Going to the Fling without a Cobra? Or with children?
I've noticed a few people asking about going to the Fling without a Cobra. DV has addressed the issue, but I thought it deserved another thread of it's own. I would say that if you are passionate about these cars, and like the Cobra community, aka "family", then it is well worth your trip to come to the Fling. From my experience, it is a gathering of Cobras, but more importantly, it's a gathering of people who share common interests...the car, friends and Team Jenny. I'd be willing to bet there will be no shortage of folks who do have Cobras offering to give rides to Flingers who don't. I know that when my second seat is unoccupied, I'll be happy to give a ride to a Cobra-less Flinger. Anyone one else got an open seat for people? This kinda leads into my question.
Gonna have a 3 month old at this years Fling. With the wife, that makes three of us. Cobra is a two seater. We're towing and will have a support vehicle to transport my son. However, my wife and I would certainly like to be able to ride together sometime during the Fling. I'd hate to have her just follow us around in the support vehicle, transporting him the entire weekend. Are there any other folks in similar positions? Perhaps we can work out a carpooling arrangement. One day, we'll grab a bunch of kids and transport them in our car. The next day, someone else can use their support vehicle. Or possibly rent a van? I'll make sure our son is fed and content before getting into your car. He's got lungs that can rival a nice small blocks' exhaust...

I've never been to DVSP before, so I would like to "do it all", but for a cooler full of beer my wife and I would be glad to watch the kid for a while. Staying at the Cross County. PM me for cell #

You guys have fun. Not having my Cobra with me never stopped me from enjoying the last two 'flings. Can't make it this year as I shall be in Greece at the time, but will be thinking of you all.
Take care and have a good one.

Wilf,
Your whit and antics will be missed..... ( this has got to be the worst display of poor planning I've ever seen )
If my bride does not make it with me again this year, I'll have need for a co-pilot. Staying at the cross country with the rest of the rowdy bunch.

klay:
We're going sans cobra, mainly because it's not done yet!
But with the minivan, a 5 yr old, a 2 yr old, and a 6 month old, we have room for one more. Or your son could hang out with us during an event or at the hotel while you catch some seat time. We're staying at the Hampton Thurs thru Sun. You can PM me or email at praneis@hotmail.com if need be.
We're not planning on attending every event during the weekend, but as soon as DV posts the schedule, we can pick and choose (that COSI thing sounds neat). I think the picnic will be a definite though.
As for volume, wait until you hear the 6 mo old hungry and the 2yr and 5yr olds pestering each other with not enough sleep.... I'd consider the small block "peace and quiet..."
