The groups are getting a bit full. I'll send out fewer invitations for group 3, and move some from group 1 to group 2 as conditions allow, or eventually (soon ) we'll have to add another group 1 b.
It is damn hot down there and everybody is not going to drive every session anyway, so I think we will be O.K.
Maybe half the people could run clockwise and the other half, no nevermind.

For those that want info on staying at the Hilton Head area, check out:
DC and I are staying with our families (had to add that so JW or Spyderman does not have an opening for any queer jokes) at the Breakers. The total price for the whole week is around $900. Some of the units have been remodeled recently and don't look too bad. They had oceanfront units availabel that sleep 2 adults 2 kids when I booked about two weeks ago.
Also JW, I think Hinds is planning on it based on a live chat today with him. He also offered to help with any logistics.
Rick, good to see you on the boards!!

Hey TC--
(Wasn't that a line from the Wild Bunch?)
Looks like we'll be battling it out with each other at last== I intend to start feeding the hampsters under my hood some serious steroids!
I've been keeping up with the DSCC happenings, just haven't had anything to add. I did treat myself to a new 996 x-50 turbo for my 55th birthday last week---it's VERY quick!
John-- I'm working on the logistics for lodging== I think my bride will even show up if she thinks that she can get some enduro style shopping done while in HH. So much for a relatively inexpensive week!

Ok
I am trying to get my wife to attend this event and prove that at least one woman does find me attractive. She does not like Race tracks (took her to Talledega in August once and cured her of ever wanting to see 150,000 sweaty beer swilling rednecks again), Cobras (she says mine smells like Octane 93 and she thinks that is a bad thing) and occasionally she does not like me like when I spend all weekend with the ***** in the garage (the cobra not the dog...who is a boy dog anyway )
I need you guys to have your better looking halves(spyderman I am afraid of what you claim as your better half) convince my wife that there will be fun events for the people of female persuasion. You know, Shopping, laying on the beach, shopping, eating in fine dining establishments (Hot Dog at the JR. Food Store does not count) did I mention shopping, sightseeing, back massages by young virile men, shopping.
I will personally buy you a dinner at the best restaurant I can afford (see JR. Food example above) if you can persuade my wife to wear a thong in public. She has been going to the tanning bed so she has one of those all over tans but is too shy to show it off.
Jerry Rowley is alive and well but his wife has taken a real dislike to all things Cobra. Everytime Jerry takes it out to play with he breaks something and she has to wright big checks. I think Tom's wife can sympathize.

Ruble -
If you could borrow or rent a RV for the outing, your wife could get inside away from the heat during track time.

Anne came down to Roebling for the last PCA race. She spent a good deal of the time shopping in Hilton Head-- Don't worry about your wife's ability to keep herself amused, worry about covering the bills! This isn't talledega--very low-key lots of shade and I'll be surprised to see even one mullet in the crowd (at least not amongst the Porsche group-don't know about the guys withgthe bow-tie cobras)
Anne is trying to get some time away from her job, but at the very least she will be there for day 2 of the 100.

Mike--
If God had meant for Cobras to have bow-ties, He would have had GM sell them to Shelby when Shelby tried to buy them-- I know that there are those whose opinions differ and I can respect that, sorta.
Look forward to seeing you at Roebling so that we can discuss this in greater depth.

Rick,
Thanks very much for enlightening me on God's ultimate plan. I look forward to hearing more nuggets of wisdom from you in the future. You're on a roll now, so feel free to enlighten me further.
Don't really care to discuss this in greater depth with you at RR, I doubt it would be much of a discussion and I'd rather spend my time talking to people with less limited views, like Spyderman.
Mike
BTW, I don't really give a rat's a$$ what GM and Shelby did or didn't do back in the 60s. I built my car in the 90s, the way I wanted it.

Mike-
You seem a bit defensive--didn't mean to ruffle your feathers! In the past, the ford/chevy banter has been in good fun--this doesn't mean you have to get a haircut before the event.
I still look forward to being enlightened when we meet. After all, I will be out there with a four cylinder 150 hp POS and I don't have any ego problems about it; its supposed to be fun for all, even the horsepower OR esthetically challenged of us. I've even seen guys wedge bowties into Porsches--helps them rotate even quicker!

The best engine for a Cobra replica is whatever engine the owner wants, in my opinion, but Mike , I think you are taking offense at remarks meant to be casual ribbing at best and regardless, this has nothing whatsoever to do with the event.
Everytime somebody posts on this thread I stop what I am doing to see if I need to update the list or respond to a question, etc. and as yet very few of you have e-mailed me the address I need to send out the invitations. It is way too early in the scheme of things to have people not speaking to one and other.
I would not put your wife in an RV, in that Spyderman has girls in his van and it's not cause it's hot. Last year the line went around the concession stand, and boy was TC disappointed when he figured out he had waited in the wrong que
Thanks

Johan--
Thanks! I have been off-line with DSCC for a while and didn't mean to offend Mike or anyone else-- The WW-100 is a great event and I am looking forward to hearing all those big blocks (anything over 3 litres) blast down the straight. You have been an excellent host and I wouldn't want to create contention--except maybe on the track and then only in a gentlemanly non-rubbing sort of way.

I really hate to jump in here right now but I have to. A Cobra with a CHEVY engine? I do think Mike should have bought the BIG BLOCK CHEVY Engine
All though I do like his Webers.
Dan
If you guys keep this up I might have to come up and keep the cool.

If you put one more coat of wax on that Cobra you will have to trade the big block for a Duarmax Diesel.
Mike
Although I think you have a really cool car I just could not bring myself to putting a Chevy Motor into my Cobra but then again that is MY car not YOUR car. If you are happy with a chevy motor then that is cool but some others can appraciate your car but would not put a Chevy into their car.
Rick
I am glad to see that there will be a car with less HP than my little big block 5.0 so I may be able to pass you on the straights after you pass my spinning cobra on the curves.
Come to think of it a 5.0 is a big block in Europe. ??????

Ruble,
What you and others continually fail to understand is that not everyone subscribes to the same false notions of originality when building these cars. If someone chooses to build the perfect replica, I applaud them for it, but I didn't care to go in that direction myself. What I wanted was a hot street machine that didn't look like everything else out there, would be easy and inexpensive to maintain, and durable when thrashed. Oh yeah, and I didn't want to tie up a ton of cash in a car that was intended to be driven hard (never wanted to own a garage queen).
Just for the sake of argument, sbc crate motor with steel crank, 4 bolt main, roller cam and alum heads only cost $2,395 when I bought it in 1990 (all new parts). 1987 F&R Corvette suspension cost only $650 complete!! Do you see where I'm going with this?
BTW, I could afford a 427SO if I want one, I don't.
And please, spare me the lecture about resale, I didn't build it to resell it and make a profit. I also don't kid myself into thinking I really own a Cobra. I know what I own, but I'm not sure that others are as realistic about what they own.
If anyone is truly offended by a non-blue oval-powered non-original Cobra replica, they need to see a shrink....quickly!!
One other thing, I've been meaning to ask you, exactly what year was it that Shelby sold Cobras with chrome 5 spoke Cragar wheels....? And don't Hunter Cobra's utilize Corvette suspension components too...? Shame on you Ruble...!!
See you on Saturday,
Mike

Aumoore-
I only have 2.5 litres--does that mean that you have to spot me a half a lap? I don't know how much your cars weigh, my old Unique FIA weighed about 2350 pounds and had 420 odd horses. My 944 weighs 2780 dry, without my large butt in it and has 150 horses --I'm thinking at least a two lap headstart in a ten lap event--that seems fair doesn't it?
By the way, don't let your wife give my wife a head start shopping, she won't have a chance.

The 17" Craigar's and Corvette suspension only came on a super secret 1965-3/4. What is not widely known is Ford developed a new fangled roller cam 302 but NASCAR banned it because it was beating all the chevy big blocks. They then developed a 427 sideoiler and Chevy again *****ed so NASCAR banned that too.
Mike, I love your car but I am a Ford guy so hence my 302 with 427 badges on the side. I built MY car the way I wanted to and you did the same so we can all agree to disagree but we all have fake cobras.
If I had loved Chrysler I guess I would have a 340 in my Cobra.
I think Corvettes are neet but Ford should have built it so I could love them. Get It? I just love fords.
P.S. Don't kick me out of the DSCC because I have chevy parts in my Replica. The Motor is a Ford does that count?

Chiperb--
Miatas and 944's--now that should be fun! Its still possible to have a good time even if we leave the other four cylinders at
home.
Mike-- So you think I goofed and should have asked for three?? I guess you're probably right, I stand corected and hereby ask for an additional two mile head start! I think I know what would really improve our cars, though--we need bowties--I'm thinking Vega, and not just any Vega mill, a real fire breathing Cos-veg--to hell with the purists! At least Zora would approve.
