DV, can I bring my GT350?
DV and all the other organizers, since I am set to hit the road for the trip to Ohio in a little over a week and I still do not have pistons for my motor, no oil cooler and a gazillion other little parts, pipes aren't even welded yet, never mind coated...my Kirkham will not be there. I am planning on bringing my GT350 instead. Would this ruin the spirit of DVSF? I wanted to run my dilemna by you.

If you use the on-line registration form, you can simply show your GT-350 as "Other"
But...If you buy 10 Raffle tickets, I'll even change the on-line form to make a GT-350 "official."
I'll let DV answer the inevitable question about where you would fit in Sunday's parade!

TomH,
I assume I will be at the back of the parade . Then again the front maybe as a warm-up act and road clearer
The fact that I helped coordinate the sale of 30 raffle tickets will hopefully buy me some forgiveness .
AFTER ALL, that is a major reason for this event, and to meet all the friends behind the keyboards. For me, that is why I am going. The cars are a draw, but I am just as happy to look at a Shelby tribute Mustang as a Cobra, as a GT-40, or whatever nicely prepared car is in front of me.

Bring it on!
In my humble opinion, I say bring it! Of course, I'm biased since the GT350 is my second favorite car next to my 427 S/C! At the first Fling there was a "gasp" Corvette and some Austin- Healy thing.(Probably not an Austin-Healy but it looked like one) Besides, what is worse, a GT350 or a 427 S/C with a Chevy engine!
I look forward to seeing it.
Larry

ToyCollector,
Hmmmmm, you have really put me on the spot here.
Let me think about it.
Think,Think,Think, etc............................................... .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ....................... .
When this whole event got started this was one of the hottest and most debated topics relating to the DVSF. Do we or don't we?
The decision was made that IF the Fling ever grew up, and "WE" wanted to expand, then the next logical direction of growth would be all of Shelby's creations. Do you think with almost, if not over 300 Cobras converging on one small mid-western town qualifies us as being grown up?
Do you think a fellow Cobra owner with an uncompleted Cobra should be at the DVSF? I certainly hope so! As we have numerous owners coming with their family's who can't bring their cars.
Do you think a guy that has registered, supported the DVSF and Team Jenny whole heartedly for over 6 months, sold raffle tickets, and has helped keep the dreaded "Gasholes" in line all year should be allowed to come with his off brand Shelby?
Think, think,think....................................... .............................. . Think I'll ask the real boss of the DVSF. (Time out while Mrs. DV goes through this thread............................................ .............)
Phew there IS a debate going on here in the background!
The vote IS: 2-0
As Larryar pointed out we did have an Austin Healey owner the first year, (who didn't have a Cobra), and a very active forum member that had "just" sold his Cobra, and brought his Vette instead. They both took some good natured ribbing, but all in all I think they were accepted, at least in the terms of a "red-headed step child"
Bottom line........I think it would be an honor to have a GT-350 join us. And I for one, very much look forward to seeing that fine automobile!
DV........PS Please take a polaroid of your Kirkham, no...take two! Paste one to the passanger side windshield of your GT and carry the other on your person at all times while at the Fling!

YEAH!
As much as I would love to see your new KMP I am more looking forward to seeing the GT350 (is it an 'original'). The GT350R is one of my all time favorites.
Can I have a ride?
I think considering everything you have done, allowing the GT350 to participate with the Cobras is a good call. Supporters and Volunteers help this whole event happen in a big way and this is a just reward!

Well, this is supposed to be a one big happy cobra family event .
So Toycollector wants to bring a cousin. I say cousins are
welcome too.
Boy ! I can hardly wait. ......I keep wondering how I'm gonna get
that 289 FIA home after I win it..
