I'M INTERESTED IN HOW MUCH WAS RAISED. I KNOW IT WAS NOT AS MUCH AS DVSF III.
MAYBE WE COULD RAISE MONEY LOCALLY AND SENT IT IN. GO TO CAR CRUISES & SHOWS AND GIVE RIDES FOR $10??

Dwight--
I'm thinking our costs were less this year -- no band, more Cobra's and people involved -- I hope it was more, but I guess we will need to wait for DV to total up the figures. I think the figure for last year was well over $100,000.00
As far as raising money -- some clubs have done just that -- and I know their efforts made a big difference --- I think it is an excellent idea but someone in your area will need to take the ball and run with it. So if your up to it -- jump in ---

Mike,
I'm curious as well. It was a great effort by Ed and crew, considering they had to start from scratch again. Hopefully we were able to raise some serious money for C.F.

I was also wondering how much money was raised and how cobra's made it to the event? I heard so many different numbers on registration I didn't know what was right. ED... Randy throw us a bone

Ah, yes, the big question -- How many Cobra's were at the fling??
I know we had a lot of them --- The lines of Cobra's at the truck stop seemed to never end ----
Hey -- Ed how about some feedback --- America is waiting to know---
Thanks

You could probably add 1 as if it makes a difference. I was back at Ed's shop putting in a new clutch cable. Better than last year and with less notice..... very humbling. A Jenny is blazing a trail for other's with CF. All is well in cobraville..

AJ --
Are you saying we raised more $$ this year then last??
That would be excellent -- Does CF send out a thank you card??
I am sure the final amount will be mind blowing, as it was last year.

I think AJ meant that the fling was better than last year. I would not be surprised if the amount raised came under last year. Expenses were lower, however, I do not think as much was raised on auction items. I do not know how much they raised for the car raffle. In any event, whatever dollar amount we as a family raised for CF, we should be proud that we are trying to make a difference for the futures of some children who really need it. I personally do not attend the fling for a thank you. It is about family and helping a cause. If you gave rides of any type, you know from the look on your passenger's face that they are glad that we took over their town. I was fortunate enough to give rides to a CF volunteer and the head of catering for the park. I know that they appreciate our effort. Hopefully Ed and Randy will have good news for us on a total sometime in the near future, as well as about the future of the fling. I hope Ed and Randy decide to carry on the banner. If they did not, I find it hard to beleive that the Fling will die an easy death, but there is something behind these two gentlemen that allowed them to pull this off four years in a row with very limited resources. As Arcenio says, try getting your family gathered for a family picture, that is hard enough! Try getting 300+ cars, maybe 600 people, two (maybe more) police departments, a city, a state park and all the other tidbits together with the limited resources that these gentlmen have. There are entire committees that put on annual events like this, with planners, large budgets and all. And these two, and their few helpers have full time jobs and/or businesses to run. I know that there are a lot of volunteers to help out with this or that, but in the end, many of those volunteers family or work lives take them away from what they sign up for.
What ever the amount raised, bless this wonderfull Cobra family and the Dad and Son that have brought the group together for 4 years straight with many hurdles in the way.
Thank you or not from CF, I know that they appreciate it. I know Dave Smith appreciates the effort that goes in for his Daughter's name and to fight for a cure for a disease that has affected his family.
Thank you to the wonderfull Cobra family for joining in London Ohio and giving yet another reason to own one of these cars.
If you feel that the amount raised could be higher, organise local events to raise money. Granted, a drag strip collecting $10/ride may not fly in most areas, how about letting parents get a picture of their child in your car for $10.00 a donation at the next car show. (I would do it for free anyways, but hey, just a thought). Hosting a local picnic? Split the proceeds of your next poker run? There are many ways to help, and there are also many charities. Want to make a real difference, find a way that you can give rides to some kids whose medical condition may not give them the chance to build or own a dream car (or a car for that matter) like we have.

Hey -- all I was asking was -- how much money was raised this year. I think it is a valid question and I am often asked by my friends, who purchased raffle tickets, how much we raised this year, I am proud of our efforts. Please believe my questions are ment to be accusatory, they are simply informational-seeking. I stand tall when I tell others about our accomplishments -- I just would like to provide them with answers.
Just as a note, I myself have personally been involved , with the Fling, since its inception. I recognize its positive impact.
Thanks,
mike

I would think that the cf foundation would be at liberty to tell anybody how much was donated.

Oh boy, OhBuoy...
Mike Braatz is a good guy, one of the best.
I think we are all just curious. Big deal was made last year of how much we raised and we haven't heard squat this year.
YES YOU ARE RIGHT...however much we raised, it's great! But is curiosity a damnable offense?
And for whoever asked (I forget who you were on page 1), CF did send a thank you in the day or two following the fling (just an FYI). I forget which thread it was under, but it's there somewhere.

I never saw anything mean in your question Mike. It was right on the "money" and needs an answer. I'm surprised the issue has gone on this long with no pertinent information, not good!

I did not take the post as mean, I just think that what we all do as a family is wonderfull, and I really do not think anyone does it for a Thank You. I agree that it would be nice to know how much money was raised, but I also think that the Comb's family may have passed out from exhaustion for a good period of time after the fling. Hopefully Randy or Ed will see these posts and get something rough together. The last part of my post was an effort, maybe poor at that at 11:00pm, to get people to think about how we can continue the generosity throughout the year. I also did not want people to think that more money was raised than last year, because I have a gut feeling that it was not the case. I would love it if it was, but I do not think that it was the case.
