Who would "YOU" like to see attend the DVSF IV ?
I think it's time to invite someone special to the Fling. Look at it this way...you wont have to listen to me for so long on Friday night!
Seriously, I'm not talking about Leno or anyone like that. I am talking about the Cal metal's', Steve Sunshine's, Kirkhams etc., of the Cobra world. Past, present drivers, builders, designers, who ever!
Of course it will all depend on the persons willingness to appear.
You can e-mail me if you want to keep your suggestion anonymous.

Probably the first person I want to be at the Fling is..... ME I didn't have a chance to get there last year, and it tore me up to think of the fun I was missing out on.
As a slight variation to your question, the biggest car show in Australia has a manufacturers tech day, where every hour there would be a different manufacturer offering technical advice within their category of expertise.
Engine builders (Levy, Anderson etc) discussing what they build, why they choose certain parts, and answering general engine related questions....
Turnkey builders (DV, Oben, Levy etc)talking a little about the brand that they generally build, and giving advice and answering general qeustions about any pitfalls that they have come across over the years....
David Kee (for example) bringing a disassembled toploader and discussing the best way to assemble a toploader, or best adjust shift linkages....
Painters (DV, SRP, Batman etc) doing a short overview of the pitfalls the average guy might come across when doing initial de-seaming.
I would also dearly love to see a demonstration as seen at KISS, where someone (Tom K?) got his hammer out and bashed a bloody great dint in the alloy bodied kirkham Cobra, then showed how easy it is to repair alloy when you know what you're doing.
By now, you get the idea of what I'm talking about. Yes - it get's the manufacturers and industry players involved, and i know that you wanted to keep things non-commercial. At the end of the day though, if the tech seminars are staged properly, Cobra enthusiasts will be the winners.

Damn Craig...you beat me.... I wanna be the first person I want to see at the fling. You've already been once
Damn good suggestions tho, many cobra enthusiasts buy/build more than one cobra...practice on one...perfect the next.
Now..if I was in the auto trade.. I could then claim all expenses as a training seminar...hmmmmm

It goes without saying we all want Jenny and the Smith family to attend.
I like that idea of having different "specialty" people come in. Turn-key builders, painters, engine builders, parts suppliers, racers... Great idea. That should have something for everyone.
The only other thing I'd suggest is still trying to get more media attention. Not to make it a circus by any means. But the more attention we can draw, the more people we can attract and the more money we can raise for CF. Whether it is My Classic Car, or local news media, or even the Food Network (since this started with the chocolate chip cookies). Let's draw people out to see what a great family we have.
Steve

Speaker of the House Haskell...he's a huge car guy, great speaker. His presence would generate some attention in itself. It would be good to hear his words on CF, cars and government.

Brock, Bondurant, Gurney, Mario? I am not much interested in sports figures aside from racers. Rahal is local but not a lot of Shelby/Rahal history. I would still like to chat with him though!
How about ole Shel' himself? And no, we are not giving a donation!
Aside from guys like that, it would be nice to see the Kirkhams, Weavers, Olthoffs, Enzo, etc, etc, etc.............

No beating required Bill, who better to celebrate the Cobra?
Also some of the famous cobra drivers as mentioned before would be good. Maybe they can charge donations to sign dashboards and stuff.
I also think it would be nice if we could get more manufacturers there so people see the differences first hand.

Last years top ten runner up "Hooter Girls" . Of course would have to leave the wife in the hotel room for the planned photoshoot.

Personally.... I couldn't care less about personalities.
What I would like to see in London is a manufactures row. I see advertisements for all of the builders in this industry and, with a little effort on their part, this can be an oportunity for them to show everybody what they've got.
I'd like to see HDR, JBL, Robnell and anybody else that's got a chassis they think is worth showing us with the body off. All of the turnkey-minus and kit offerings should be there.
As cooperative as London is with all of this, I'll bet that they will make space for something like this to set up.
Speechs are nice but I want to see the goods. That way if I ever decide to step up....... I'll know where to spend my money.

This is one unique event where, in my opinion, no famous personality or celebrity is going to make a difference in anyone deciding to attend or not.
If you look at the high points of any prior fling, WE are the entertainment.
It would be great to have personalities or celebrities, as long as they DONATE their time and do not take appearance fees or expenses.
