Does anyone have extra space to take a car to/from this years 2004 "Wilis" from Atlanta? Let me know-can trailer only one. Can share expenses.

OR would anyone be interested in sharing a two car enclosed trailer to/fm? Will check into availibility.

Let me hear from you-2004 "Willis"will be here before e knw it. Will be the "best one ever"!

Johan-

Adam and I can run in the fast /Porsche group. We will probably have 3 cars since I think the guy is accepting my offer on the Supercup--

Some say that neck collars actually cause more injuries than they prevent since they create a fulcrum that actually causes spinal injuries on impact! I won't wear one, but HANS device is in my future.

G-Force has a dedicated sytem for their helmets:

Their hemets (most) have fittings built in on tne back of the helmet for a horizontal "line" to be screwed into the back of the helmet. The line is passed through a "loop" which is attached to a device that is held in place under the shoulder harnesses. This "system" looks good. It is reasonable at $250. (Not for the materials but for the disign concept, as is always the case). Might be something to look into if shopping for a new helmet.

Also, a 5 point 6 pint harness system is a saftey MUST. The "submarine" belt hold everything together and keeps the (YOUR!) body from submarining under the bthe lap and shoulder harnesses. I see lots of 5-6 point sustems WITHOUT the sub belt being used.

Belts should be as short a run as possible: the stretch upon impact to dissapate energy but if they are too long, they streech enough to contact the interior: wheel/dash etc. And shoulder hareness shoud not be too sharpof an angle (above/below the shoulder): the latter causes compression fractures of the spine.

Finally belts and hemutsneed to be discarded after an impact, and belts replace every 2 years (UV rays deterioate the fibers).

"Speed does not kill-the sudden de-acceleration does!

(taken from an article on saftery by a trauma physician-full report can be emailed to you on request).

Johan,
I have the suit Thanks to "My Cheerleader."
I am taking your responce to say the neck collar IS NOT mandatory.
If it is, a bunch of us need to get them.
I hate to be a pest - but best to be prepared.

Everyone....I plan to invite Discovery motorsports to the event as a vendor, but he is actually a friend and a really nice guy. He sells all kind of stuff, from ratchet straps to gloves to suits to stopwatches, to floorjacks etc etc. I'll keep you posted and if he can come, it will make this a lot easier on all by being able to just show up and get the little things that may have been forgotten.
The neck collar is not at all mandatory. I have a couple in my gear bag if someone needs one at the track. If that person sweats on it, I will sell it to them cheap. I wear a HANS, and it makes me go faster.
Be sure to get a fresh alignment on the car before coming to the track. Maybe get some advice from the manufacturer or someone familiar with a good track setup. You do not want to be squirrely on the straights.
This is fun instead of scary due to adequate preparation. Racing has slight tolerance at best for incapacity or procrastination.
Chip, this is not ClubMiata.....Sell it and spend the money on tires to sell to the guys that wear 'em out ! You'll make a fortune.
Chip, and eveyone, your car (Daytona,Cobra, or otherwise) must be properly track prepared. That means a roll bar, fire extinguisher, metal battery hold down, no antifreeze, catch cans ,good brakes, wheel bearings, proper tires, race seat belts, etc etc. and under 104db sound limit imposed by the track.
Terry, glad you got a suit. Last year we had no problems with the noise, no crazy driving, nothing but fun. Let's do it again.

Dicovery/Ron is great: Trackside and mail order prices are the same: no gouging! And he is a road racer and aircraft mechanic as well!

Johan: The Miata and Daytona are interim cars! The GT40 was supposed to be finished: LAST YEAR! Now shootig for this year but it does not look well for the 40 to debut this year!

Daytona has done Panos Road Atlanta lapping: Its ready!

Johan,

I want to again thank you for hosting an event like this. It was a highlight of my last year not withstanding the fine oceanside accomodations I had . The hotel room was so bad all I wanted to do was be on the balcony looking at the beach. Never new a bunkbed for kids could fit in a closet. A few comments and opinions as I am never shy.

Since most everyone on this thread is into hi-po driving, do some reading on HANS devices and you will learn that even a 30MPH impact can even cause serious harm to your neck/skull/spine. The www.hansdevice.com website has some great documentation with research by Dr. Terry Trammel if you dig into the footnotes of it (if you ever watched SpeedTV's "All the King's Men" you know he is up there with Dr. Sid Watkins in racing trauma study and operations). The HANS people had GM, Ford, and Mercedes co-pay for the research. The big boys thought it that worthwhile.

Roebling loves to eat tires and if your car has weak link in cooling, oiling, etc. it will be exposed here on even a cool day.

Chip, do they only sell 5 point 6 pint harnesses in England? Sell that WebTV keyboard that would make you flunk a spelling test, will yah, and put it towards good tires.

Must be "hammerhead " fingers then Chip.

TC, thank you for your kind words. I'm glad you can make it again this year. Glad you , Spydee, and DC have decided to share a room. Spydee says he is boning up on cultural stuff so you have somthing to talk about (pillow talk ?).
I'm sorry to say that TC is not kidding about his accomodations last year. "hide-A-Family" Hotel. It is a closet with fold out beds. There was such a sag in the mattress, that fleas collected in the low spot, not able to climb out, or perhaps they were stuck to the urine stains.

The advantages of WebTV:

1 Remote keyboard so that I can opeate from an easy chair withmy favorite beverage beside me

2. Hooked up to a big screen TV to view posible car/boat deals from my easy chair (with beverage....)so that the wife/boss and view and approve (h wored many times, long after sh said I didi not need any more of either)

3. Bugs TC: Priceless!!!!

And the above is important now that I have accepted a job with three days on call and FOUR DAYS OFF (Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon) every week, for the same $$$$!

Now, how do I plug in this damn new fancy laptop......

Yes it is amazing what a couple of thousand dollars will do to upgrade your accomadations eh TC? It was good of you to have volunteered to let Sydee stay in your wing of the estate. We should chip in and get him a dinner at the Crab House the day before the races. Looking forward to another great 24 hours of racin!

Thanks to Johan for putting this on again. If this keeps getting bigger, we will have to get speed vision to cover it.

Johan,

99 is my number.

Is the field for the cup cars full. I met someone last week that has a 24 Dupont speedway car and a craftsman truck. He said he was at Roebling a few months ago with the truck.

I'll post the list of Cobra guys and you let me know if you need credentials for anyone.
All of the guys coming from my group has been to numerous Gainesville events and have good track experience.

PLEASE PLEASE get me the info for lunch and Hooters.
I have already notified the guys that we would at a minimum pick up lunch on a day you determine.

We cant wait. Thank you in advance for inviting the members of the DSCC.

The only thing left to do is schedule the cookout. What night and where (track or beach ?). Any suggestions or comments are welcome. Lots of us are staying at the beach. Ed, no reason to call Hooter's until we have a head count, but I think we should all spend as much time at Hooters to see what we will be up against.

We are running Monday (possibly a light schedule-having a hard time rounding up corner workers without paying overtime due to SCCA races)
Tuesday full schedule
Wednesday Full schedule
