Bruce, you will probably have to have the car appraised to acertain the value,to base the tax on. If I am not mistaken, the tax people will set you up with their appraiser. Welcome;chuck smith

Personal property tax here is not a big problem. If you tell them that your car is worth say $2,500.00, they will likely tax you accordingly. They won't want to see your car and they won't need any proof. It will help if your car is registered as a 65 or so, but they are usually pretty reasonable if you explain that your car is "homebuilt" or a kit. My Unique 289-FIA was taxed as a 64 ford--paid about $25.0o0 per year--much less than my current 2002 Porsche twin turbo!

Good luck!

Rick

Bruce,

My car came from florida (registered as 65 cobra), and all
I did was go to county tax assessor and transfer title to SC.
I paid $ 18.+\- total. yep, thats eighteen dollars. Then I went
to SC dept of transportation, and got vanity tag for $30., plus regular charge of about $20. Painless....

It will all depend on how you have it registered now.

Good luck
