Johan-

I am negotiating to purchase another Porsche for my son and may have it in time for the WW so we don't have to share cars--I assume that this will be o.k, since it doesn't add a driver? If o.k. I'll plan to use 861 as his number. I admit it, I hate to share my ride!

Can't wait to see everyone and hear those Cobras roar.

Ed,
HSR runs at Sebring as a support race for the 12 hour enduro. I may actually try it out this year.I've wanted to for the past several years but something always comes up. The Cobrastock idea sounds great ! I plan to put it on my calender as a preferred way to spend that weekend. Last year, I had to miss the Sebring weekend because it was the Father Daughter Dance, and I hope they do not conflict. I was asked by the owner of GT40 MkIV J4, the Sebring winner from 1967, to drive the car in the exhibition class prior to the start of the race. I had to back out at the last minute and was replaced by his , now, son - in - law. If I had driven that car, well , who knows. My father in law drives a raggy old pickup truck. Life is full of tough choices.
Rick,
come on man, give us a little more info..... What kind of Porsche is it ? If it is a 944, I think we have a rather competitive group forming.

Johan-

Its a track prepped 968- not full race, but some suspension mods, rollbar, harnesses, etc. If I get it he would probably run best in group 2, but he will be happy to run wherever you put him. After the WW I'll do the full race treatment to the car and prep it for PCA F stock where 968's have the best power to weight ratio in class-though they are a bit heavy on the handling side. We'll see just how anxious the seller is to deal with a ready buyer.. we may still be sharing a ride come July if he isn't really ready to deal.

It has come to my attention that the use of coolants containing antifreeze will not be allowed at Roebling Road on any day that cars running slicks are going to be on the track. This is going to mean nothing to the Porsche 911 crowd, but for you water cooled guys, you have to drain your cooling system and replace with water, and you can add the redline NASCAR stuff if so inclined. Save your antifreeze if you want and replace it or whatever, but this is something that will be checked. Sorry for the late notice on this.
The schedule above is preliminary. It seems complicated, as do most things when we try to write them down. This is a standard schedule with 20, 30, or 60 minute sessions.
20 minutes is a LONG time on a track.
It will be important to be in your car, on the pre grid, ready to go out 5 minutes before your session starts. The alternative to the above schedule would be 30 minutes on, 1 hour off, all day long.I also can add more run groups if someone feels that there is not a perfectly suited group existing now. A standard HSR event has 9 groups and a driver only gets to go out twice per day, so if anything, this is a LOT of track time per driver.
The way that the passing rules/color tape identification ought to work is:
Do not pass a taped car without a waveby.
Do not wave someone by until you are ready for them to pass.
Do not bunch up , wait for your INDIVIDUAL waveby
Do not go out without the tape ( on or about tag area)
Do not go so fast that you do not see the tape.
Do not run in mixed groups if not comfortable( like all Ford )
Do not get carried away with yourself, this aint no race
ANY suggestions would be appreciated now versus complaints later, or even worse, silent dissatisfaction.

Thanks, Johan--

Great schedule-- this will be FUN.

The anti-freeze ban is an important rule since that stuff is much worse than oil on a hot track,spin-out city! A- catch can or puke/expansion tank will not relieve the driver from running water instead of anti-freeze since a blown hose or other leak will put that soap on the track.

Also-- some of us will bring our torque wrenches--wheels should be torqued before each morning's run at a minimum- for wheels with lug bolts--for knock-offs, check your saftey wire between runs for signs of stretch which would indicate that a wheel is "working".

Rats, darn , crap, phooy.....
Stan Wattles just called and said he could not make the event. Going to Keys for July 4th instead of coming to Roebling. The reason is mostly the noise factor at Roebling. No success in getting the v-10 down below 105db. A let down for sure. I'm sorry he's not coming but we'll have our own cool cars to play with. I'm sort of relieved. I had thought about mounting the mirrors from my Ford Excursion on my car so I would see Stan coming, and now there is at least less of a need for that !

How did you know I was doing that ! The blinds are down and everything ....
I swear Rick, he really was coming. Now He's going to Silver Springs for the 4th.
Hey, guess what I'm doing ? I'm sending out the invitations !
They are pitiful, but there is a map and an entry list. The rest of the info will have to be gathered and updated from this Forum.

Johan
OK let me get this straight. I need to strap a spatula to one of my pipes, drain the new Hi-tech coolant from the radiator and replace with non-staining distilled water, figure out how to cut 2" off my neck so I am under the non-confirming single hoop of flexitube that I call a rollbar, find some wheel bearing grease and squirt in my front bearings, drain the master cylinder and put in good stuff, bolt the battery down with something stronger than the Big Lots bungie cords I am using and scratch a number in my hi-dollar paint job that I had applied by the guy who sleeps with my wife? Hope I am not forgetting anything?

Men will do a lot for free bear, racing and the chance to see some Hotties on the beach.

Wow, it is a long list, isn't it...! Do you have a drive shaft safety loop ? You don't want to get Cobra Elbow ! Sorry about the antifreeze thing, and you say high tech, is it for racing ? If so, perhaps it would be OK. I know you would not want to be identified as the culprit in a massive group spinout.
Having a track event for street cars is not easy to coordinate.
The end result will be that we are better drivers, better able to handle our better handling cars. The net benefit is a safer Cobra driving experience. It is just a little tough to get this all going.
You might be mad now, but this is going to be a lot of fun. You keep mentioning girls, what can we do about that. I 've got a little surprise in that regard.

I was saying this with a little tongue in cheek.

Girls? Did I mention girls? I said Hotties not Girls. Don't you call those hot shells you step on at the beach Hotties?

Johan-

I was bad again--just bought a 944 turbo S to play with so Erik and I can trade off. I won't have time to do a full race setup on it in time for the event, but I will put a harness bar and 5-points in it along with sway bars, racing pads and fluids and a set of hoosiers. The rest will have to wait. I'd like to use #85 or #87if either are available.

I am REALLY looking forward to this!

We got the thumbs down by the track on the drag racing aspect of the event, due to the fact that if there was an incident during that time, it would not be covered by their insurance. Sorry , especially to John Owen, the probable winner.
Also, I can't find any yellow duct tape, so I'm going to have to revise our schedule ,and run group colors, plus make it more simple if possible.
I heard from Gene Felton's Mechanic/friend Woody, and he told me Gene looks forward to the Willis each year more than any other event for some reason, and that he is coming for sure. I'm happy about that and can't wait for you guys to meet Gene.

I'm going to the store to buy Arm restraints for anyone that wants them and does not have them. Speak now or forever hold your pieces. Not sure how much they are but I'm sure it is around $20 or so.

Going to the store?
Walmart has arm restrints?
Hey, a length of rope doesnt count!

I just picked up two sets for Tom and I.
Cost was $20.99 for G-force and $35.00 for Simpson.
