Alternate venues for DVSFIV? Ideas?
I'm going to make Ohio hotel reservations, as I can cancel them up to the last minute without penalty. So if they catch this #%#@, I'm Ohio bound. But if not, I agree the Fling should still happen. It's such a family event, and we raised SO much money for Team Jenny. If it has to move for just one year, or do something slightly different, let's make the best of it.
So how about alternate venues? DV, ideas or suggestions? This is your baby, you should lead us forward.
At this stage of the game, it would probably be impossible to pull of something to the scale of DVSFIII somewhere else, but we can at least get something together. Or as suggested, do regional activities all on the same day.
I'll start. We will be proud to do something here in Pennsylvania. We are a neighboring state to Ohio, with a huge group of active Cobra lovers up and down the entire east coast. We have local drag strips and active SCCA autox groups. And I know several locations that are PERFECT for a huge car show.
Or how about doing something in conjunction with the Kit show at Carlisle? It's an already established multi-day event with a huge Cobra presence.
Who else has ideas for a great gathering location?
Steve

Steve I am not suggesting this as an alternate location for the Fling but what about the Cobra Revolution you guys are putting on? With no Fling I would think your draw could be a lot higher and if you guys are up to it you could extend the schedule to include more events. Thoughts?

Rick,
Our Cobra club would more than welcome anyone who wants to join us for the Cobra Revolution II. We actually chose the date intentionally to be 3 weeks away from the Fling, as we have plans for several of our members to attend, and we do not want to interfere or conflict with it. So we chose Saturday June 5th (and were reserving Sunday as a rain date).
Yes, there are lots of things that we could plan to do if we had enough interest. There are local drag strips. Active SCCA autox groups and other activities possible. Our clubs goal was to keep it simple and family oriented, but we welcome any and all and could find lots of stuff to do.

I know as of this point I am giving some serious thought to coming. There are a number of alternatives and as time goes by I am going to be picking at least one!
Thanks
Rick

With so many people offering in a relocation site for the DVSF, perhaps we should have regional events, just in case some folks do not want to travel further than they originally planned to. Here in the North East, Steve and I can get together and arrange for both autocross and 1/4 track time. Show fields are Steve's baby, NJ based tracks and Autocross I can arrange. Then we get a group of people to do the same in the south, then the west, and again in the central US....Place a challenge to each group as to which group can raise the most funds for charity.........
What do you guys think about something like this......

Why doesn't someone set up a poll and see if:
1) a regional event is something they want to see
Or 2) if they want to travel somwhere that is relatively centrally located like KC. They have all the facilities that we would need.

Alternative Location
This is too easy,
All the work and planning is already completed, The Host hotels are set, more Cobras than you ever saw, real ones too.One week later than the original plan and still centrally located.
BTW, MOST convention goers DON'T open track, they go for the three day party.

Please check the DVSF IV news update. We now have three plans. You guys keep pumping blood and determination into this...well it may work.
I assure you all three tenative plans are extremely viable and do-able.
