I originaly posted this on All Cobra Talk but it should probably be here:
Everything is now ready to announce a new program for DVSFIII. Following last years event I was talking with DV and he commented that "our family" (his words) has given big to Team Jenny/ Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and we should try to find ways to increase awareness in effort to get others involved with donations and sponsorships, hence the idea for the DVSF Drive-A-Thon. Dan Stryffeler and I did a little brainstorming and Dan has done a masterful job creating an information package and sign up sheet. The concept is very simple; convince friends, family, co-workers, even strangers on the street if you are ballsy enough, to pledge a per mile donation for your trip to the Fling, or for those trailering in or not bringing a Cobra use the option of a set donation. The amount pledged is up to the individual making the donation; we've used the example of .10 per mile just cause I'm kind of dumb so the math is easy, but it can be a penny, dime, dollar or amy amount.
To view the details log in to
dvsf.com and click on the blue "drive-a-thon" box with the CFF logo. You'll find information on CF and a brief history of DVSF to use in your sales pitch to potential sponsors as well as instructions and the sign up sheet. Please take the time to check it out, print it and recruit some pledges to benefit CF. It is a rather large file so if you are on a slow connection or have trouble getting it to load e-mail me and I'll fax or mail a copy to you.
I truly hope we can get all of you attending the event involved in this because it has the potential to really generate some money to help out the thousands of kids and young people like Jenny. Again, using my favorite simple math; 300 Cobras X $50 of donations each = $15,000!
Just for starters, I'm sure there are a number of people who would gladly donate a few bucks to send some of the Gasholes out of their towns for a long weekend!
Questions, comments, suggestions?
Thanks all,
Jeff
