THE DVSF raffle Cobra!
The DVSF IV raffle car.
That is the question. I knew long before I cancelled the Fling, that there was a very, very good chance that, in fact it may end up being cancelled. There fore I was really reluctant to contact any of our wonderful sponsors and ask them to donate a car, knowing that we may in fact have to return it.
Getting up to date--When the news broke that a warrant had been issued for our “shooter”, DV Jr. was on the phone before the end of the newscast wanting to know if he could now go forward. Of course I said yes which now brings us up to date.
Not only having to start out cold, making new reservations, from the hotels to the Police, to remaking and planning new events, all in less than 90 days.
Now, what to do about our traditional raffle? Every year people have asked and now almost, but not quite demanded a “Turnkey” car. The last few weeks around Fling Headquarters this has been the main topic. What, who and biggest problem was how!
Then it struck me! A perfect solution, or is it? I contacted Dave Smith, you know…Jenny’s dad. I talked to Alice at Cystic Fibrosis and received her blessing. I talked to Paula from “Finish-Line”; I even talked to MrMustang to obtain his thoughts.
Needless to say, without fail, no one could believe what I was trying to do. The word “nuts” seemed to come up in every conversation. Oh well, I’ve never heard that before.
We have “tentative” arrangements to put the raffle car in the “Hot Rod Power Tour”. It will be at the “Chrysler Classics” in Columbus, Oh. It very well could be shipped to Carlisle, Pa., Louisville, Ky., Atlanta, Ga. And dozens of ports yet to be named. If you have a large event that you think will be appropriate and that will sell raffle tickets please let me know! DV Jr. is packed with truck and trailer ready.
You know the car. It’s won almost every race it’s been entered into. It broke all records at the Run N Gun at its debut. It runs the ¼ in 11.01. It turns heads wherever it goes. Its won countless trophy’s, and best of show awards. Its been written up in multiple magazines, and I could go on and on.
I know this Cobra very intimately. You know it as the original “Double Venom” Cobra.
Details: I am not donating the car to CF, although I wish I could afford it. CF and I have come up with an agreeable sale. After this amount is reached, 100% will go to Jenny and CF. The car will be raffled regardless of the number of tickets sold.
Dave Smith has really sweetened the pot for the winner too! If anything should happen to the car within two years, he will provide free transportation for it, to and from our shop and your home for repairs.
I hope you guys are as excited about this old beat up car as I am. Heck it was time to build something different anyway!
DV...This is at it should be

I don't know if I can purchase a ticket for a Cobra with an engine from Chrysler! You did answer another question I had, is there going to be a raffle car for 2004? Yes there is! For Jenny I might be able to purchase a ticket. Does the purchase price include a COOKIE?

Dan,
There might be more than just "one" large item up for auction (I've planted the seed in everyones minds), but I cannot get in to that any further at this time.........."Da Bunnies" have sworn me to secrecy .

Damn DV!! You always outdo yourself each and every time, don't ya? That is just phenomenal. Are you sure you're ready to part with that beauty? I hope whomever wins it understands the meaning that car has. I know I do.
If you're looking for places to bring the car to try to sell tickets, I'd be honored to have that car (and of course DV Jr. and/or yourself) at the Cobra Revolution II. I'm hoping for 50 Cobras, but not sure how many will actually come. It's June 5th and 6th.
Anyway, you should be proud of this thing you have created.
Steve

Steve,
Send me details! It is very possible we could get it there. All depends on scheduling conflicts now.
Yes, it IS the history and not just the car. Lets just say it's my retirement present to our Cobra family and to little Jenny.
DV...Have a show or event where you think we can show off the DV Cobra and sell tickets? Let us know!

May I suggest, for this tread, that the information about the fling and who, what and where be posted for all to see?
If we wish to buy a ticket, even if we can not attend, that information should be posted as well.
Klayfish, I would love to make your June dates, but can not. I think this is one of the best things we do. We support those that need it.
I only wish we could have our troups back here for the summer.
God Bless!

Ed,
Since I'll be going to the Cobra Revolution, if you need any assistance close to this event, just let me know.

Rick, I have no idea. It will truly be a loss on my part, but it had to go anyway. You can "Luve EM', but ya gotta turn 'em loose sooner or later!
Think Frank will want it at Germains?

Frank I thought it was at Germain's!
The 12th may be tough if we're with the Hot Rod Power tour. Still waiting on that one. Randy, DV Jr. is filling up the calendar quick, but I guarantee you, if the car is in town it will be at Anderson's!

OCC guys coming to the MOCC 1st annual picnic on 5/12, if we can get enough guys to come to that, DV said he "might" be able to free the car up to come up.
So come have a coke! Then go have some beers after we vacate the Municipal Park.
