Who's in charge??????
Ed, please appoint someone to take the reins in your abscence.
I am sure you have probably thought about this and already have someone in mind, but as one of the "Seniors (in age)." I just thought I would mention it now.
We should have someone who knows who to see, and when. Also someone who is familiar with how we pay the track, and how payment is made; seeing as how Ruble won't be there either. Someone to collect the money and keep track of who owes what. Maybe to that regard - all money for this track event should be in Ruble's hands by Monday May17th. Then Rubble can cut a check and get it to whoever you have put in charge.
I say this in all seriousness. I think I can speak for all of us in saying: "We don't want to make any mistakes that could ruin our relationship with the track, or harm the good name of the DSCC"
I will offer my trailer and awning for the timing station and track base of operation, and also help in way to organize and run this venture. I do not consider myself experienced enough in the management of an event like this to take the resposibilty for being in charge; however, Tom Jones, Chester, Robert, Bob Gassie, and Jim Pomroy come to mind as potentional leaders, and I am sure there are others whose names don't come to mind right now.
I think we would also like to have the timing equipment, and Debbie seems to have a handle on that, we can all pitch in for the setup. Radios, flags, and other equipment we use on "race day" should also be on hand if possible.
I hope my thoughts and concerns do not offend anyone, but I feel that they are serious enough to express here on this forum for all to see and comment on.
Guys, lets make this an event that we all can be proud of!
Then maybe we can say: "ED, YOU'RE FIRED!"
Really - just joking Ed. You have done a superior job in organizing these events and I just don't want any of us to be the ones to screw things up in your absence!!!!

Ruble,
You missed my point.
The suggestion was anyone BUT me.
I will work my butt off (as I have plenty to lose) to help.
I am NOT the one to run this!!!!!!
I believe that this is a decision that Ed and you need to make.

Terry,
Relax pops. I'm there!
I may or may not have my car present to kick some butt, but I'll be there to handle the event.
Maybe I could coax someone to let me try their car out for a few laps! Y'know, set the standard.. give you all a time to beat, etc...
I wont miss a Gainesville event unless I'm in traction....
Tom is being a real good sport and replacing my head gaskets while my butt is stuck behind a desk in the GE laboratory.
FFR1997K should be together in time, but lets see how it progresses.
Thanks for offering to replace me, but you wont be that lucky.
No one is taking my title without earning it the hard way.
Ed

COOL!
I for some reason thought Rene`was going to keep you in Jamacia drinking those Red Stripes, and you were going to miss all the fun.
Hell, those NASCAR guys could have those head gaskets done in 1/2 hour max. Stop making excuses, just because the competion is getting tuff.
Getting ready for Sebring down this way.

One reason for not leaving Jamaica is the naked women!
As I understand it, Playboy's "Night Calls" hosts are supposed to be there in the near future!
As Richie Cunningham once said "Yowza, Yowza, Yowza!
Terry, lets be honest...
Would I miss an opportunity to kick your butt on the track?
Not only yours, but Bob Gassies as well...?
Not likely. The King will be there to defend his crown.
Stopped by Tom's house tonight and did some more work on FFR1997K.
Aside from needing to re-adjust the rockers and re-torque the bolts, we are almost ready to get back on the road!
You guys are in deep @#$%
You'd better pay real good attention to the instructors at Sebring.
I dont want any excuses on May 22nd.
Cheers,
Ed

Ed?
Hey Ed,
Please refer to the "24 heurs du Willis" thread.
And don't forget the Viagra for your trip to Jamacia, not for Rene` but for all those little bunnies (if that's what you are dreaming about) - probably left over from the seventies! That's when the place rocked! But you know the Jamacian economy and job status - I can see it now, some 60 something old bunny trying to shake you down.
Stick with the Red Stripes!

Ruble,
My wife assures me she sent a check in last week. Let me know if you don't receive it this week.
Dave, normally there are around 20 including 1 or 2 non-replica cars like my '03. Bob Gassie and I normally try to take that Friday off to get things together. We try to head out of town by 3pm to get there in enough time to grab dinner, then head over for the driver meeting at 9pm at the hotel. I am not going to have the replica ready for the 22nd and will be taking my '03. With that said, if you'd like we can trailer yours up using my truck and trailer. I can't pull the '03 with the truck/trailer setup I have. We've pulled Bob's cobra with it and it does fine. After all day in the sun you might be glad you did. Let me know, it's no problem at all.

He's Back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey MOON gazer, aka Eng. Ed;
Have you got the car back together, and ready to take on the boys for a little "good ol' Gainesville a$$ whipping?"
Rumor has it that a few of the boys have some "new tricks" up their sleeves. I know for a fact that Chester has learned about "driving lines."
I'm still waiting to see if my Cobra will be ready for this event - need to call today to check on the progress. Lost oil pressure at Sebring, a long story but fortunately, no serious damage. Hell, if it's not ready, I'll bring the Ferrari out of retirement just so I can run. The name starts with an "F" sorta like "Ford" - should be close enough , that way I can at least save the slicks for the "24 heurs du Willis"
See ya Friday,
TL

Ed, are you bringing the car? Bob Gassie is expecting the shipment of flux capacitors to arrive this week... in time for installation and festivities on Sat. I think he said something about a "New Sheriff in town" or something along those lines. hehehehe...

I dont think my car will be ready for this weekend.
I heard Tom was working on getting her back together but I have not spoken to him in over a week.
I may not be able to leave work early on Friday.
I've got a new recruit possible arriving this week and I may get held up with training.
I've also got the issue with my contractor and him making progress at the house.
Concrete being delivered on Thursday afternoon so we will se how things go.
Trying to work out the schedule, but not to worry.
I have very competent people who can handle things without me.
Tom has ensured me that I can run a few laps in his car.
This way I can establish the "benchmark" and TOD for this event.
Tom now supposeldly has 13:1 compression... Oh man!
Good luck trying to catch me boys!
Jamaica was awesome.
Cant say enough great things about Hedonism!
Ed
