Dan,
I am will be coming up the turnpike from West Palm Beach and pick up I-75 at Wildwood, and then up to Gainesville for Thursday nite stay. I got me one if them "Sunpasses" now. No stopping to pay tolls anymore.
Have Jim contact me direct, (give him my email address). We can always meet at the "Riskay Cafe", you know the place I mean just south of Ocala. No word from Doc, Flanker, and the other So. Fla. dudes. I have no idea what their plans are.

I'll let Jim know, should he bring one of his Stutz's or the Cobra. He knows that there might be rain if the Lopez's attend. He would be nice and dry in the Stutz.

Hey Terry,
Doc & I are in. Just got the okiedokie from the misses and she is letting me go out and play. It is costing me though since she turns the big 50 this year and has told me that the bigger the diamond the more i love her! Well she did get me the BDR for my graduation 2 years early and just surprised my with a new (2002, new 2 me) motorhome to pull the "toy", so i guess she wins again.
Can't wait to get up there and let loose.
Forever Bitten

It's about time to have some fun
Alright Flanker
Good News on all fronts -
We won't say a word about the age of that pretty wife of yours, will we guys. We know how sensitive they can get about age. About the diamond; I've always maitained size doesn't matter, but if big is what counts here, then 2 suggestions; get her an enormus CZ; or better yet buy a small one, get some of those penis enlargement pills that we get as internet junk mail, grind them up into a fine dust and sprinkle over the rock and watch it grow. MAJIC
Some sad news on my front; Carol is not going to be able to make the trip with me this time. Her daughter is flying in early for the holiday and someone needs to be home. We all have our priorities.
I also need some suggestions from someone up Ocala /Gainesville way: I need to drive up to North Carolina after this event and would like to not have to tow the car and trailer behind me this time. Is there any secure place where I might leave this for a couple of days? I was thinking just leaving it at Don Garlits Muesum.

Terry
Randy Hunter's shop is in Ocala just off the interstate and I bet he would let you park the trailer at his shop. He will be at the event and is one of the sponsors.
He is a really nice guy and will take care of you

Hi there,
Ed, has there been any progress with allowing passengers in a car at the gainsville track event? We will be bringing up the car that Tony used to win the Run n Gun this year and I know we have a few Backdraft Customers who would really like a ride in it.
We are hoping to come up on thursday afternoon, if we can get everything cleared out of the shop. Let me know if there is anything we can help with.
Regards Reg

Terry,
If no other more convenient options work out I've got room at my place where you could park your trailer for a few days. It's about 15 miles off I-75 in Gainesville.

Guys,
I want to see lots of pictures, and a detailed write up of this event. From the looks of everything I have seen so far, this is going to be one hell of an event. I'm just sorry the timing was off (have family members wedding today) and I could not be there personally to see things first hand............Here is wishing you all the best...............
Sincerely,
Bill S & Family

This weekends Reptile Roundup was awesome. I have never seen so many snakes in one place. Hats off to Ed, Ruble and the rest of the gang for a superior job. The weather was perfect, the track was fast, and as always the people were great. The sponsors deserve the best compliment possible, our business. There were so many raffle items I thought we would never get done. I can't wait for next year.

Congratulations on a fantastic event, Ed and all the DSCC crew. From everything I've heard so far. it was a total success for folks of every interest: racers, shiners, gawkers, buyers, sellers, and everyone in between. Way to go, you worked hard and it paid off! Now, lemme go find that info on the Feb. and March track events...

Here is a quick report
We had an unofficial count of 40 drivers at the Gainesville Test and Tune track day. There were several cars with two drivers and we had two 2003 Cobra Mustangs. Engineer Ed was the quickest of the mere mortals but we all just stood with our jaws on the ground as Reg Dodd in his Race Car...err...Backdraft Cobra put on an awesome display of speed along with Tony Martin from South Africa. Dennis Olthoff from Superformance while a tick slower in his more conventional Street legal Cobra put on a driving display worthy of a Joey Chitwood show. Just Imagine a Cobra with super wide tires "Dirt Tracking" on a flat paved 24 foot wide road course. He was sideways thru 270degree turns with the throttle blipping, arms swinging, brakes smoking and the crowd bowing to this driving show. You just had to be there and if you missed it you should be ashamed.
After the hard day at the track the participants and pit crews caravan to Ocala and cleaned up at the hotel and several of us went to Chili's for beer and grub and told tall tales of our professional driving skills. Some of the less family oriented members closed down Hooters restaurant across the street from the Hampton.
Early on Saturday another caravan to Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing for a Car show and vendor Display. The vendors/Sponsors were: Ink Spot Design for T-shirts, Whitby Motorcars, Factory Five Racing, Shamrock Cobras, Olthoff Superformance, Backdraft and Hunter's Kit Cars. We have to give thanks to Finish Line, Hunters Kit Cars and Backdraft for providing Door prizes. Special thanks should be given to Don Garlits for providing his wonderful facility for our use and I hope everybody got to enjoy his Museum of amazing cars. Big Daddy himself sat at the Deep South Cobra Clubs table and provided free autographed pictures of himself and his cars. It was an honor to sit next to one of my all time favorite drivers and watch grown men go speechless when trying to think of something to have him say on his autograph. There were several other vendors selling Cobra shirts and taking awesome pictures of peoples Cobras and putting them on large poster prints for a reasonable fee.
At 2:00 we raffled what seamed like an endless supply of Cobra parts, wall hangings, accessories and outdated Club memorabilia. One lucky winner who had purchased $30 worth of raffle tickets won what seamed like hundreds of dollars worth of Cobra merchandise. Another winner of a Cobra Nose wall hanging was generous and gave his big prize to a young boy making his day. Maybe his wife did not want it hung in the living room?
At 3:00 we cleaned Garlits grounds up and started our poker run on a very scenic route thru the countryside surrounding the Ocala Area. We visited the airport, went to several small parks, passed the world famous Cafe Risque(no it was not an official stop), rumbled thru historic Micanopy, Florida and ended up at Hightowers restaurant for the dinner buffet. After Dinner several of us drove thru the brisk night air back to the Garlits Museum to retrieve our tow vehicles and make a few needed repairs. We then went back to the Hampton for hours of telling tall tales while having a few adult beverages.
Early Sunday we sat at the breakfast buffet at the hotel and said our good-byes as we all made our way back home with smiles on our faces from all the fun and new friends we made.

I'm back in Fla.
Made it up to North Carolina Sunday night, trailer and Dennis' car in tow. Man, I was so nervous driving the mountain roads with HIS car in the trailer. Luckily, very little traffic on 107 into Cashiers, but those switch backs can be a little hairy at night when you don't know the roads.
John Phillips, Toy Collector, and everyone else who missed this Reptile Roundup - Shame on You!
WE had a blast. Eng. Ed and his group did an outstanding job. This event has all the makings of being a take off of a DVSF in Fla.
We even talked about putting a limit on the cars for next year, so you better start making plans now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Report on NC real estate search;
I have an offer to purchase 2 acres in Cashiers on Lake Laurel on the table as I write, which has been countered and I just recountered when I returned home, could be agreed on as soon as tomorrow
Am I hearing a Cobra gathering in Cashiers?
Imagine driving the mountain roads up there for a poker run!
I will keep you posted.

MY COUNTER OFFER ON THE CASHIERS PROPERTY WAS ACCEPTED FRIDAY (11/21) MORNING.
MAN, AM I EXCITED!
CHUCK, YES WE WILL HAVE TO GET TOGETHER. I KNOW YOUR AREA, WE DROVE THRU THERE ON OUR WAY HOME FROM VIR THIS SPRING. THE LAKE WE ARE BUYING THE PROPERTY ON IS ALITTLE SMALLER THAN YOURS, BUT LIKE I TELL CAROL, SIZE ISN'T EVERYTHING
