Can't make it this year...! Hotel Room available...
Sorry, but due to some unforeseen problems at the house, I won't be able to make this year's Fling...MUCH to my dismay!
We had our hot water heater rupture on April 27, causing almost $80K in damages! We're out of the house and living in a hotel at State Farm's expense. They're getting the house repaired just fine, thanks, but it looks like we may be moving back in the same week as the Fling...dammit! I don't know whether to be overjoyed we may be moving back in, or mad as hell I can't make the Fling. But, my misfortune may turn out to be someone else's fortune....I have a room at the Fairfield now available, if anyone's interested.
Tell you what...let me know via this forum, or return email. Give me your phone number, and I'll call you, then I'll conference in the Fairfield and I'll cancel while you're on the line with them so you'll be sure and get the room. Howzzat sound...?
Lemmenosumpin....
Hate I can't make it...but, we're almost going to have a new house when we move back in...! New hardwood floors..new ceilings and walls....fresh paint everywhere...and so on. It'll be good to get back home....

What! No Flyin Freddie? That is it, we must cancel the Fling
80K in damage!? It doesn't have a pan under attached to the drain? Bet the new one does!
Talk to your contractor, see if he can't delay finishing for a week so you can make the Fling!

Yes, it did have a pan...
Yes..it did indeed have a pan under it...and it was up to building code, too. But, when the clean out valve blows off the side of the tank, nothing but a 1000 gallon tub will hold all the water. Remember, the city water pressure just kept trying to refill the empty tank....the one with the now missing clean out valve, remember? And it kept trying to do so until the water was turned off some 30 minutes later. Ever try to figure how much water can go through a 3/4 inch hole at 90 psi for 30 minutes....?
I can personally attest to "...a lot..." ! In fact, let me amend that to "...a HELLUVA lot!"

Man that stinks Freddy! The valve blew off. How about building a shower around it Hope you did not loose any thing that was not replacable.
Now, back to ways to slow up the contractor so you can come and play............

Freddie,
Put a pool in and have the next one drain into it....
I was looking forward to you picking up my slack at the Fling this year, as I will also, miss this one.
I guess next year we will have to party twice as hard to make it up.

Don't wanna hold up the contractor...!
We've been living in a damned hotel since April 29...! I don't have access to my SPF...it's stored in the trailer down at the storage facility. I don't have access to my workshop. I don't have access to my scooters. I don't have access to my garage, as it's all full of furniture and 'stuff'...as is our master bedroom, the boy's playroom, my hobby room and our guest bedroom. I can't even take a freakin' dump at the house...period...! I HATE IT...! I'm more than ready to move back in to my home!
Hold up the contractor? HELL NO! If he got us ready to move back in today, it would be 6 weeks too late...!

Room is first come, first served...
I've also offered the room over on the Superformance Owners Forum, as well...first come, first served.
Like I said...send me your phone number. I'll call you, then conference in the Fairfield hotel reservationist. While we're all on the phone, I'll cancel the room and whoever's on the phone can have it booked in their name and credit card, so they'll know they have a room.
Barring any interest, I'll just call and cancel the week of the Fling, and let the johnny-come-latelys fight over it.

Back to the water heater, not that this may matter now but the same thing happened to my friend. Not quite as much damage but a pain in the a$$ nonetheless. Had to sign off on an agreement with ins. co. (before they would pay him) that he was being compensated in full and this matter was considered over and done. Had it all repaired and put back together and within 2 weeks it happened again. Turns out he had municipal water too and they were working on the main (both times) and overpressured it out in the street which caused the valve to blow again. Insurance Co. said that the claim was settled and closed and to go after the town which he is, but its not that easy as you can imagine. He now has a regulator hooked up to the incoming plumbing which will only allow a max pressure of 60lbs since the town will not guarantee minimum or maximum pressure.
Don't mean to wreck your day, just something to think about while your in that hotel room.

Awwwww......shucks....(Freddie blushes as he shuffles about...)
Glad we got it taken care of. Sure wish I could make it, but we just heard yesterday that the movers are coming to unpack us next Thursday and Friday...which is, of course, right on top of the Fling...! About the time you guys will be just gettin' in gear, I'll be helping to unpack our stuff. Bummer.....
...don't know whether to be overjoyed we're moving back in to our home, or pissed that I can't make the Fling...
I'm planning on drinking heavily next weeekend after we get moved in....so, maybe I'll be there in 'spirits'...
Hoist one for me, will ya, guys...?
