Default Goodbye to a good friend

As you all know Ed is leaving next week.
I just wanted to take time to say thank you for all that you have done over the past six plus years.

Thanks again Ed

Jim.

Jim,
Gotta agree with you. Ed, and Robert (and all the DSCC folks) have both helped bring so many new faces into this great circle of friends. As close friends they will be missed, and I hope they both continue the momentum up in the Cold White North.
Thanks guys.
Richard Bailey

Default We will miss you Ed.

Best wishes in your move and good luck with your job. I have a set of old snow chains that should fit your Cobra if you want them.

Hey Jim, save those tears for November. Ed and Robert are going to fly down for their last "Roundup" and will be attending both track days and the car show + the banquet dinner. As neither will have their own cobras for RR 2008,we have received several offers to let them drive members cobras on track. The owners that I talked to said there were going to put in the 3,000 rpm chip they use when they let their kids drive the cobra. I think we will need to put then in the parade lap class!

We need to talk up the car show which will be held at the Fantasy of Flight--Roar N Soar event on November 8 (see details in the DSCC 3Q newsletter). This will be a great event to say your goodby's to two great gents that have given so much to the DSCC. I think it is time to give back... Would'nt it be nice to have over 100 cobras at the car show? The club has never broken 100 at a Roundup car show. Come on out and bring your friends and neighbors to pat these guys on the back-they deserve it. I hope to see all of the 508 members of the DSCC on Nov 8. Wow, 508 on Nov 8 in 2008. Dont' be late...
Larry

Ed and Robert thank you both, especially Ed as he took me off the hook as President, as I found out even being retired you have to put forward a lot of time and effort to make the Deep South Cobra Club run properly. You guys do know you are doing things backwards, you start up north in your careers then head south not the other way around.

Wayne Pontes,
I know this is a gathering of Cobras but do you think you could bring along one of your Cheetas from Tangible Toys I would like to see one up close.

I would think that Cheetahs are welcome. They are after all from the same continent. I'd love to see on on the track as well.

Default We will miss the TOO!

Both Carol and I wish Ed, Rene, and Cameron Kamptner; and Robert and LaRae Donehoo (don't know if Roby and Kristy are going) all the best in there new locations in the Milwaukee area, and with their new jobs at GE Healthcare. At least they got to keep their jobs in this market! We are very familiar with the Milwaukee area (although it has change since we left) as we both grew up there. I think it is a great move for them and hope they will get to enjoy the area and all it has to offer. The peolpe ain't bad either - then there is the food , OH, and how can I forget, they even brew beer there! THEN - there is "Road America" just down the road apiece for some good old car action. I already told Ed about the Northwoods Shelby Club - they rent Road America for their members to go play for a weekend.

Now we need to do something for ourselves and the DSCC!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We are losing two of our mainstays!
We need to choose new leaders to carry on! Anyone who has an interest in the leadership role should contact the secretary and get his or her name on record so we can have a Real Election. Those that are interested should know the workings of the club and its three factions; Racing (the Racers -which basically supports the club thru the trsack events), and Showing (the Waxers - creating the most public awareness). Then there is the fellowship and social part which needs to be carried on (cruises, poker runs, BBQ's, and family get togethers). No one faction will work for ALL of our members, we are as diverse as the color of our cars.

Due to my NC location and commitments, I am NOT a candidate. I will however offer my assistance to head up a nominating committee (made up of at least 3 people), that will assemble names of those interested in the leadership roles and make the hard decision of who we feel would be the best canidates for this upcoming election. I have a call into Ed right now to work on setting up this committee.
I have been thinking of some possible canidates for our new leadership roles: Tom Jones, Richard Bailey, Jim Pomroy, Jim Crandell, Larry Hess, off the top of my head. There are many others who are really qualified, I just can't get the names out of my pea brain right now. If you have any interest, please step forward early. I can't remember this club ever having a real election, just the passing of the torch.

ALL THE BEST TO THE KAMPTNERS AND DONEHOOS, and THANKS for ALL you've done

TERRY LEE
and
CAROL (too)
