Default Reptile Roundup II

Reptile Roundup II

November 14th-16th, 2003

Central Florida and surrounding area.
Hotel info at bottom of thread.
Florida's largest Cobra Gathering.

Friday November 14th:
Track day / Drivers training at Gainesville raceway.
Come see what all the hype is about. Here is your chance to visit the notorious track that has claimed so many Cobra transmissions, engines, brakes and given drivers fits! Not to worry, we are taking it east this time.
This track date will be for drivers training and instruction only.
Safety requirements are here: http://www.jerryscobras.net/Safety_L...fety_list.html
I would really like to see some new faces at the track. We are limiting this event to 40 drivers so fet your deposits in soon. If don’t normally “race” your car, this is an excellent opportunity to drive and learn how your car reacts at semi-accelerated speeds. We’ve got a long weekend of activities so we will drive appropriately. It will be a little faster than an auto-X but slower than we normally run at this track. I want to give our non-racing crowd a chance to experience the track at Gainesville we brag so much about.
We will be conducting Tech inspection and drivers meeting at the track Friday morning at 8:00. Gates open at 7:00.

Saturday November 15th:
Huge car show at Big Daddy Don Garlits museum. I-75, exit 341
Cobra convoy from Hotel to the museum in Ocala.
Meet and greet the legend, Big Daddy.
Discounted admission to the museum is $10.00, $8.00 for seniors
Car show, vendor demonstrations, Driving tips seminar, Suspension seminar, wax and polishing seminar give throuout the day. Cobra vendors present will be Hunter Cobra’s, Factory Five and Backdraft racing, Shamrock Cobra, Whitby Motorcars and hopefully Everett Morrison. I’m working on getting Everett Morrison to display their new Gen IV Cobra at this event.
Items from replica manufacturers, parts manufacturers and vendors will be raffled.
T-shirts and other items will be for sale.
Car show trophies awarded, voting during the day.
Donations benefiting the DSCC and Team Jenny (Cystic Fibrosis Foundation).
Please e-mail me if you would like to have a mobile dyno again this year.
I need at least 20 cars and deposits. $50.00 for two pulls. $25.00 deposit.

Poker run thru the Ocala National Forest to take place in the afternoon. Admission is $5.00 per poker hand.
After the poker run we will stop at a local restaurant for dinner.
After hours party at a hotel pool in Ocala. Drinks, Beer, jokes and general camaraderie.

Sunday November 16th:
After a long night of fun we will say our goodbyes after breakfast.
If for some reason mother nature decides to disturb our activities they will be conducted on Sunday morning.
I know many of you have to travel to get home and I am leaving Sunday for traveling.
Have a safe trip home and we look forward to seeing you at the next DSCC event.

I would prefer you send a check to the DSCC for advanced purchase of T-shirts and museum admission.
This helps our generous T-shirt makers purchase the supplies they need.
Mike and Melissa did an awesome job last year on our shirts and agreed to sign in for another Reptile Roundup.
Advance purchases would greatly help them out. T-shirts are $15.00 each. Please note size when ordering.

The hotel I have chosen is the Hampton Inn in Ocala.
3434 SW College Road
Ocala Fl 34474
Half way between both locations.
This eliminates us from changing hotels during the weekend.

For reservations please call (352) 854-3200
Please tell them you want the DSCC rate ($69.00 per night)
Normally $109.00 per night.
I have reserved 20 King rooms and 20 doubles.
Suites are available for $109.00 per night.
I have requested ground floor near pool if available.
Please make your reservations before October 28th to get discount rate.
After the 28th, I cannot guarantee the lower rate.

Deposit for the track is $50.00
Balance of track cost depends on the number of participants.
Anywhere from $20-40.00

Please send your deposit checks (made out to DSCC) for track, museum and T-shirt to DSCC
3668 Misty Woods Circle
Pace, FL 32571

T-shirt: $15.00
Museum: $10.00
Track: $50.00 deposit

I look forward to seeing you at this event.
It WILL be awesome.

Ed
How are we going to run 40 or so Cobras on the Gainesville track? Or a better question how are we going to keep you and Jim Pomroy from exceeding what I percieve as a speed limit?

Default How about 3 at a Time

If we get a big turn out I think we could safely run 3 at a time. Of course still no Passing. When we run SPF events at Lowes Motor Speedway infield course (about the same lenght as Gainesville) we run groups of 6 to12 with no problem. We try and run rookies with rookies, etc, etc. If we run 3 at a time we could handle 50% more cars with everyone still getting the same amount of track time as before.

Thumbs up Way to Go Ed

THE MORE THE MERRIER
I agree with Jerry Miller, I think we can run 3 at a time at the Gainesville track. And if we divide into 4 groups of driving ability, we'll all get plenty of runs in. Remember last time with all the breakage, that in itself opened up the oportunity for more laps for those still running. With the idea for driver training and slower speeds I think alot of "newcomers" will be interested in participating in this type of track event. And, breakage shouldn't be as much of a problem. We can even do it in the rain (God Forbid).
I say lets try the 40 car limit.

Talking

Sure pick the weekend that I'll be in Vegas Nov. 14-21,2003. I guess I won't be needing the Don Garlits museum senior discount tickets. I've aready seen the museum (thank you) which I'm glad I finally stopped at after passing it up so many many times on my trips south into Florida and home, great museum. Have a great time.

I hope to be there with you guys. I will have to confirm a little later, as I presently have a conflict. I may have the new Coupe to throw around the track. Maybe even a Noble M2.

I'll be there.
I've got to get down that way to see some family and that sounds like a good excuse to me. Just do me a favor and plan it for a dry weekend.

Roebling Road in two weeks, North Carolina in September(Labor Day), Gainesville in October and then RRII on November.
That's my tentative schedule so hopefully I dont have a conflict with the Keys tour.

I cant believe it's time to start planning the RR again. This year has gone by fast.
I've had a meeting with Mother nature and she appologized for last year. She heard about all the snakes that were converging on Lutz and she was trying to protect the civilians.
She didn't get the word that were were a car club.
Wont happen again, she promises!

See you guys soon,
Ed

Oh, you guys have got sun down there too?
I thought it was just HOT HOT HOT.

Just keep in mind that Fantasy fest is Oct 17th-26th and we will have a hard time finding a hotel during those two weekends.
When is the Bay Bottom Crawl?

Put me down as being very available for Oct 11th.
Anyweeknds after that will be prepping for this here Roundup and some racing on the 18th.

Cheers,
Ed

Angry Fantasy Fest

When I sent you guys a list of preliminary dates, they were the only ones I had open. And, as I am the designated "Party Planner" (thanks Doc) I picked the ones that suit my schedule
As to Fantasy Fest,
Remember, I have friends in "High Places."
If push comes to shove you guys can always double up with some of the "party participants" I think maybe that pairing up is a job I'll leave for Manny But what will you do with your wives? Maybe they can get with Rosie O'Donell or Ellen Degeneris. I hope Richard Simons can make it too, the biggies just Love Him
Anyhow who would want to mess with 20 or so "hissing" Cobras?

See what you get when you come up with a great idea Terry!!!
Who knows maybe this is the start of the next biggest event in Cobra history. Maybe even bigger than the DVSF III.(if we're lucky)

The Reptile Roundup is open to any Cobra, Tiger, GT40, Mustang Cobra, Shelby or Cobra powered vehicle.
The DSCC promotes comraderie amongs people having the same passion for cars and Shelby vehicles.
There is no cost to attend the car show however the admission into the museum is $10.00.
We do humbly ask for donations to the DSCC and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation; Hence the reason for hosting these events, holding raffles and conducting the poker runs.

We hope to see you there and showing your car, whatever it might be.

Ed, I'm going to make it to the RR this time, regardless of the weather....

I'm not planning on running my car at G'ville that weekend, but I'll volunteer to help work the corners, the timer, or whatever you need me to do.

Hi Armando,
How are you doing, buddy? How're Manny and Joanna? I miss you guys, do I have to wait until the RR II to have some laughs?

What exactly does that mean, "I'm planning on running at G'ville but lightly"......you're only going to tap the brakes a few times?

If I see you doggin' it around that track, I'm gonna black flag you!!!

Mike

What I'd like to do is also have some instructor laps for once.
Now, I'm really no instructor, but I have learned a bit more at Sebring and will learn more at Roebling Road next week.
I can pass any info on to the new guys if they want it.

During the first morning session the more experienced drivers can ride along and "coach" some of the novices on technique, running a line, brake usage, etc...
Or we can let the novices run the morning and THEN get some coaching during a lunch run group.
If they "learn" something, their afternoon times should be much improved.
Just an idea.

Doc, I dont want to see you guys ***** footing around the track.
I get enough of that driving to work everyday....

I'm glad you guys are coming.

Ed i was planning on comming in October but just found out my cousin is getting married on the 18th and i am in the party. So i will be comming out for the roundup. Doc says he will be going lightly, i think at his advancing age he has forgoten where the gas pedal is. Doc if ya got the power use it. Also Doc i hope you got a better helmet, that orange one is pitiful. LOL

I am all for the dyno, count me in.

sorry i couldn't make it last time but i think i got the bugs worked out of the car and am ready to tear it up again. The idea of an instructor run is a good one. Ed even if you aren't one, your a good driver and everyone can learn something new just from someone else's view. look forward to any all advice on helping me improve my driving and enjoyment of my baby.

Forever Bitten
