Deeper South Cobra Club 2005 Dates
As you all know tomorrow was the date for our second gathering of Cobras but it seems we are not in the rainy season but the Florida monsoons. We think it would be nice to still get together to discuss future gatherings so Larry and I have changed only the mode of transportation, your enclosed car and the new location for breakfast. Let’s meet at 9am June 11th at the Perkins Restaurant 13620 N Cleveland Ave. in North Fort Myers at the Hancock Bridge intersection just before the Caloosahatchee Bridge their phone number 239-656-1999, bring along the wife or come alone but try to attend. If you would like to join us I need an instant reply and I need it now, we need your input and RSVP. Please hit the reply button and tell me if I will be eating breakfast alone or with our new found cobra group. Perkins has a room off to the side at this location that I’m sure they will let us use if we get a large group. Without the Cobras and rain we should have more time to discuss our future plans.
We decided to meet once a month or the second Saturday of each month, please mark your calendars.
June 11th Meet up at the Tanger Factory Outlet at 8am Saturday June 11th for a Cobra convoy to the Key Lime Bistro on Captiva for breakfast:
11509 Andy Rosse Lane (Turn left at the only 4- way stop on Captiva)239-395-4000

We have seven months left in 2005 and hope most can attend most of the outings. I propose that if it rains we should get in our car with a top and still try to attend unless you have a convertible or hardtop for your cobra. June 11th is all planned and mainly because of the possibility of rain concerns starting in June, breakfast was suggested so we will be home before the normal rains begin to fall. September 4th is a Pig Roast sponsored by Tom Gerber, we had one ready to go last year until the Hurricanes blew us out of the box- with more info to follow shortly. November 12th, is the Deep South Cobra Clubs annual meeting weekend November 10th- 13th, 2005. I suggest our group join the other members in Northern Florida, we had about 100 cobras and some manufactures present last year plus a drawing to win a BackDraft Racing Cobra, what are your thoughts? Larry Hess wants to set up a Poker Run for one of our gatherings but we need suggestions for other outings. Don’t just read these posts join clubcobra and post your opinions.

If any Cobra owners in Southern Florida would like to get on our list of local Cobra enthusiasts and join us on our monthly adventures (second Saturday of each month) please drop me an email. Even if you’re already a part of the Deep South Cobra Club but would like to participate a little closer to home, all it takes is an email to me to add you to our list of contacts.

Well I'm in Ohio on my annual visit and trip to the Double Venom Spring Fling 5 this weekend. But I did get a chance to talk with Larry about our next gathering and visit to see the Collier family of cars. It seems as though we have two problems it would have to be a weekday as they don't do Saturdays, and they would like to have a group that's no larger than twenty. This means if we take along the wife only ten couples would be able to attend. The only person that I know that has attended both our last meetings but will not be around for July is Jim Milliken. I suggested to Larry that maybe we could talk our wifes into staying home on this one so twenty guys could attend. Larry said he would either email or call everyone who has responded by coming to our first two events and offer them first choice. When I get back home at the end of June I will post the actual date and if the wifes have chosen to stay home. Keep dry and see you all in July.

Well I'm back from my Ohio trip and I just got an email from Larry as follows:
July 9th Meet up at the Tanger Factory Outlet at 8am Saturday for a Cobra convoy to the Key Lime Bistro on Captiva for breakfast: Rain plans: leave the Cobra at home and use your daily driver. After breakfast, we will plan the next outing for August 13th .
The Keylime Bistro address is 11509 Andy Rosse Lane (Turn left at the only 4- way stop on Captiva) 239-395-4000
http://www.captivaislandinn.com/
The Deeper South Cobra group has been given the opportunity to visit the Collier Auto Collection. The private viewing is for club members and is scheduled for Friday July 22nd at 3pm. We are limited to 20 people. Priority will be given to those who have attended our first two gatherings. If you would like to be included in the private viewing be one of the first 20 who respond to get a viewing slot.
The plan is to have a Cobra caravan originate at 1pm in the Sam’s Club parking lot, which is located west of I-75 at the southeast corner of Immokalee and Airport-Pulling Road in North Naples. We will then convoy to a group lunch at 1:15pm at Applebee’s. At 2:30 pm, we will continue the caravan to the Collier Auto Collection. This is a rain or shine event. If you think you will get wet put on your top, bring a car cover, or plan to use your daily driver. This gathering will be in addition to our normal 2nd Saturday (July 9th) of the month meeting.
At this time we have room for only one more couple to attend to make our total of 20 people.

November weekend
Larry Hess and Dan wulff plan on attending the Reptile Roundup in November as our normal 2nd weekend gathering. Larry will be going up early on November 8th so he can partake of the racing venue planned by Ed Kamptner. Dan will be leaving around noon on November 11th to be there for the dinner planned. Larry and I thought it would be nice to have two convoys traveling to the Reptile Roundup, one with the racers heading into Gainesville and the other that just plans on the events that start on Friday through Sunday in the Ocala area. I have already made reservations at the Microtel Inn for the 11th and 12th for the wife and I as I will be leaving some time on Sunday to return home. If you would be interested in tagging along please email me at dwulff@swfla.rr.com. If you plan on running up with Larry you will have to register for the racing events and be pre paid for these events and there are never many slots available. They don’t have room for spectators because of liability and insurance reasons so you will have to be part of the racers. If interested in this part of the weekend planned please contact Larry at flatspilots3@comcast.net.

On August 13, 2005 Saturday we will be meeting at Flora and Ella's restaurant in LaBelle at 11a.m. for brunch.
Directions are as follows: Take I-75 N toward Tampa merge onto FL-80 E via Exit 141 toward LaBelle. SR-80 (Palm Beach Blvd. in Ft. Myers) all the way to the restaurant. There’s a traffic light coming into LaBelle at Cowboy Way. About another ½ mile or so to the restaurant on the left, part way around the big curve. They’ve got a pretty big sign out front. If you get to SR-29, you went too far. Remember guys we all know this is the rainy season and it might not be COBRA weather but we would like to see everyone try to attend our monthly events, even if you leave the COBRA at home.

We had 10 Cobra enthusiasts join us at Flora and Ella's restaurant in LaBelle for lunch today but as far as cobra weather is concerned it rained like crazy as I drove out of the parking lot. Now I know why John purchased that SPF Coupe.
