogrammed their F350's, and they report lots of extra torque and an extra 2 to 4 mpg.

As far as the hunting goes, I will be bow hunting on opening day. I am a none discriminatory hunter, though. I'll use a bow, rifle, shotgun, muzzleloader, pistol, and now that they're legal, I'm going to buy a crossbow. My method of choice is bow hunting, though. I usually take a couple deer per year via the stick/string method.
See you on the 21 st.

Jim

Southernfriedcj;

Sounds like you are a hunter---any weapon, any time. I'm not , but have always been interested in bows, and especially cross-bows. What's your recommendation on a decent sport shooting cross-bow, if you have one?

Anyone with your qualifications probably knows the market.

BigEasy, I'm in the crossbow market right now. The season opens tomorrow, and all the retailers are sold out of their lower end starter packages. Crossbows were just made legal for hunting in Georgia this year, so there is not alot of info avalible from my fellow hunters. I'm going to wait until Bass Pro or Cabellas restock their $169 starter packages and buy on of them. Cabellas catalog lists packages(crossbow, bolts[arrows], scope, and quiver) from $169 up to $699. I figure I'll start with a cheap crossbow and if I like it, I'll move up to a better one when I know more about them.
It seems to me, if crossbows are like compound bows, the most bang for the buck is in the middle price range(sounds like SPF, doesn't it). You hit the point of diminishing returns in the $400 dollar range with a compound bow. I know several people who buy the latest and greatest $800 compound bow EVERY year. When it comes to hunting, most guys go crazy. Case in point, my business partner has purchased a new 4 wheeler each year for the past 3 years, and if I took him by a Polaris dealer I guarantee he would by a new Polaris 6x6.
I'm kinda tight with my cash, I've got a used 4 wheeler, a 10 year old bow(that kills deer every year), and I don't buy the usual closet full of camo cloths each year like most guys. Heck, I kill most of my deer in blue jeans(me in jeans, not the deer ).
I'll probably get a Barnett crossbow, because they're the only name I recognize. Cabellas also sells Ten Point Crossbows and Horton Crossbows.
I'll update you when I get a crossbow.

Thumbs up IF I CAN

Keith and Company,

If it's at ALL possible, in anyway whatsoever, I will try to get up with you guys. My dear, dear friend has been there for me for 30 years...I just can't express to you how much I owe him. But I DO want to see you'all as well and will try it all!

To the top!

Fred - Glad to hear that you'll be in town. Hope you can join us while you're up.

I'm gonna try my best to call some of the folks who don't follow the net that much and let them know about the gathering. I ask all of you to do the same if you can. At the moment, the garage is taking up most of my time. I'm making pretty good progress, though. I'm keeping my fingers crossed (which makes it hard to turn the wrenches).

Gotta go!

Keith

Keith,

New to the club and would like to tag along. However, I don't get back in town until 10:30 AM. My son and I will try to catch up with you guys at Fuddruckers around noon.

Tinker, you'll remember the umbrella all right. Looks like it may be needed

Actually, here is some good news from the Hydrological Prediction center,

ACTIVITY SHOULD TEND TO WEAKEN AND BECOME LESS
ORGANIZED ALONG THE ADVANCING FRONTAL BNDRY ON DAY 2 (=Saturday) AS S/WV TROF UNDERGOES GRADUAL SHEARING AS IT LIFTS NEWD OVER STUBBORN ERN U.S./WRN ATLC UPR RIDGE. THIS SHOULD RESULT IN A GRADUAL SLOWING ALONG THE SRN END OF THE FRONT THRU THE GULF COAST REGION.

the forecasters are being pessimistic as usual in the mainline forecasts, but the translation above is it may not be all that bad in north GA.

TC - Gonna keep my fingers crossed on the R-word.

Chad, Hector, Gerry - I added your names to the list and look forward to seeing all of you (dry, hopefully).

Now, if I can just make this alternator to play by the rules... (see my reply to TC's post in the ACT section).

Has anyone heard from Jeff Neely lately? I need to call him. Actually, I need to call several people today. Gota run... the garage is calling me again! Look forward to seeing you guys on Saturday (hopefully I won't be in the Honda this time).

Keith

Looks like today will pretty dry until late afternoon. Tomorrow AM may be wet with the front approaching ATL. Afternoon could be dry with maybe some spotty activity. all depends on how quick front moves and if it dies out.

I am fair to partly cloudy for meeting you guys up in Canton. Can't do the lunch thing. PS: There is a good mexican restaurant at the shopping center with good marguerittas (how do you spell this spyderman?)

What time do you plan on getting to the cruise?

Dave,

Can't speak for everyone else. But I plan on doing the lunch thing, then coming home and picking up the new parts car to be at the cruise for 4PM or so. All WX permitting of course.
