Dan,

I too, think Cobra's should have Ford engines, and someday when I don't want to go as fast, I'll put one in.

For those with no sense of humor, this is a friggin joke. I'm in the minority that don't care what engine is in the car.

Jack,

I think having a Chevy engine in your Cobra is a poor reflection of your character.

Love me or hate me, doesn't mean I can't joke too, right?

Question

J.P. ~ wait a minute partner......don't be dragging me into this inferno!!! Heck, I can get along with just about anyone, you included.

My only crime is posting what "I" could see as an innocent bystander. I did not mention any names in my post (except for the name "Ed") and nothing I wrote was intended as a slap in the face towards you or anyone else.

Now play nice or I'm telling your mother

Sorry - I guess most people don't know that I know you personally. It was a joke.

But another bad and dumb one on my part. I'm going to go to work, now. Yes, it's Saturday, but I can do less damage there.

Jack,
You and DV share the same affliction......the inability to distinguish "Dave from Dan"

JP,
In my book you have been vindicated. There are over 10414 viewings of this thread. I can't find too many other threads that has as big an interest as this one..

To fluff it off, and to suggest people don't care is irresponsible at best. Obviously a LOT of people DO care, and most have too much class and tolerance not to ask the pointed questions you and others have.

Those attacking you and and trying to mock you may very well be in the minority. A lot of people think Silence is Golden. They don't want to come to your defense, because it will be perceived as a slap on the face of DV.

You saw what happened to few of us asking some questions and making some suggestions... We became the subject matter for DV's rebuttal. Nothing was said about the price paid for the raffle car (not my question) but the man went out of his way tio disect every word I typed, INCORRECTLY I must say.

No we are NOT in the minority, we just appear to be for the reasons stated above.

I don't even know what happened to those who came out yelling "This was Ed's show". Now that Ed clearly stated it wasn't, where are they with their apologies?

They are waiting on the side lines for the the mobilization of the troops and the ground swell of 4 or 5 sympathatic posts in sequence, they will show up and tell the both of us to mind our business, and suggest where we can go if we don't like the way it is run..
I am waiting for Jay and BLACKJACK for their wisdom still.

Talking

Dan, Dave, and Jack,
I personally think having a Chevy engine in a Replica Cobra is perfectly OK.

You thinking of Grappa, instead of Raki? I have had both, and have both here for sipping. Raki is closer to Ouzo/Pernod. Grappa has grape flavor.

JP and others, I for one have enjoyed the discourse on the thread. It actually has me doing some financial discovery as we speak.

Yep just like a "family" always bickering and arguing only this one is more than a wee bit dysfunctional--
I won't attend a fling again. You won't miss me anyway, and I, like, really care. To much crap hit the fan, to many ''circlejerkers'', too much B.S. all around.
Too bad , there are a lot of smart, knowledgeable people, and they can't see the light through the trees.

I'm done.

No offense meant to anyone personally but you know who you are and how you respond.

Peace be upon you

I CARED!!!! At one time I wanted a real accounting in regards to the charity aspect of the Fling... I don't care anymore. Justin, you fought a good fight and asked the correct questions.

Let's all not forget that the whole point of the Fling is to give us a venue to get together and share each other's company, our experiences, and our common interest in the most incredible car on four wheels......the Cobra!!!

I don't care which side of this "discussion" you fall on, let's get together in the parking lot of the hotels and have a drink and tell a lie about how much HP our car has!!

Can't wait. See you there.

Unhappy

I don't know why I am continually amazed at what an emotionally charged issue these sort of threads become. They certainly are and have been for me. I am just burnt out on them.

Perhaps they are so 'passioniate' because this is such a unique event not only for Cobras, but the automotive hobby in general. At least it is like nothing I have ever attended before. Limited as though that experience may be.

One thing that does seem apparent, is that the event is 'loved'. Sure not one of us agree with everything. When does anyone agree with everything any one does or says? Hell, I wouldn't want it that way. It would be TO boring!

Like any family and family member, the amount of discourse can exceed ones tollerance. This is where I am at. Not to say I am not looking forward to the 'fling' in what ever way it may come about. Just that the 'flavor' is not as sweet as it once was.

I guess it is like most things in life when there is an emotional attachement. The higher the 'highs', the lower the lows. The bigger the risks, the bigger the gains.

I give a $hit about: seeing this 'family' thrive, being able to get past its differences, being able to help and support one another, maintaining the feeling of brotherhood that I have come to greatly enjoy, and about seeing events that foster these continuing.

People often ask me what I like most about about the Cobra. I tell them it really has nothing to do with the car. I tell them it is the people that I have come to know because of the Cobra. The people that I would like to think I can call 'friends'. People that I have had the distinct pleasure of coming to know because of the car.

Of course, not everyone I have met I am pleased to have the experience. But the vast majority. Those that fit in this catagory, I will simply avoid. I also know that some feel the same about me. Not all relationships are good. A simple fact. This doesn't make these people necessarily 'good' or 'bad', simply incompatible.

I wish I had the words to put an end to all of this. But frankly, I am at a loss. I don't know where this will lead and what the outcome will be. I just know, that I want the good to continue.

Rick

Here! Here! Well said. A little squishy, but well said.

I might add that there is a certain amount of fun in rattling the door of a vette or two. Done with a crowd could be down right intimidating. ( lord, please help my spelling )

Rick, since were family and all, would you care to help with the current expenses? LOL

Cool

OKAY, TURK - - - -

LAST PAGE YOU ASKED WHERE MY COMMENTS ARE - - - -

- - - - - - - -HERE ARE A FEW OF THEM - - - -

TO ALL: WHEN YOU FIND YOURSELF IN A REALLY DEEP HOLE - THE FIRST THING YOU WANT TO DO IS GET RID OF THE FRIGGIN' SHOVEL.

TO ED: YOU HAVE BEEN A GOOD FRIEND TO ME AND TO EVERYONE ON THIS FORUM AND TO EVERYONE WHO HAS ATTENDED THE "FLINGS". I'VE BEEN AT THE FIRST FOUR AND I'LL DAMN SURE BE AT NUMBER FIVE. YOU HAVE BEEN INCREDIBLY GENEROUS WITH YOUR TIME AND EFFORTS - AND - THOSE OF YOUR FAMILY. (THEY ARE PROBABLY ABOUT TO "DISOWN" YOUR ASS). I DON'T KNOW HOW - OR WHY - YOU EVEN PUT UP WITH ALL THIS CRAP. I SUPPOSE IT'S SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE KNOWLEDGE THAT THE VAST MAJORITY OF US WOULD CLIMB DOWN THE BARREL OF A CANON WITH YOU IN A HEARTBEAT. KEEP IN MIND, MY FRIEND, THE OLD PITTSBURGH PROVERB: "NO GOOD DEED EVER GOES UNPUNISHED".

I DON'T GIVE A DAMN WHERE THE NEXT FLING WILL BE, WHAT WE WILL DO THERE, HOW MUCH IT WILL COST, OR ANYTHING ELSE - - I JUST WANT TO HANG OUT WITH GOOD FRIENDS, DRINK RAKI, LOOK AT COOL CARS AND LIE ABOUT HOW FAST I AM (WAS).

PLEASE, JUST "DO IT YOUR WAY". THERE'S NO WAY IN HELL THAT YOU'RE GOING TO PLEASE EVERYONE. YOU'RE ONLY GOING TO DRIVE YOURSELF NUCKING FUTS TRYING. "DO IT, BUDDY. WE'LL BE THERE".

TO JP: LIKE YOU - - - I WAS ONCE A 23 YEAR OLD BIG MOUTH, AROGANT, OBTUSE, PAIN-IN-THE-ASS FREEKIN' KNOW-IT-ALL. KNOW I'M A 69 YEAR OLD BIG MOUTH, AROGANT, OBTUSE, PAIN-IN-THE-ASS FREEKIN' KNOW-IT-ALL. THE BIG DIFFERENCE IS THAT NOW I TRY TO KEEP THOSE MOST LOVABLE CHARMS OUT OF THE PUBLIC VIEW. WHEN YOU WANT SOME THING TO "COOL DOWN" AND FOLKS TO GET OFF YOUR ASS THE BEST THING TO DO IS TO SHUT-UP FOR A WHILE - - MAYBE A LONG WHILE. THE MORE YOU REPEAT AND REPEAT AND REPEAT THE SAME STUFF THE MORE PEOPLE GET PISSED OFF AND BORED SILLY. (CREDIBILITY ISSUE HERE).

TO CLAY: WE HAVE SPOKEN IN PERSON SEVERAL TIMES AND I FOUND YOU TO BE A DECENT, INTELLIGENT - AND EVEN (SOMEWHAT) LIKEABLE GUY. YOU REALLY SEEM TO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH COMPUTERS THOUGH BECAUSE WHEN YOU POST - MORE OFTEN THAN NOT - YOU COME ACROSS AS AN ASSHOLE. IT MIGHT HELP IF YOU READ - AND REREAD - YOUR POSTS BEFORE YOU PUSHED THE "SEND" BUTTON. ADDITIONALLY - - YOU MIGHT WANT TO STOP ENCOURAGING JP. HE HAS DEMONSTRATED AN ABILITY TO GET KNEE DEEP IN SH!T ON HIS OWN - - - HE REALLY DOESN'T NEED YOUR HELP. WE (THE GUYS FROM THE "OTHER FORUM") UNDERSTAND THE "FAMILY CONNECTION" THAT YOU REFERRED TO BUT DO YOU REALLY NEED TO "GET POINTS" BY "PATTING HIS BUTT???"

ALTHOUGH IT'S A GOOD THING THAT THE POST ON THE "OTHER FORUM" WAS SHUT DOWN - - - MANY OF US WERE DISAPPOINTED BECAUSE WE WERE REALLY BUILDING UP A HEAD OF STEAM. (IT'S STILL BOILING). SCOTT WAS RIGHT BECAUSE HE (WE) WILL NOT TOLERATE THAT SORT OF CRAP IN THAT "FAMILY".

WE (ON THE OTHER FORUM) MANAGE TO STAY ON EACH OTHERS ASS - - ALL DAY LONG - - AND DO IT WITH LAUGHTER AND FRIENDSHIP.

YOU & JP GET ON A THREAD AND IMMEDIATELY START BAD MOUTHING ONE OF OUR FRIENDS (DV) AND WITHIN A DAY YOU HAVE EVERYONE SO PISSED OFF AT YOU THAT SCOTT HAS TO SHUT DOWN THE THREAD. I THINK THAT'S THE FIRST AND ONLY TIME HE EVER DID THAT.

TO ALL (AGAIN): I KNOW A LOT OF GUYS ON THIS FORUM AND CONSIDER MOST OF THEM FRIENDS. REAL FRIENDS. I KNOW THAT ONCE ANIMUS BECOMES THE ISSUE OF THE DAY - SIDES ARE INSTINCTIVELY TAKEN. (PROBABLY HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THERE BEING NO "TYPE-B" PERSONALITIES AROUND HERE). I HONESTLY BELIEVE THAT ALL OF US (OR CERTAINLY MOST OF US) REALLY WANT TO HAVE A "DVSF-V". LET'S JUST GET THE HELL OUT OF ED'S KITCHEN AND FIND SOMETHING ELSE TO B!TCH ABOUT UNTIL NEXT JUNE. IT'S HIS SHOW. LET'S QUIT BEING OBSTRUCTIONISTS. IF YOU DON'T LIKE "HIS SHOW" THERE'S A SIMPLE SOLUTION. DON'T COME TO IT. IF YOU WANT SOMETHING DIFFERENT, BIGGER, SMALLER, FASTER, EARLIER, LATER, OR CERTIFIED BY ERNST & YOUNG - - - PUT THE DAMN THING ON YOURSELF. HECK, I'LL EVEN BUY A TICKET TO ATTEND.

LET'S JUST CUT THE CRAP OUT (ME TOO) AND LET DV GET ON WITH WHAT HE DOES BEST - - - - - -

Y'ALL HAVE A REALLY GREAT DAY.

BLACKJACK

(YOU ASKED FOR MY OPINIONS, TURK - AREN'T YOU GLAD NOW??)

Point of clarification, nothing more...

Neither myself nor Clay Foushee ever badmouthed Ed Combs anywhere. Blackjack is referencing a thread at the Capital Area forum where I made a couple of posts re: this topic. But one thing I've never done is "badmouth" Ed Combs or anyone.

You can also see my non-badmouthing of Hotfingrs there if you really care. I doubt many do.

I said I'm done here and I'm done here - but I won't sit here and watch people tell God and Country that I said things I never said and did things I never did. This is getting worse than anything I may have seemed to imply about DV - a topic I think I've straightened out, now.

Thank you.
