CF Benefit Dinner for Team Jenny/Natalie
DV,
Hope you're reading!
I think I mentioned before when we were talking about growing up in Lexington, etc... that my Niece has CF. As if the cobra family isn't amazing enough to me, it hits me even a little deeper when I think about my niece, Natalie, and your Jenny.
I want to do more than pay to register and show up because I think CF research is a very important cause, but as far as free cash to donate, I am not flowing, as it were.
So I said, "well what can I do?" and I came up with the fact that I can cook. The people I work with know it, too (I think). I decided to host a benefit dinner and cook for it, as well. Going to charge a per-plate donation and just foot the grocery bill myself (my donation, I guess). Every penny that comes in goes to wherever things go.
If I were to go through with this (and I'm going to if I seem to get enough interest), I want the guests to write checks directly to the cause. Could you tell me what that would be?
Thanks,
JP

Besides the Cobra, cooking is my second passion!! If you need a sous chef, let me know. What do you think about a spaghetti dinner kind of thing? Quick and dirty-cheap to put on-good ROI!

Heck yeah, Frank, that'd be a great idea. Hmm, you in Columbus, me in Cleveland. Not sure if we'll be able to work together on this one, but... if you can think of anything, let me know. I will be down closer (lexington) a fair amount in the next couple of months.

Hey I've gotten a private email, now, too, regarding a MUCH bigger event than I'd initially posted about yesterday. Now, I'm not opposed to anything, but I hadn't even considered something big.
My thing was I put together a gourmet 6 course menu and was opening it up for people at work who wanted to come. Just cookin' in my nice little one-bedroom here in Cleveland.
But by ALL MEANS, if someone wants to help out and help me organize something bigger, good ROI as Frank mentioned, email me. I'm all over it.

JP,
How can I be against anything that brings "our" family together and raises money for CF?
By all means fella go for it. Since you are in Cleveland now may I suggest you get ahold of "Hotfingers" on this forum. This man was amazing when it came to organizing events for the DVSF IV, when we thought we were going to Clevland...and I mean amazing.
He'd call, ask me what about this or that, and this or that was amazing and he had it already set up waiting for my blessing!
I told him to move to Columbus for cryin' out loud. Bottom line is you've got some truly great Cobra guys up there! Ask themn for help and guidance...but beware, you;re going to get it!
Ed "DV" Combs... If you come--you WILL come back!
PS. JP call me when you get a chance at the shop= 740-852-5280

Ed, I'll try to give you a ring tomorrow morning sometime (Thursday)
Hotfingers, you've been formally recruited!!! Reply to this post if you're interested in setting something up in the Cleveland area and we'll try to touch base sometime...
Thanks!

J.P.:
My mom and my sister and her family are in Cleveland. I'm originally form Cleveland. I'm up there at least twice a month. We can work together. I can come up for a few days at a time if necessary. I have relatives in the restaurant business, too! What ever I can do!

DV,
I need an address to send some CHECKS for JENNY! I've got 6 people coming to the dinner I'm hosting at $75/head. I figured I'd throw in the last 50 and start things off with $500 for Team Jenny. I'm sure things have already started, but I don't really care about being first. Just early.
I'm having people make checks out to DVSF/Team Jenny. That's correct, isn't it?
Thanks,
JP
PS.....see you on 5/15??? (see below)

Frank, et al...
If everyone's still somewhat interested in a "larger scale" event (pancakes, spaghetti, high ROI items...) let me know. I'm still game, but am kind of caught up planning my smaller event and some other stuff right now. Probably won't be able to spearhead the bigger event, but will DEFINITELY be happy to help in any way possible....

Hmm...I'd love to present them Friday, but I'm guessing my guests will not want their checking accounts in limbo for 2 months.
Maybe I can make one of those big fake Foam-Core checks and make the donation on behalf of the Mid Ohio Cobra Club...
In any event, count on it!!!
