Dear Ed,
There is nothing in this world that will tear at a parents heart as deeply as living thru the painful events of your loved one's.
Fortunately, God has given us the the strong back and shoulders to carry them thru the ordeals, the strong legs to finish the long uphill climb and the heartwarming smile that can take that child from the depth of despair to the brightness of your love in an instant.
Please know there are a lot of us pulling for you!!
Mark & Cindi

Talking to 'Jr.' this morning was a thrill. He told me he hasn't seen Wendy, this happy, and pain free for years and years. He says, "we've got the Old Wendy back". So, it aint all bad! We still know nothing of her tests yet, or if they plan on a second operation yet, time will tell, but for now she is smiling, grading school papers, and shopping with her mother. I am a very thankfull and happy Dad. Everybody's support for Wendy and "us" has been a wonderfull thing. I simply do no know how to say a proper "Thank You"!
Todd, especially you, and the rest of the London Fire Department are almost family. Maybe I could get her to stop in soon, just don't laugh too hard at her haircut
Wendy and John's temporary address is :
2154 Quarry Valley Dr
Col's., Oh 43205
If any of you have the inclination and time, I KNOW she would love to hear from you.
DV... Our family "IS" amazing!
PS...somebody tell me why, after 2 1/2 years of seeing a migraine specialist, they never preformed one cat-scan?

Because they are expensive and he didn't want to do the HMO paperwork to justify it, but that's a whole different discussion. Glad to hear she's doing better.

Ed, I'm very sorry to hear about your daughter. I pray that her tumor is of a benign type, and/or responds well to radiation/etc. I've seen alot of people/children stricken with these horrible diseases, and it always make you so sad.
You said " PS...somebody tell me why, after 2 1/2 years of seeing a migraine specialist, they never preformed one cat-scan?",
I would say you need to talk to the doctor's that were treating her, as I think they would be able to explain. I believe that actually a MRI is better for detecting brain tumors than a CT scan, although, if the tumors are small, they can be undetectable, such as a pituitary adenoma, which are detected many times by the hormones the tumors produce even though they cannot be detected by any type of x-ray even when they are known to exist.

Anthony,
I hope you don't mind, I sent you an e-mail. The CT scan, did pick it up. An MRI immediately followed.

Ed,
Glad to hear things are looking up. In your address post I did not see a last name for Wendy & John.

Ed,
Great news, hopefully Wendy will continue on the path to recovery. I am in the process of getting our care package together, and maybe if she doesn't object too much, I can hand deliver it to her. Oh by the way, we just might think about making her an honorary member of our department. Since the majority of our members are follically challenged anyway, She already has the haircut needed.
You and your family will continue to be in our prayers. Looking forward to seeing you or Randy at the planning meetings for DVSF V. Let me know if there is anything that we can do to help you out in the planning.

Mrs. Avi, how nice to hear from you...and thank you so much for your well wishes.
Tom, Nice to hear from you too! If you can find the time, would you call me at 231-425-6823 some time?
I will be talking to Wendy soon and be assured I will pass all the prayers along.
Wendy sees her nurologist Wednesday. Another CT Scan with maybe an MRI thrown in. Hopefully the reports will be back from the 'Mayo' by then. All of this sure hasn't slowed this young lady down; I refuse to let it slow me down either.
As soon as I hear anything I will pass it along.
Ed 'DV' Combs...Coming here is just like clicking your heels together three times.

Hopefully, in the medical field, when you don't hear back right away, it's a good thing.
COME ON MAYO.

Just a short update;
Monday, Jan. 10th, Wendy had her post-post MRI. Her Dr. is supposed to give her the results today or tomorrow; hopefully with the diagnosis from the Mayo too. Yes, waiting is the hard part!

Jan. 16,
So you know, 'we're' still waiting.......
Low grade headaches have returned but Wendy thinks it may be from reading three books in a row and catching up at school, grading all the papers she is behind on. Mom told her to STOP reading so much!
DV...still waiting....

D.V.,
We are all still praying for Wendy. My best friend's wife is going through some of that right now, except hers wasn't in the head. I think the waiting is really the worst. I went over and sit with her the other day while he was at work and helped her some with her computer. Anything to try and get her mind off the waiting. These doctors think they got everything and that it wasn't maglinant, but she is still scared to death until they get the final results back. So hang in there, we are all pulling for Wendy and your whole family.

Ed,
I just found out about this thread this morning after a different post. I'll be pulling for her. I have a wife who grades papers all evening as well and I know it's tough, but it probably takes her mond off of other things. I had a tough time in the hospital a year ago, had a very bad prognosis, and ended up getting better in a hurry. I'll hope for the same outcome for Wendy.
