Yet Another Scrap Book of Pictures
(Let's see if I can do this right on the first take and not have to spend the entire evening trying to get the thing to work here on the forum.)
I took 423 digital pictures at the Spring Fling, here are 35 of the pictures along with some commentary.
It all began one dark and stormy evening ... no really, it did!
Driving into Ohio I was presented with a pretty large thunderstorm. Of course the storm was moving east and so was I.
The further I drove, the worse the storm. I decided to pull off one time to put the tonneau top on the Cobra that I was towing on an open flat car hauler. The second time I stopped it was for a pit stop. Just as soon as I stopped the car a flash of lightening followed by an immediate clap of thunder occurred. Just outside the bathroom a tree split from the lightening hit.
The drive into Columbus continued with a worsening storm. It got to the point that I was traveling at 40 mph along with semi trailers traveling not much faster. I really pity anyone driving their Cobra in on Thursday night!
The next day I went to take my Cobra off of the trailer only to find that the key to the locks holding the ramps under the trailer had broke. No problem, some quick work with a lug wrench broke the locks. Ramps out and in place the next order of business was to warm up the Cobra.
I've got a pre-luber on my Cobra; a flick of a switch and an electrical pump pre-lubes the engine with oil. Next, switch on the ignition and press the Start button. The engine turns over maybe once and then makes a cluck sound and refuses to turn over. The only thing I can think of is the engine must have swallowed some water while I towed the car in the rain: hydrostatic lock!
I borrowed a wrench and spark plug socket (I've forgotten your name, but THANK YOU AGAIN)! Eight plugs out, turn on the ignition, press the Start button; the engine spins freely and shoots water out of three of the spark plug holes! Spark plugs back in and give the engine a try: vroom! Whew!
Registration was in the parking lot of one of the hotels...
Along with Cobras in the parking lot were some other interesting cars, like Hershal's incredible RF GT40:
And there was a pretty neat looking Jaguar C type:
Got to mention Richard's Coupe...
Later in the afternoon folks encouraged everyone to, um, clean the road with their rear tires...

I really enjoyed the Poker Run. I had the fellow from Kit Car ride along as my co-pilot. He did a great job of making sure we didn't get lost. One technique is to make sure that you are not the first Cobra out of an area!
A line up of Cobras at Jegs...
Cobras at the outdoor mall and Champps Restaurant.
The Red Bull folks were handing out free samples at the mall...
The only picture I have of the stop at the Bogey Inn. Flat tire (fixed), loose rocker stud (being fixed). I did offer up a can of Fix-a-Flat to use in the valve cover to quite the noisy rocker...
After brats and hamburgers at the Bogey we traveled to the last stop at the Dutchman.
That evening there was a family picnic in the field across the road from the hotels. BBQ Chicken, brisket, all sorts of fixin's. Fine food, but if you want real BBQ you have to come to KC. The auction was held, the results from the poker run were sorted out (3 of a kind won if I remember correctly). I immediately lost at the $50 poker buy-in. They had the dyno set up and a band played occasionally.

The next morning we lined up at Speedway for the trip into London. (Anyone want to comment on the men's room at Speedway? )
In town, parked for the world to see. The sight of over 200 Cobras parked on the main streets of London is amazing!
Superformance's Coupe:
GT40 motor:
Real funny looking Cobra!
Giving rides...

Toward the end of the day the young ladies who had been selected Ms. Ox Roast (or some such honor) arrived for their rides in the Cobras...
One would ride...
... as others would wait ...
The next day we lined up again at Speedway...
Richard's Coupe again, sure is nice...
We drove for what seemed like forever to a secluded and secret spot in the middle of Ohio. Only those with GPS units had any idea of where we were. Smart folks gave money to the local folks to act as guides for the later return trip! (Actually it was a quite nice place with a very impressive lodge.)
The dyno was set up for folks (everyone except those with pin-drive wheels):
Right before lunch of brats and burgers Ed thanked everyone, we thanked Ed and company...
And then at 3 PM the winning ticket was chosen...
On speaker phone Ed phoned the winner. (Actually it wasn't that easy. Ed was able to contact the Mrs. who had her husband call Ed back ... from England!)
Some time later, after an evening of Raki and new friends, I headed home...

Thanks for sharing your pics, Pete. I was unable to make this fling. I was at the first three and hope to be at number five. Looks like I missed alot of fun.
Thanks again

Excellent, has the interest in the coup been passed on to the budget... yet?
