Deep South Cobra Club Updates
Jerry Rowley and I were both looking into some Liability coverage for our club. When I first went to Cypress Gardens to see if they would have our annual event I was told we would have to have $1,000,000 worth of Liability insurance. I then found out that none of the insurance companies have such a policy except K&K Insurance. They have a minimum deposit premium of $1,200.00. The minimum premium is fully earned and not subject to return. This is cost prohibitive for a club that has no dues. The cost was actually $6.54 per member, and as we stand today our first bill would be $2,112.42.
Needless to say we are not covered by insurance.
At this time I also thought it would be nice to bring you an update as to our membership:
AL- 30 FL-157 GA-55 LA- 11 MS-2 NC-20 SC-21 TN-15 UNKNOWN-12
TOTAL- 323
Silver Springs
Why I choose Silver Springs
If I’m going to set things up it has to be closer to home.
No Liability insurance needed.
Almost half of our membership is from Florida.
Without the Liability insurance we cannot have Auto X or any other type of racing event unless you are having it at a track that has provided the insurance.
On January 11–12, 2003 at Silver Springs they are having their 9 annual Ford & Mustang event. Last year they had 900 cars, this year they are shooting for 1,000. They started like us but now National Parts Depot sponsors them. The first 1,000 cars to preregister get 2 FREE weekend passes to Silver Springs.
