Jay, you're taking this personally for Ed. I mean really, it's like the Ed slamming that never ever happened here has hit you personally as if it (there is no "IT", but.......anyways...) was aimed directly at you. I don't understand! We don't want to take this away from Ed. But, after IV was over, we all waited to hear what was raised... most were disappointed. There was never an explanation, and then *poof* - Ed was gone. He had every reason to be gone, the man is trying to start his business up in a new place. But people didn't know. They figured . . . aaahhhhh, maybe 1 post?? It took 3 threads starting up, 3+ months later!

That, too, is OK. But all that is going on here is everyone is saying, "HEY! What's up?! Will there be a Fling V? Will it be like IV? Are we planning on devoting our efforts to CF again? If so, what means are we using to raise funds? "

These are all legitimate questions.

Til the day I die, I will always believe that someone going on the defensive for no reason appears to be admitting guilt. It's just not always true, but man, it LOOKS that way to people. So, if Ed has nothing to feel that way about, why is he defensive?

We are NOT trying to take the fling away from him. The people here asking questions are trying to make #5 the best yet, like Mike said.

I think the first angry post here was from me when I felt like my right to speak out was being called into question. I'm over that, now. Amazing what 2 hours of laundry will do for a man.

There are still a lot of questions on the table, and frankly, if Ed says the Fling is in Knuckle Junction and it will be run just like DVSF IV, then well, Jay, have fun. I don't think that is what everyone wants. If you disagree with this thread, then boycott it or ignore it, but don't tell us to STFU. It is everyone here's right to say what they please. Not yours to police it. Leave that to Ron or Brent.

In closing, and I'm off this thread for the night, I want to say that I'm sorry if this dialogue is causing unrest or bad feelings. Never the intent. But I'm not going to change course. Nor is anyone else who feels strongly what I do. I'm not the only one. I'm sorry some people are not mature enough to relax for a minute and accept CHANGE as a positive route to enjoyment. I am sorry I talk a lot.

We are taking part, and it is NOT "Ed's gig". Ed said SO.

He doesn't have to let go anything, he is in it and no one is asking him to turn it over to anyone. I don't see any volunteers in this thread for that position. What I do see are bunch of us convinced that this is "OUR EVENT" and tying to participate early on, rather than at the last minute like we are always asked to and then told what the surprises are.

Yes WE DO WANT TO HAVE A COBRA GET TOGETHER. This is it. This has always been our Gettogether. You are not suggesting if we don't let Ed do it his way, we should go somewhere else and have one of our own, simply because we have some suggestions..

Brian...thanks for the moderator comment. Always seems the folks that require the most attention complain the most. You actually tie us up with your R and X rated pics, but hey, that's ok buddy, that's what we do. But don't ever forget we are members too and have our own opinions. Go in peace.

Jay...if you're right in your approach to the Fling, then I'll be the first to say the he!! with it. Some of us have spent money or engaged in time and effort, some more than others, because it was something we did for US. If this is Ed's deal, and we are supposed to follow his way or the highway...then screw it.

Everyone has a story...mine is minor. I recall spending a good deal of time and using my own contacts as a former SCCA Chapter President and as a Safety Steward to help get the ball rolling on the autocross that a few folks thought worthy back at Fling III. I recall countless threads and posts in support like a host of others did. I recall digging deep with a bunch of others from way out here to commercially ship our cars way back over there. And I sure as hell don't recall being stingy donating parts for Jenny's Car or bidding for stuff at the auction beyond their value. A minor role compared to a ton of work put in by ED and others throughout the year and during the Flings themselves. But those minor efforts by folks add up. If Ed and his family don't need the additional efforts, then they don't need to post here asking for help, and they can run it any damn way they want and nothing more needs to be said.

Don't recall anybody individually ever asking for thanks for what they did individually...but dammit if those efforts are ignored, or if doors are slammed if folks dare to share some ideas or, saints preserve me, actually ask some questions.

Now, if that's what Ed wants...ask for folks to throw up some ideas so he can make final decsions, and everyone shut up and not ask any questions...have the balls to say so. Some will go, and some won't. Let's not play games and pretend to ask for input when it's going to be attacked or ignored. That's BS.

Don't know if you're talking for Jay or for Ed. If you're talking for yourself and it's your opinion, then I'll back you 100% for your right to give that opinion even if I don't agree with you. These pictures are why CF was chosen as the charity enough said. At SFIII little Jenny was in the hospital and couldn’t attend but told the doctors they had to discharge her because she was suppose to lead a parade of Cobras in London Ohio. At SFIV Jenny was not in attendance but Ed told us because of new medicines etc. she had not been back in the hospital. I was hoping the Cobra family might have had something to do with that in a small way. Now what was the dates again for 2005?

The only reason I keep asking for the actual dates is because during these resent posts Ed has said the city of London wants to know if the Cobra group would like to come to London on a differant weekend than with the Strawberrys. Ed lets continue with the name tags because I'm getting older and can't see but can still read if it's large enough type. The first year I met Dan Semko and brother Dave but when Dan came a year latter with a full beard I was wondering who was trying to shake my hand. NOW GET ED OFF THAT DAMN ROOF TO ANSWER A FEW OF THESE QUESTIONS. I've been to all four events and trying to plan on five if I wait to long the wife will have me going else where on the dates finally chosen for Spring Fling Five. There are a lot of people here who have expressed that they are will in g to help, and you got 11 pages of suggestions, so make some executive decisons, and get the dates posted and tell us what is going to happen. There is a lot of energy to tap from here if you need assistance!
