Will your new WRX be at the Willis? Very cool!

My FAVORITE car of all at the present:

bang-for-the-buck and giant killer.

My ideal would be a stipped/guttened/lightened new WRX with a few tweeks: headers, upgrade computer chip.

Congrats TC: great choice! cb

Johan

A few questions for me and my fellow Cobra mates and wives:

1. The out of towners will get to the track and drop off trailers and Cobras on Sunday. Is the track going to be open and is ther any other clubs going to be there? Sunday there may or may not e any activities on HIlton Head? I think I remember something about Rick bringing a canoe for 50 guests? We Cobra Guys may be arriving late so we may jsut stay in Pooler and drink Beer bootleged from Florida. What are the details on any Hilton Head activities?

2. Monday morning there may be a few guys running laps but I think I remember Johan may be working on his tan? If my wife comes I do not plan on any track time or watching on monday. What time are yo expecting guests for your Birthday bash monday evening?

3. Tuesday is track activity all day then we are visiting some swanky restraunt correct?

4. Wednesday is track time again and then we will break and say good by or will everyone be staying for a after track time BS session?

JW says:
The track is rented by another group on Sunday....but so long as the car dropper offer realizes he may have to wait a bit to get IN, and another bit to get OUT, the track management tells me that dropping off will not be a huge problem, and certainly not a problem after 4:30 pm. Sunday. I plan to unload my car early Sunday evening while it is light out.
Rick or Ed said something about a boat ride for Sunday/Sunday night. The boat will be on Hilton Head. Other than the boat ride, there are no planned activities on Hilton Head on Sunday, but It is perfectly fine to park at my house and go to the beach or whatever. For about a week, someone will be drinking beer at my house at almost all times, so if you need an excuse, don't be bashful. Your wife might like Savannah...you might need to work on your car...

2. Monday morning there may be a few guys running laps but I think I remember Johan may be working on his tan? If my wife comes I do not plan on any track time or watching on monday. What time are yo expecting guests for your Birthday bash monday evening?
JW says
We can only run a couple of cars at a time Monday with only a couple of corner workers. If somebody wants to run Monday, it will be simple to do. We will just take turns running a few laps. Great way to practice. I plan to leave the track in the early afternoon to get a beer at the beach. My wife will want me there so that I can explain what is going on. I never tell her about this until people start showing up. I'm going to light the grill at about 4:30, but do not expect to eat until 6:30 or 7:00. I don't think we can all eat at the same time, as it is just a little grill. You are completely welcome to come over early and get things started, or come late and eat leftovers. I am planning on getting a good night's rest though so I don't throw up in my helmet again.

3. Tuesday is track activity all day then we are visiting some swanky restraunt correct?
JW says
Tuesday is all day with corner workers and regular run groups
We can drink some more beer at the track Tuesday after we quit running, and tuck everything away for the night, shower in the nice new showers (Spydee not withstanding) , and perhaps go to the Shellhouse in Savannah (not fancy).

4. Wednesday is track time again and then we will break and say good by or will everyone be staying for a after track time BS session?
JW says
Wednesday is another day like Tuesday.

Just a clarification, but I still have no real idea of how many are coming to this. There could be 5 Porsches or 50. There could be 5 from HSR or 20. The Cobra contingent has been the only cohesive group to commit to coming. It might just be us, which is fine.
My part is renting the track, and providing a place to have a party if everybody or anybody wants to.I have people staying at the house, and renting houses nearby, and camping at the track, and staying in Motels in both South Carolina and Georgia, and it is a fine line between planning something someone would want to do and something folks would feel obligated to do.Herding cats is not what I'm trying to do. You guys are invited to participate in the track activities as well as the social activities, but if you want to go out and see Savannah on Monday, or go have a cozy romantic dinner, or some boating, that is fine with me.
I think you should certainly unload those cars and drive them around though. Last year, John Owen had the only non-sport-utility vehicle at the big "car show" dinner. My neighbors are still kidding me about that. But,I have to say, drinking and driving Cobras do not mix. You be the judge.
I am going to unload Sunday evening
run some practice laps Monday till 2:00ish
go to the beach, drink beer, light the grill and see what happens.
I should have enough food for about 30 people, and can run down to the Piggly Wiggly if the Porsche club shows up.
We'll shut down early and then it's off to the races.

Gents-

My family and I are currently on a cruise of the Med--Greek Islands, etc (on a boat considerably larger than my canoe).

Our marina plans are not set just yet, but I will post info on my return for those who want to take a short cruise around Hilton Head. The logistics will be a bit strained if I can't figure out how to get my cars to the track before boating but I will work on it.

Johan
Herding cats? Are you still looking for that little cat you kicked out of your car?

As for driving your cobra to the monday night party I guess it will be ok but don't expect any of us to smell very good when we arrive. B.O. and octane 93 make a powerful woman repellant!

Guys
Thanks, my wife has reluctantly agreed to attend and stand between me and spydee's gay advances. Now I can drive the cobra without worring about a sore ass!

Well since everybody appears to be asleep I will like to thank Johan for getting me deep into the doghouse.

I just purchased in the last two months: Hawk front brake pads, new wilwood master cylinders, Kirkey race seat, 28' trailer and accessories and a blow up doll for spydee getting ready for this event.

Oh well at least the wife will be attending this time so I am asking all of you to make sure she feels welcome and keep her too busy to hit the Hilton Head Mall that I am certian I cannot afford to let her roam unattended with loaded plastic after all my new toy purchases.

Can't wait to drink a few brews, tell lies and chase each other around the track.

Ruble, some of us were not asleep. I volunteer to keep your wife busy and away from the malls for you. I will make sure she feels REAL welcome. Please send pictures in advance.

P.S. Ruble,

While I am being so kind to you , I offer some advice as well. My plastic is so loaded up with race car parts, doesn't leave wifey poo much room for major purchases on the credit line.

Ruble-

I believe that wives should be given equal footing on the expense/income ratio. If they bring it in, let them spend it--if not..............................

I have acquired another vehicle and If the number 3 is still available, I'll use it. If not, I'll use a variation of one of my 86 numbers i.e. 186 86 861. The car currently has the number 3 plastered all over it as it is a Porsche GT-3 SuperCup so that would be handy. I plan to bring 3 p-cars as its always good to have a spare.

I'm moving the "canoe" to Hilton Head tomorrow so I'll post get-together info later in the week.

Looking forward to seeing all of you and listening to all that good smack talk.

Rick

I have always admired girls with large brains!
With Mrs. Moore in attendance, who needs the Hooters Girls?
Does she have a sister?

Why am I saying this? Carol will kick my a$$.
See you guys soon.

So, here I sat feeling just a little satisfied with myself for having successfully installed a fuel/air ratio meter in my car. It's part of my never ending quest to substitute technology for a lack of driver skill. I was thinking, "Hey, I'll have something new to show those Cobra guys at Roebling Road." And then I read that Rick will have a little something new on the track too - a fricking Porshce GT-3 Supercup!! .... So, I guess I'm headed back to the sporting goods section at WalMart tomorrow to see if they carry any supercups. I wouldn't want to be known as the guy with the smallest bulge under his driving suit.

Good one..

I bought a new grill today, have it all loaded on the trailer, and Tony Tripoli, Jerome Craig Spydee and I all had a cookout with the grill up on the trailer all strapped down, like the Clampets.

Ruble, tell us about your slicks. what size are they ? Have you driven the car with them on there yet ? Just curious. Might drive a bit different.
Does anybody want some race used, but not slap ass wore out yet, Winston Cup car slicks ? They would be pretty good for burnouts or drag racing.

I'd like a used slick for the living room just be cool but I don't think the wife would allow.

What size are they?

A glass top and they make a great coffee table.

Hey Ed, have you got everything squared away with
"operation cotton stretch" ?

Chip, they are 28.5x12x15 road race radials (5692 and 5704).

Tommy-

I didn't say that I FILLED the Supercup, I just like a little extra room--besides, I'm not secure enough in my manhood to order the proper size.
