I'd love to join the HSR but I'm not sure what good it will do me.
What does membership give me other than the opportunity to drive in the HSR races?

I'm still among the "working stiff" crowd and my vacation days are limited.
I know, that sucks but I have to face reality.
Travelling out of state to attend races doesn't occur all too often in my driving career these days.

Anyone know how to convince GE to pay me more and give me more vacation days?

Ed

Chip

Most of the guys I know use "Hotlap Timer" available from Longacre Racing or a number of sources. I will have my transmitter there and I'm sure that there will be others. It's easy and inexpensive to rig one in your car and can be attached with zip ties so that you can remove it when not in use.

Wow, more races that I thought here in the SE.
I sincerely appreciate your offer.

I went to the HSR site today and looked around.
Are you sure a hack like me qualifies?
Seems like I am lacking in some key areas.
Whats the catch?

PS, Anyone want to sponsor a Blue/White cobra driver with an outstanding record at Gainesville?
Did I mention I'll need another full set of tires after July 1st!

Cheers,
Ed

Johan

I am interested in HRS. I have a little less experience at Gainsville than Ed does. Is there any opportunity I could get qualified -group 1 would be OK.

Daisy is still in Switzerland but will return 4-25, lets us know what the plans are for food prep

Thanks

Tom Jones

Tom, HRS stands for Hair Replacement Systems...
HSR is Historic Sportscar Racing. We'll get you signed up for HSR at the Willis. Re: the food, yes I need your help again this year. Thanks in advance.

ED, YOUR WORDS NOT MINE

HSR seems like something I might be interresed in if some of you guys want to do it. I don't want to be the only Cobra out there. Anyhow guys, you know the saying "misery loves company," and if Ed is willing, then maybe we should too.
Moroso is only 1/2 hour away from me (did someone say PARTY), Sebring 1 1/2 hrs., Daytona about 4 hours. This sounds like a BLAST.
At least I would get a chance to stretch the legs on that alum 427 under my hood on some tracks with some length on the straights. Gainesvile is great for working on skills, don't get me wrong.
I would love to just kick Ed's a$$ sometime, and the sooner the better.
Johan, maybe you can convince us at Roebling road.

Maybe they even have a Hacker Class!

Gentlemen and Spydee-

To those who are going to the Mitty, have a blast. I'm sorry that I can't be there, but I made a committment to take my son to a DE at Roebling that weekend.

I just returned from the RennReunion II races at Datona-- what a beast of a track. There were 139 cars in my heat!!! 36 cars in my class and believe it or not, I placed third (have the medal to prove it). Neat pictures of me going three wide on the high bank. My son says that if I lost some weight I could probably have gone four wide. Really a great weekend and I wish that Mike and Johan had been there to compete. Even my little four banger saw 159 going across the start/finish line.

See you all at Roebling, bring tires.

Rick

Remember to bring plenty of rubber for a three day event. No kidding, 1 set of tires will not last three days at Roebling.

Thumbs up

Johan,
As best I know, all the DSCC guys like "real blondes" too.
Are these the tire changers?

Johan

That does not look like your wife(S?)

As for tires I will run my new Goodyears untill I pass Ed a few times and then if they are worn out I will put the Kumho everlasts on and give Ed a fighting chance. If I can wear them out I will be doing good. I have about 10 events at Gainesville and last years event at Roebling and they still look new. They are not too sticky.

Johan Quote: "Remember to bring plenty of rubber for a three day event. No kidding, 1 set of tires will not last three days at Roebling."

A serious question for a newbie.
Is there going to be someone to mount and balance tires at the track, or a place close by that we can mount another set of tires; or do we need to bring them already mounted on a spare set of wheels? I have my street tires on one set, and slicks on another set of wheels. Just want to know if I should take the street tires off and mount another set of slicks on that set of wheels. Only problem with that senerio is that I lose a set of street or wet tires in the process. Just trying to be a good "boyscout;" you remember their motto don't you?

Just bring the tires and get the mounting done in the greater Pooler metropolis. Keep an eye on tires for cords, blistering, etc. and run the event like a marathon. No reason to have to go out every session, and Monday is going to be a light day with few cars. Don't wreck, break, run out of tires etc. the first day. Don't wreck or break period. run street tires first, then older race tires, then switch to newer race tires, but do not run on any "junk" tires. Must at least be "Z" rated to run.

Having not been to Roebling before I have a question about getting to and from the pits. If I need to leave during the day to have a new set of tires mounted, will it be easy to get out and back in?

Question

Johan,
Greater Pooler Metropolis? One gas station, one fire station, and three churches do not make a metropolis. I didn't even see a resturant when I was there last fall to see Rick play with the Porsche guys.

But now you brought up an interesting point - Ruble and I are both running GoodYear Stock Car Special racing slicks, and they ain't got no stinking "Z" rating. I am assuming if they are good enough for the NASCAR boys, they should be good enough for this event. Please verify, as I am about to order another set.

Z rating only applys to street tires. Stock car tires should be fine, but what about your front tires ? Getting in and out is not too much of a problem, but getting in or out requires waiting for the current session to end.

Ok, I've got it figured out now, I just will need One of the Blondes to help me with the tires. I'll just mount 2 sets of slicks (all 4 corners) and hope it doesn't rain.
Thanks for the input - now, no more curves unless they have to do with anatomy class.

I just got back from the Porsche Club meeting and I believe we might get a few more of them this year. Be forwarned, they are very nice folks, but totally ruthless on the track. Those little German cars do fly.
We're getting close enough to start an entry list.......
Dave Crace #83 Porsche 911
Mike Geng # 40 Pontiac Gran prix ( Nascar)
JW # 94 Ford Taurus (Nascar)
Gene Felton #8 Jr car
Daisy Jones (any number she wants)

and about 50 more that need to try for a number....
