Let me know what style guide plates and studs you need, and I'll get them right out....

The heads have arrived and looking fantastic. Mr. Mustang, We do have U2's heads. Very pretty with just a minute amount of surface rust.
They are 289 heads! 1966, and are ready for the guide plates and screw in studs. But, I have no idea which ones we need.
Second major question- Cam, lifters and proper pushrods?
Looking for serious input here. Don't think we should go with "solids" as we obviously don't know if the winner will be capable or even willing to keep them in adjustment. Got to have a little, "rumpety, rump, rump though!
A lot of help will be needed from our family in the forth coming weeks. We will do this!
DV...Practice is over!

Mr Mustang,
Well there's fome funny looking round thingys with a shaft going toward the top of the big holes. I think there are 8 of them. Most of my motors have 10!
Bill the block itself appears to be a stock 289 - non Hi-PO. I haven't seen it since we dropped it off at the machine shop.
Steve Smith. from Dayton walked into the shop yesterday with a brand new Edelbrock 289 stamped Intake! Thanks Steve and family!
I know Wayne Presley is up to something (something about fuel injected "stacks"), but not holding my breath on this one. Most likely we will be running a (God forbid) Holley ??? CFM.
Mechanical or electrical choke Sir?
If you want specs I will get them tomorrow as soon as our machine shop opens!
Gotta get this done! We have miles to go with "Jenny's Cobra".
DV...Are you ready?

Holley, electric choke, no bigger than 650cfm (not a street avenger series either). Will need to know projected compression, and what CC the heads are, along with which type of screw in studs you'll need (size of thread going in to heads, size of stud itself). Push rod length will depend on which cam (standard or roller) and rocker style (ditto) your planning to use, your going to have to make an educated guess on these, then find an adjustable push rod to get the accurate (IE: correct) lengths dialed in......Get me the specs, and I'll get you what I can....Cam wise, I prefer the non roller rocker hydraulic units that emulate the older style 289HiPo cams.....Crane makes a really nice unit, but I need to know what type of compression we are going to have (I suggest no more than 9:8:1 so you can still run pump gasoline)........
Will await your detailed response........
Sincerely,
Bill S.
